0:09
What's happening? gronk. What's going on? Jessica Lucas, Mr. Mason Lauder? How he both
0:16
good? Like good. What's
0:23
your budget?
0:25
chia pudding? what's what's in you, chia pudding?
0:29
and almond milk. But I do have chia seeds floating around my mouth as you said to me, but they'll go
0:35
right? You find one six weeks later, and it will have grown a colony in your mouth. That sounds horrible
0:44
yesterday.
0:45
Sorry, I was just texting mum before deploy started in Joshua asked why? It's because my mother called me yesterday and she said, Oh darling, I've just been to the doctor. She said it in a happy way. Not a sad way. Like you could say, darling, I've just been to the doctor, which would make you alarmed. I was not alarmed. She sounded really happy.
1:11
She could have been so happy, being happy from the doctor sibs. What's an example like when would you I'm pregnant?
1:21
another kid in the family I don't
1:22
want to fuck another brother saves anything happy about where we got me so maybe your mom's got good testosterone.
1:31
I don't know you go in with an issue but you don't actually have anything. It's just you're clear.
1:35
That's true, Jess anything. Anything? It would be a happy happy news from the doctor. I mean,
1:40
my mind went straight to itenary STDs
1:53
and so you're sick I guess.
1:55
STI is now anyway a state transition there was a clear trend. Where it's like primary school, we went STDs. And then by high school we're talking STI as I'm guessing Mason, you
2:07
guys know we actually had a period of STDs and then and then a couple of STI then we moved to St is
2:14
Yeah, right. Love it.
2:18
Anyway mom got a doctor's certificate. And she said to me, she said to the doctor, just been to the doctor, and I've got a certificate to say that I can come and collect Bodie and take him for the day. And so this is her girl. She's like, I decided to go to the doctor. I don't even know how she came up with this. But you can like to get a karass certificate to then be able to look after your kids and so she's she's gone and said, Tommy and Amy is struggling. And we I'd love to be able to take my grandson and so mom's yeah baby is going on an excursion. The first thing he woke happened said he ran down here this morning and said, I'm sorry. Oh, no, he came. Sorry. Last night. So early early in the morning. He came in and said, so when it was fantastic, can you just give us a time now? Or he said no, no recently 4am he came into our bed this morning. And he said, I'm so lucky. I'm going to jojos and then he went back to sleep. It was so cute anyway, so
3:27
and so what is it Wednesday? When does Bodhi leave? When does that happen?
3:30
in one hour, one and a half, one and a half hours. What are you gonna do? He's going night the
3:39
Boolean FF
3:42
the fuck fest for people who are unaware of
3:47
how long is this?
3:49
man he's actually gonna go for the night. Oh, that's that's sorry.
3:56
Just that's it's such a funny like Yeah, like when people will say like, it's I'm yeah, that is so good.
4:05
What do you need? It doesn't it doesn't affect us really does it? It's I'm happy for Tommy.
4:10
Yeah, no, the thing is like that. Like, that's great news. Like, for you the bit for you. I don't know. It's,
4:18
I get any light. That's excited. It's all good. I'm pumped. I'm pumped. It's it's just I mean, it's been like for over four weeks. I like ice cream tonight. Do it. Why not? Yeah, maybe. Maybe go get a little ice cream. Push it till fucking 755 get home and then snuggle and watch a movie?
4:38
To be honest. I thought it was going this isn't very PC. But you hear the stories of people getting sick certificate so that they can get their disability thing the car park thing? Yeah. Oh, yeah. And I thought that maybe she was fucking fired up because she she's got one of them. asking what is party one?
5:01
He's literally waiting at the door saying Joe. Joe
5:04
is ready, Joe. Joe, can we
5:06
interview Bodi quickly? Would you like to speak to Josh and Jess Lucas? Come on. He always calls just Lucas, which I appreciate the real power play just Lucas.
5:18
Because I could imagine you being a teacher. Yes. Here we go.
5:22
Josh wants to talk to you. Hey,
5:24
Bodie. Hey, Mikey. Hello. What's your day today? I hear that something exciting is happening. I hear that you're going to see someone very special. Who are you going to say?
5:37
See Joy, joy.
5:39
Oh, that's fun. What are you going to do together? Do you know? headphones, they keep falling off.
5:48
Yeah, they keep falling off.
5:49
That's all right. What's your favourite song at the moment?
You like monster tracks? Yeah, that's good. That's great. Now what's been the highlight of your day?
6:08
It's good.
6:10
He can clear skies I could do
6:16
it time I do.
6:19
Did you get potty weight picks the other day?
6:22
I'm not quite
6:25
know. What did you get?
6:28
I got
6:36
whose birthday was it this week? Do you remember whose birthday it just was?
Just processing I get it. Enjoy. enjoy time with Jojo. Have fun. Let's see, monkey. Don't be too good. They really can't say be good for Georgia because we can't leave skinny to be good for you. You know, it's always good to Pharaoh with Jojo and then come back and go for you. Yeah, yeah. Give him hell.
7:13
Yeah, give him hell. Anyway, that was the exclusive with the bowtie jacket. That's very exciting.
7:22
Nice way to be mom. Yeah,
7:24
that's very sweet. I mean, this is what mothers do, right? Yeah, it's, but look, it's not about my mom. Because tomorrow Sunday, it's about me again. It's Father's Day. So
7:38
what's gonna happen they're
7:40
done. I reckon it would just be I mean, if I was to plan that like I wanted it's just I didn't know that breakfast cooked is just Marcia suka. shakshuka would be good.
7:54
I'd be happy. The shakshuka looked right. I just
7:58
be happy with bacon and eggs to be honest with you. Just doing not much doing not much. Jess, you're in lockdown. Obviously, you're in Melbourne. How you what percentage do you add? How are you feeling? Four weeks? nearly five weeks in. It's hard living by yourself.
8:18
So she probably doesn't understand the percentage thing.
8:20
No, she does. She's actually she brought that up on too much Telly. Because she's a British she said it like it was just the brand new thing that was happening. It's a Bernie brown 22,004
8:35
Yeah, I know. But I've only just started my obsession with that. So just just discovered
8:39
Oprah as well. So yeah, what percentage are you at Jess?
8:47
Um, today, I would say um, maybe like an 80 Oh, that's that's
8:53
wrong. Josh says a clap time it's nice but society Yeah.
9:00
flyers you know, what was it the odd
9:03
Why do you say it like that?
9:04
It's funny. It's like, y'all get just put them
9:07
Is it because, um, what's that the the one with Margot Robbie in it
9:14
What's my garage movie? The The Wolf of Wall
9:21
likes they're like superheroes or something. The captain put Suicide Squad Suicide Squad. And that she I haven't seen it. I just wanted to It's horrible.
9:31
Yeah, Suicide Squad was horrible.
9:33
It's like Justice League Justice League Justice League was a pretty shitty movie.
9:38
I mean, yeah, well, that's good that you're going. Doing so? Well. Just the city. Yeah, that well. I think I'm gonna bet a 70.
9:47
Yeah. What are you? Well, that's good because earlier in the week, joshy would probably get a four. Yeah, wait, you see when I saw it, yeah.
9:55
And to be honest, is this I don't know if this is good or not, but I had My What did he call himself? An old school not old school it was an old fashioned old fashioned old
10:07
fashioned GP.
10:08
Yeah. And actually I need to cancel so I've got an appointment in an hour and a half that we we'd already put in the calendar in case I still wanted to go and get bloods. I feel like it's fine for me to cancel now like, okay, I can't be fucked going. So yeah, I'm feeling I'm feeling better glands.
10:27
Are those two things that can't be fucked and it's fine two different things.
10:30
Well,
10:32
I'm not fine, but I'm different enough like the if you do a if you look at the scale, you know, you're potentially I'm getting better Okay, and so I can be fine Why
10:43
don't you just go get your bloods for other things as well like if you go test
10:47
yes or it's just jazz the house once in the past four weeks the I've already got what I've already had you know, banter or Sort of awkward banter with the doctor. And I just know what it's going to be like it was it was like so brave went to a doctor soon after, like probably before the second wave, but we just had the first wave. And Bree said are you know, she saying that she hadn't been eating that? Well shouldn't been that healthy. And the lady said Why? It's bizarre being ordering so why are you ordering you can be cooking and we don't need to be fucking lectured. So I want to be going to a fucking doctor. That's gonna tell me that I I can't have overeats Fuck off.
11:32
You actually just need to find a good dog.
11:34
Yeah, but I just don't like it. They're not just they're not just get rid of your one. You're awful.
11:39
Yeah. And they just just find this. There's an there's another bloke at the same clinic who's great. The you He's great.
11:47
I just don't need a pet. You know how like some doctors can fall into that sort of like, it's like, oh my god, you just reminded me of a parent,
11:55
where it's like I don't necessarily had that. I find that more so with dentists. tell you now, you know you should be flossing. It's like, yeah, I find that more of the pain in the bum rather than actually. I mean, if you're at the doctor, my baby was at
12:09
the dentist, so it's sort of I get I do get that.
12:11
Yeah. My mom even had banter with the doctor. She got the the note off. And it was it was about COVID stuff. And I was about how how people aren't dying from COVID they're dying with COVID. And so he was getting right into it about the elderly that clearly have a whole bunch of other shit going on. God he's a conspiracy theorist, but thanks for the fucking doctors not
12:41
Yes, he gives you that. Yeah,
12:42
I mean, I'm happy with him. Talking. Alex Jones is a doctor now.
12:46
I was talking. I was talking to Jess. Yesterday on FaceTime, had a great chat. And she was going out for a walk between you and a doctor of Superman. Yeah, and Walking for five minutes. We're having a great chat as a little bit jealous of you being out and about. I know I can but I'm sort of caught myself mid July. I wasn't.
13:11
I'm not fucking going anywhere unless it's in an ambulance. And they take me out in the stretcher.
13:16
I definitely am not. I don't want an ambulance. I'm definitely the guy that you know, you hear this to remember in school. A teacher told a story of like her friend whose husband fell in a shower, and he smashed his like a castle himself really bad. But because the friend was so sort of proper she was trying to like dress him. Like get him intellect it's fucking bloody thing. Trying to get him to not be naked for the ambos
13:47
looks like a murder say and he's in a suit. Yeah, he's in the shower.
13:50
Anyway, so I feel like yeah, ambulance paramedics fucking amazing what they do. Ideally, you don't have to deal with them, right? But it's the game. But yeah, Jess is walking along, and then she gets to, it's like a shopping precinct area, like you open up into like, sort of. And it just like it brought back memories of it has been so long since I've gone through the shopping centre doors like that. And then it occurred to me they occurred to me that Jess was in fact not wearing a mask. Ah, and the whole time and so I said Jess, you know when it's one of those moments was this is gonna be fucking like it Yeah, this is great. This is not good for you. Right for the shot. Yeah, good banter as just like Jess, you know, wearing a mask. And then I saw like your face. I even like I I was so fired up. I took screen grabs, but that was so horrendous that I didn't even put them into the the group. Because I'm
14:55
just so
14:57
so short
14:58
by the whole thing. roadog didn't
15:00
Um, what happened? And then what happened?
15:03
So, Josh told me and then I was like, Fuck, I don't have time to go buy one straightaway. So I went up, because I was gonna be late for my appointment anyway. And so I went up and I had my hoodie over my mouth. And I was just said, I'm sorry, sorry, Do I have time to go buy a mosque and they will act Nari. Don't worry about it. He's a mosque and they just pulled out a word. So it was actually it was actually kind of great because I've been rotating the same one for a while. So it was I'm a freshman. I
15:30
was like, a lot loose like the classic sort of low grade medical ones.
15:35
lower grade. Yeah,
15:37
well, the thing is that don't look like I don't think face very well.
15:40
Well, yeah, it's that sort of like, they're not like the what in 95 or whatever they call them. Like they're designed for projector. Yeah, excellent. And I get I get an epidemiologist or a doctor.
15:56
But yesterday I would be fine.
15:58
But I have been watching all these videos. on iPads.
16:01
Yeah,
16:03
I really want to get an iPad.
16:05
You are sorry. You've been watching them on iPads. You've been watching him on an iPad about an iPad and on the TV, iPad and what's slightly obnoxious. Tell me how obnoxious This is.
16:17
But I did say to Bri last week, I said hi. Just so you know, if you're thinking about getting me an iPad, don't because there's a new one coming out for my birthday, like, around my birthday. Yeah, there was sort of that obnoxious thing where I'd already said, Don't do anything big. I don't want anything, all that sort of thing. And so it's that annoying thing, which is like, Well, I didn't get you an iPad. So you're okay. But the reason I bring it up was because I got
16:48
your Samsung tablet. Exactly.
16:51
Now I am. there's a there's a whole niche on YouTube. of doctors. Like sorry, not even doctors. medical students doing all of their like training. And so they were there's a guy Ali that does heaps of this. But then there's another guy that I found that even bigger. And they're like, like I want to get notable now and I want it like I know that I'm not studying for anything. What is no just no? Sorry is that notability or notable?
17:23
Oh no yeah, notoriety. Does that mean he wants to become famous? No no to pull the note taking app.
17:30
Yeah, yeah,
17:31
yeah. We're on note taking apps.
17:33
Yeah. And it's open source. Also he tells the story of the when he was doing his medical like when he was in his third year. He lost a whole bit of his notes in it because he was using books. And he lost one of the books and he said that it just fucking destroyed him. Like he had to do all this and so I was like, sold him by the end. Do I need an iPad? Not only do I need that, but they have this special screen protector that makes the screen feel like paper. And so when you use so it's Isn't that cool? My index cards haven't arrived if you're wondering.
18:16
Yeah, I mean, you sound like the guy we need to buy an old old style phone that's actually digital like a you know the one the non cordless ones that hang on the wall. Like Why? Well because you're turning your life digital but you know the Ode to the past so it's like the paper the analogue using a fucking iPad. Yeah, it's been a long wait, when is the new iPad coming out and what and how do you know?
18:42
So I did a I did a search on this is a website where you can go through and it says my game is biassed Buyer's Guide Should I buy and when you go to Should I buy it has a slider and it says this is When it was last updated, and this is when it should be updated. So it's a great resource if you're looking cool. Yeah. And so serves if you look at it now, if you look at the iPad Pro 12 point something into whatever it is the big one, obviously.
19:14
Okay, well, I mean, so just if you if anyone's looking to buy a phone right now don't buy one. Because once relationship, the iPad 12.9 inch iPad Pro,
19:24
it said manage 2020 I think was when it was last release, potentially. But then there's rumours of
19:33
Yeah, March 2020 was when was when it was last announced, like the lightest refresh, but the 11 inch, and then the iPad and the iPad Mini and the iPad, don't buy any of those. I think you're pretty safe to buy an iPad Pro to be honest. Sure.
19:50
Well, if they brought something out in March, surely they wouldn't.
19:52
Well, starting the house. Yeah, that's what I was thinking but sometimes it will say whether it was a big or small update and so It will say it's like a storage refresh so it will increase the storage he saying their services there any details on
20:09
I mean they they introduce a wide camera a faster
20:13
yes a Wednesday on
20:14
cameras that's already happened just half that's already happened. It's in the it's in the actual that was the one in March that update. Okay.
20:21
I feel like you save because you just don't want to be buying unless you're sort of trying to maximise like from a cost factor perspective. Normally the month before there's a release, some of the resellers will do like a 15% off because like, remember like if you go into a JB or whatever, they always have the percentage off the discounts but you can never use it on Apple products. Yes. So so they'll do like base the base level ones like if you just want I can what's out of the straight out of the box. You can get the 15% off when it gets close to the next.
20:59
This is great. Because I would I don't need the new one. I just want the iPad Pro but like the cheap version.
21:07
I just don't I'm
21:08
just what do you what do you spend your money on? I feel like I don't have a sense of what you sort of invest personally from just not even I think it's just a splurging like you look at Josh he's he's the subscriptions guy, Mason's the berries guy. When you when you spend
21:31
That's really funny that you asked because I've got a few parcels waiting to be delivered. Great, great. I actually had to leave a price at night on my letterbox because I don't know if you guys have noticed this, but the policies aren't actually knocking on your door anymore. They're not delivering it to you. They just leave a slip. And I don't know if it's just me, but like I'm hauling harm all the time. So they shouldn't be. Yeah. And so I've left a note saying if you've got a delivery for Jess Lucas, please call my number
21:58
to use it directly. Direct Line you could have
22:01
I should have been I didn't
22:04
know about so you might have the neighbour knocking you know with your give me sending your texts.
22:09
Yeah, that's cool. Dude,
22:14
sorry, there was a sale last Friday night and it was in a pally or I don't know I think it's like a special way of saying it, but I didn't have it. And she does really nice leather jackets. And so these jackets usually 700 or plus kind of villas, and it was a warehouse sale and I got two for $250 Ah,
22:39
emotions arise. Well, didn't they? Think about it in a weird run in a cobra hat as well.
22:49
I mean, you already have a nice leather jacket. How many leather jackets Do you own?
22:53
Oh, this will be four. But the plan was because they can be quite similar so I might sell it. I'll see how I go.
23:01
You're a small Menagerie. In fact, you won't drive.
23:05
Did you ever?
23:07
Did you go to old science when you're in the UK?
23:09
Yeah, I've been that way too expensive.
23:12
Yeah. Yeah, I remember when I was when I was doing Fifi and Jules when I went there for the Olympics, there was a place that Fifi would constantly get actually kept going back and we spent a lot of time they have like, feel that they've got like, it's a very cool shop. like they've got like old sewing machines and shit. No, it seems pretty. Pretty so
23:33
nice. Clothes is your crutch or you're spending but
23:36
in my defence, the reason I did it is because I have not bought anything since locks started locked down. You don't need it was my birthday money to defend yourself? And I feel like I do though, because it seems excessive. Like, you know,
23:50
you got your two jackets for $500 instead of spending $700 on one.
23:56
Thank you.
23:57
That's a great saving, and then you can resell If you want it and make money
24:01
yeah, yeah,
24:02
you done it could you could you actually resell it though?
24:05
Well, the issue is is that I don't know the sizing I haven't bought a jacket from them. So I got one in one size and the same size in the other jacket, which is what I really wanted. I just took it out of my car, it was really weird. And then so I had to get the, the size below which I feel like that could be my size, but it's Tavi say leather jackets like they, they stretch in there. So we'll say do that.
24:31
Did you ever do the when travelling, going to one of those tailors in like Southeast Asia or something and getting something? Yeah, it's, I can really I can pick I was saying to Jess yesterday I was like, you're definitely the the person that that eats like that corn dip and also that what carb low thing that the cub you know, the the cub, the bread
24:56
and the deputy? Yeah, yeah, I mentioned that to you the other day, Jeff. The code live where's the braid with the deep in the middle in the break the break off? Maybe?
25:08
Yeah, I said this to just yesterday and I feel like the person who I think if you look at the Hierarchy of Needs it's koplow. tailored, tailored
25:22
said all right
25:26
i think somewhere on there it's the self actualization. It's a tailored clothes from Southeast Asia. What did you What did you get and where did you get it?
25:37
I got it from when I was in the poll, and it was a lack of business jacket. I wanted a really like cute tailored fitted like blazer and I got it back and it doesn't fit it's the material is shocking. It was just did you get
25:54
a when you when you did it?
25:58
Yeah, it was in the pool. Yeah, yeah.
26:02
or something but you can get these things delivered online now, but did you not look because they do the whole life? Yeah. And I do wonder I'm like, who's wearing this pinstripe now? You know, like you look at these things and it's like really?
26:15
And I can even pinstripe in like the check it
26:18
Yeah, well Mason's getting us the Matthew McConaughey chequered
26:24
Chuck Yeah. Matthew McConaughey.
26:28
It was dangerous Matthew McConaughey with that so but that's
26:32
nice. Do you have a normal? Do you have a black suit like a normal suit? Or
26:36
I've got my blue one. That's fine. That stained so I still need to get that clean.
26:40
Take that for the dry cleaner base.
26:42
Yeah, it's just down the road as well. Like it could just see so many. Yeah.
26:49
Mason had a big business meeting. Yes, I was very excited for him and I I think I may have over engineered this Things that I told him to say. I think I coached I think I didn't coach him. I think the advice monster came in came out. Yeah. Can you explain the advice I gave? How it was implemented and how it went?
27:15
Well, I mean, so it started with it started with sort of like Michael bungay stanier questions coaching through like, what's the biggest challenge all that sort of stuff, which is great. I can die. Yeah, yeah. And then and then it sort of and then slowly got into like, you know, a bit of small talk sort of breaking the water sort of stuff. So that's
27:35
where I was. So that's what
27:38
started with you started with MBs questions being like man entering today's and then just like, you know, if you need a bit of small talk, like
27:46
I panicked on
27:47
this whole talk. And so the small talk, what did I say? The small talk was, is like may bring up bring up the fact that we're all tired from watching David Blaine. You know, we're the whole team's exhausted. We've been watching David Blaine Omar Anyway, so I entered to the ad, and I have a I have a little panic at the stands like man, small talk. Could I say, Well, I was I was like, man, we are so tight the whole time. Like, all night we're in Melbourne, it was like 2am by the time we got to bed and we were watching David Blaine all night. And, and I got nothing from it. Yeah.
28:22
I was. I didn't know David Blaine was gone. And the funny thing was, is I was like, What if I just got it wrong? So I had a meeting with a guy in New York this morning. And the first thing I said I met Matt and Todd was watching the dough blind. Did you watch it? No, no, I didn't like God. Did you know about it? Just trying to send him far off. I was like, Yeah, I think I saw a photo of him. Yeah, yeah, that's the one Yeah, well, that's. I was up until 2am. watching that. So this is you know, getting up at six to chat is nothing anyway. Okay, so I'm just bringing up the deck now.
29:04
That's what happened today strike. Do you see? I mean, it giving anyone advice on small talk, I was even considering that they completely inept at with, they have no ability to have a conversation at that point. That's what you're saying. Yeah. Like do you did you not have faith in Mason having any ability to come up with so I
29:27
wanted to give him the tools that he needed. And so he was he used it was the first fucking thing he used. So he could have used it any small talk he wanted. But he spent
29:39
going Mason's classes. He literally would have a bet that he did it. I did that.
29:45
I did it. Yeah, I did it twice. One got cut out because of audio ducking and then I said, and she's like, Yeah, good. And I'm so sorry, David Blaine.
29:55
We're exhausted.
29:57
So you didn't
29:58
even watch it. He's our
30:00
I didn't know you're
30:04
sent to him to say is this like I said the team,
30:07
the team, I didn't say
30:08
mated to him to say the team. I think we've got to and the other thing I said is I was like, just don't make it all about you, though. Don't make it like just ask a question. But the thing was, then he's like, I think you're trying to be too smart, where it's like, it's almost like you're in a job interview, and they're trying to get to know you, but you just don't fucking answer anything.
30:29
But it went, Wow. Another team's great. Yeah. What have you been up to all the team's been doing a lot
30:36
of work. It went, it went? Well. It went well.
30:39
What's the learning for next time though? Because I think that's where Yeah, Nathan.
30:45
I mean, just chill out a bit like the quick like the Michael bungay Sandhya. Questions are great. And just sort of,
30:51
sort of
30:52
hedge your bet on those like, just don't worry about anything else. Just do those questions and everything else will come.
30:57
What about a quick Google search of the person's name And saina gramme.
31:02
Well, I was just about to say, what I do before I go into any pitch or any like meeting when I don't know someone is you always have three. And what I tell my juniors is you always have three questions that you need to ask them to get to, to soften, like all of this kind of awkwardness at the start. So then you putting the questions onto them, and they have to answer and then it kind of gets you into pitch mode.
31:26
owning the room. I mean, asking questions really feels like there's an ownership to the direction of the chat. There's also understanding your fucking pecking order. You also I mean, the hierarchy,
31:37
but but it doesn't always work. Like those things like it like you. You've taught you've told stories of people that have the the panics and their internet connection tend to it's gone out, you know?
31:53
Yeah, sorry, I think connection just dropped.
31:57
I mean, that is a strategy there is it there was there strategy in disconnecting, just pretending like Sorry, I missed that like just but like I think that makes you where you were applying some of the awkwardness that you were feeling or sort of like the awkward moments to get into the bad internet and internet just finally had ducking she didn't he must, must have been that should.
32:22
Do you think there's evolution though. Jessie, you're probably fit You're much further down the line in terms of going into meetings and even having the sense of like, these feelings that Mason is this is Mason, a big meeting for young bloke who hasn't had much phone time is a big difference, right? And so you're thinking about questions to defuse awkwardness, but do you think awkwardness actually goes like you just call with us? Like whenever I'm just having a phone chat? Is that your experience?
32:55
Um, I feel like it is now I think, but I had to teach myself how to do it. Because when you when you're talking about a pitch if you did a lot of presenting in my old job, and so you would have to go into a room and you would have to meet three to four new people that you didn't know. And then you had to convince them that what you've put on this slide is the best approach to move forward with. And so there's not only the nerves of meeting someone new, but there's also the nerves of remembering what you need to say on a slide. And a lot of the time, he can't put too many words on the slides, he can't just read off it, you have to, you know, go into a state of remembering. So the way I coped with it was having three questions of like doing a bit of background research on the people or the company, or just news of the day, and knowing those things that I could bring up. And then the other thing was having an intro sentence for each slide, and it would just be written down the bottom because you know your shit, like if you write the slides, you know, what you've put up put on there and it'll come to you. But if you have that little intro sentence, I can just rattle it, the rest of
34:02
the pitching side is easier potentially then what saves was experiencing which is like it's not clearly a pitch. It's like these like getting to know like, when it's a, we just it's a getting to know you challenge. All of a sudden, it's like, ah, getting to know you Who am I? Like, what am I like? What am I talking about what it like so it's not selling in some regards is easier than this is closer to a first date that seven six years. Yeah,
34:31
yeah, it's the coffee catch up with no agenda. Yeah. And so you don't know where it's going to go. And so then it relies heavily on banter of just thing. I think, the Curiosity the learning is
34:45
that person called the meeting. And so it's actually their job in a lot of ways to drive what they want out of the meeting. And so I think, potentially, I gave too much info or context So the default wasn't driven, you could actually completely run the meeting and you'd be fine. Yeah, but I think there is a sense of you can go in there with that. But you also need to be just ready to completely let go and just go with what the other person is doing.
35:15
I think I think it is the ultimate example of how advice is dangerous, because even advice in a band to level is literally your internal monologue. Like that's what you would do. And so yeah, yeah,
35:29
I mean, I would do wish that you didn't bring up the David Blaine stuff
35:31
now. Absolutely not. Right To be honest. Now I I actually enjoyed it like the bit of like, man, like, what's what is that guy's weird, even yet even curious. What the hell's he talking about? Like, you know,
35:46
maybe, and maybe call you now that I call you now magical Mason around?
35:53
Maybe like Google that afterwards? You know?
35:56
Yeah. There's also a stickiness of like, When that person sees the David Blaine thing on the news, they're like, Ah, that guy he was Yeah, that'll make sense.
36:08
Potentially. That is you're thinking at that point to like that is the point about advices even though it could be the thing like, that is completely true what you just said. It's not there needs to be a honest connection between the person saying it as well. So it's like the script the scripted content versus he is what's really going on in my life wasn't switched
36:31
that's I read an article
36:32
it's completely scripted when he didn't watch the show. That is
36:35
no i did not. if if if sieves said, I watched it and I'm tired, then he's gone too far. Because what I said was, if you wanted to just give the context, you know, you could say I how are you going? Yeah, good. Yeah, I'm good. I went to bed early. But the guys the rest of They all stayed up and watched the David Blaine thing
37:03
and so why that would have been inferred was everyone in the team stayed up and watched it
37:07
that's what
37:09
at nine o'clock
37:10
Yeah, I was asleep
37:14
I think it was risky but trying to build a connection with something that you're not across the border that was because I thought you would have enough idea that it could be like
37:26
well I think that's also the danger like advice to people that like my said his level getting started. You could easily take on like that is a suggestion essentially. a suggestion not fucking here's what you need to say verbatim. Yeah, it's like I should have given more examples say what's going on Ask questions. Yeah. What's going on in your life? Right the whole thing that's all well as in my even to my son, what's going on in your life? What's important to you at the minute What are you interested in?
37:57
What's he gonna say? No, no, I great. I like it. NBS it you need to, like, you know what your biggest challenge
38:03
or because that's what the work that you do. And the beauty of the NBS sim MBs thing is that it's both ways. It's you, you asking amazing questions about him to get him his answers and then it's the questions that he needs to ask them about what they
38:20
up to. And I do that I think the funny thing is that Mike so Mason, what's your biggest challenge? He tells me I said, Well, here's a David Blaine bit
38:30
was that it was at a challenge with that you identified with Mason or not, or it's Josh has suggested bento danta for the sake of it.
38:41
I mean, it was it was did I did I mentioned to you, I feel like
38:47
that was one of the areas.
38:50
Josh says I have something like social anxiety. Do I have it? I think I do it
38:59
myself. Based on what we do before and you would write,
39:02
I, you know, it's you
39:04
just it's very, very just like, hey, Kelly, what's been going on? Just that sort of vibe? Yeah. grace. Grace was telling me that you actually text it midway through the lady asked you What's going on? She replied. He's just said, what's been happening? What's going on?
39:26
Yeah, I did. I did. That point. I'm like, that's probably if we've got a very unconventional sort of thing, but I feel if you pass a message to girlfriend because you're working from home, like hey, can you hear that? How's he gonna? Is he surviving? Is he okay? Is he had a panic attack? But it went well. And so that's the weakness is I pride myself on like, look how good I am and how much autonomy and trust but then I fucking believe By telling him David Blaine stories
40:04
now well it's my son You did well and I think as much as the banter sounds like it wasn't really that successful it's it was a success overall eight out of 10 but absolute one out of 10 on you recording your own audio for Tony law show
40:26
you not to be fat not even my fault. I'm I'm literally it was all fine 45 minutes to go and look I'm I don't have taky she's like I'm it's it's not like Jay Bay's you know recording I'm, I'm solid with my tech and for this to screw up. Yeah, it was it ruin the day to be honest.
40:48
Yeah. Well, I just heard listening back to one trick Tony and I heard Tony referenced that the podcast collaborator was watching the episode. My mind's instantly gone to our Josh is sitting in on this so that just in case Mason facts it again, was that
41:07
there was a bit of a do. It was like a do good type of thing where it's like tiny I know this is it's fact that we're having to do it again, but I'll be I'll let's let me come in and we can use it as that like, let's expand on it. And actually like I'll sit in on like this is the first one that I'm sitting in on and just saying how it is and we recorded video as well. So it was it was great. Yeah,
41:29
it was good ideas in that moment. I was like, oh, masons, this is the best. The beauty of it all was I only heard the extent of it. On the episode of one trick, Tony, I heard which was nice that I didn't get told too much about this, because I heard like, oh, there was a bit of a thing with the issue the audio and a bit someone said I'll be fine though.
41:53
What was the name? It was made because Tony wasn't feeling great. Yeah, and mace fact the audio and so those So Tony called me after the thing being like, feel like I'm in a bit of fucking don't think I'm funny. It's not good, blah, blah, blah. And then so I was like, let me listen to it. And then sibs calls me I might make you look fucking tired or something. What's wrong? He's like, your audio
42:18
was it's all gone.
42:22
I don't know what happened. David Blaine night just to do anything. And then from there, I said, Okay, well, I called Tony back in might look good news. The audio is fact anyway. So let's just not worry about it. Let's come. Let's do it again, as I actually am because I understand it's a bunch of what recording a whole thing again is a bunch of words. And I understand that sound like I okay, like I want to come in anyway, and we can try a different way of doing it.
42:53
Nice. And what was your heart rate on that phone call with Josh? Was it higher on the one the important one yes, the other day or the one with Josh.
43:01
Now Actually, it was it was actually, it was actually more depressing on the phone call with Josh to be honest because I was, you know, I wasn't I wasn't even in the mode of like, like, I don't think I was you weren't stressed because I was still trying to figure out how it actually happened. And so I wasn't even thinking about like, I'm gonna have to re record anyway, but I'm saying how the hell is this happened? Did you work
43:23
out what happened or no,
43:24
no idea. It's an
43:26
everything, you know, the setting happens. So
43:28
yeah, it was a great episode and it was used
43:33
us the opportunity to reflect on what she was feeling and also opened up. It's also like it's, it is how you get, you're getting content out of what's happening like you. It's perfect. The evolution of that.
43:47
Listen, yes, listening to yourself and expand like that's the beauty beauty of podcasts. Like when we spoke in the early days with Tony. We had a couple of episodes already recorded and we made the decision to release those straightaway so that then we could be a week by week show where we're not pre recording weeks in advance because it's like, shits constantly evolving. And there's also that connectedness that we're all like, isn't it funny how, like, I spoke to a client yesterday. Now like I yeah, it feels like, you know, my household is erupting at the mic. It seems like everyone goes through the cycles around a very similar time. And so I think it's good when you're doing a podcast to do it as close to the date of publish as possible. Yeah, definitely. Great. Alrighty. Well, you guys you've watched the David Blaine thing it was good.
44:37
Yeah, great.
44:38
I did I went I went and watched it yesterday. It's been underwhelming to be honest.
44:44
Well, but no, that's the problem watching back a live stream watching back our 24 hour live
44:48
die, but it was just a bit like even as it was actually a little bit disappointed with the tech To be honest, like I could have done way better like audio is a bit crap
44:58
and Hi Hi. saved at least I had the old Yeah.
45:03
I had audio it just came through the computer their mics and my computer sounds designed to be honest
feedback guys like the feedbacks coming back through his anyway
45:18
is critical, isn't he? Yeah. I'm curious with question sieves
45:22
if you're putting 5 million to that, that was a some that I guess I know. I know. Even if it's, it probably was
45:29
probably To be honest, I would I would search highlight video if there's some kind of fast cut that someone made. There wasn't a YouTuber mag. It's just watching that one which is
45:39
blowing up at people and then yeah, his daughter not being able to under work hard again. In fact, just just doing it but you can tell he's about to fucking rip the button off.
45:51
My dad can fucking get out of a striped jacket with his eyes closed underwater. Take your fucking cardigan off.
