Joanne’s advice on the show

How should you approach prayer or meditation effectively?

Pray in the language of your heart rather than reciting rote prayers, direct positive energy/intention into a situation instead of worrying, and practise relaxation (feeling and being, not thinking and doing) before attempting meditation.

What is the purpose of self-discipline according to Joanne Jackett?

Treat discipline as a 'best friend' rather than a punishment system (not military-style discipline but self-discipline), since it helps you move out of suffering and live well.

How should parents handle a child who is misbehaving or struggling at school?

Show love consistently, avoid forcing conformity, model the behaviour you want your children to adopt, and ensure both parents present a united, agreed approach to discipline rather than one parent handing it out alone.

How do you deal with someone who is rude or difficult (like a short-tempered cafe owner)?

Bless the person rather than react; don't let their behaviour disturb your own peace, recognising that their rudeness likely stems from their own suffering.
