Tommy Jackett: [00:00:00] Very low barrier to get into the ground
Josh Janssen: [00:00:07] with committed, to do the daily talk show for 10 years,
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:11] it in the calendar, just
Josh Janssen: [00:00:13] like to check the temperature in the room. I told you my
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:15] squeegee story,
Ryan Shelton: [00:00:20] Ryan
happy 1000th guys. It is an absolute honor to be here at this, especially at this stage of the game. I said to Josh, when, when you, when I spoke to you about a couple of weeks ago, whenever it was, I was like, I can't come on at the end. Like that's absolutely jumping on the bandwagon. Absolutely matches in
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:44] it's.
It's a nice,
Ryan Shelton: [00:00:47] yeah. Like I w I would've thought you guys would have wanted this time, unless you're kicking me out in five minutes. I would've thought you guys would have wanted this time for yourself
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:56] our first hour.
Ryan Shelton: [00:00:58] Um,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:00] so we're going until 10 tomorrow. This is the equivalent
Ryan Shelton: [00:01:03] of like the 6:00 AM hour breakfast.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:08] This is the final bit,
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:09] I mean, now we're 29 minutes on the nose right now. Now I'm 29 and, and,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:15] and Ryan you've, you've got, uh,
Ryan Shelton: [00:01:17] I got into it. You got into 11,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:19] 10 40. Uh, but I think TJ is wanting to make up a little bit of
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:23] time. Potentially. It should take us out.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:27] Is that. Okay. Well, how are you feeling timing wise, right?
What do you
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:29] got on at this time about, I mean, it's amazing. You've got a
Ryan Shelton: [00:01:32] stuff with America. I've got stuff with America, but it's not until like 2:00 AM. Sorry. That's the outfit
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:38] that you're actually dreading.
Ryan Shelton: [00:01:39] You see, I didn't think about that. This isn't American app. Now, the only reason I'm wearing this is because I've been keeping this hat.
It's been sitting in my closet for years. What's that said I only wear on a thousand shelves.
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:01] what is it? What's the, what's the brand
Ryan Shelton: [00:02:03] of it. You wouldn't have heard of it. RM Williams. It's a little, it's a little, little lab. So you've
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:11] come, you've come bearing gifts. Well, yeah,
Ryan Shelton: [00:02:14] I mean, I, yeah, I mean, it's slightly selfish. I thought like, well, I can't just, I can't have McDonald's tonight and feel good about it unless I make it like a gift, um, situation.
Yeah. So I've overspent, I've bought my guilt
Josh Janssen: [00:02:28] really well. I had a client say to me, um, I said, Oh, uh, would you like a coffee? I called them before they got here. I said, do you want coffees? I'm going to go get coffees. And they said, are you really going all out to impress us Josh? And I said, I said, actually, um, I just wanted the coffee.
And I thought it would be too awkward to sip my coffee during that's right.
Ryan Shelton: [00:02:52] It's a little bit of
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:53] this, but he laughed. He laughed and he loved
Ryan Shelton: [00:02:55] it. It's my hands. Huge. That'll be, that will be the promo, John, the biggest
Josh Janssen: [00:03:03] hands in the business. Can you actually
Ryan Shelton: [00:03:05] just say, um,
Josh Janssen: [00:03:10] Can I just get you saying the biggest hands in the business.
Ryan Shelton: [00:03:22] It reminds me of Joe, his hands, the biggest hands in the business. No,
Josh Janssen: [00:03:27] you don't, you don't have headphones on, but I put some sick reverb on that. No, I heard it
Ryan Shelton: [00:03:34] at first. I panicked and I thought it's already burst out of the studio.
Josh Janssen: [00:03:40] Um, I mean, GB and I have been having so much fun with the reverb. I felt like you could really get around it.
There's all sorts of fun. Things like GB. Um, do you want to go into the, the closet?
Ryan Shelton: [00:03:51] I just duck into the closet now.
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:53] Yep. W what's in there?
Ryan Shelton: [00:03:55] Uh, I'm an archivist so I can find some massive.
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:59] Yeah, it's a, it's quite big. There's a lot of
Ryan Shelton: [00:04:01] files and I can just look around. Yeah, you should really, I mean, especially when you're doing the show in that you should think about some like sound installation or something like that, but it's just a really, really, I can't wait.
You're going to be recording in there. I'm just saying depends a lot on getting rid of the sound. Oh really? You did. I did. I haven't yet. I was just looking at your mic, Stan. I want them,
Josh Janssen: [00:04:25] every guest gets one.
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:31] We do have two Spears.
Ryan Shelton: [00:04:32] I love these
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:32] cups. I love them. And you padded for that. So you,
Josh Janssen: [00:04:39] it, what have you done a thousand of in your life, right?
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:42] Cheeseburgers, other than you
Ryan Shelton: [00:04:44] can't say cheeseburgers per year pushups. Um, what a thousand of that's a great question. Well, I just did. I just did three and a half thousand kilometers in my car in or on a road trip.
I'm like, wow, where'd you go up up sort of past Newcastle? Uh, on like a little adventure with my girlfriend. It was great. It was really cute.
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:10] Did you have you've actually just come back from it. That's
Ryan Shelton: [00:05:14] just been on the bloody road.
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:16] Did you take that big hog down there, bro? Has it run? What are you paying per a hundred?
Um, I J I didn't even know what you're on fuel consumption per a hundred days. No,
Ryan Shelton: [00:05:27] it's not good. It's not good. Look, it's not, I'm not saving the world and that thing, but it did. I did have a rooftop tent on it, and we, if you ever seen those rooftop tents, they just pop up.
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:36] I did a live broadcast from one of those shops up in, um, Oh.
I told them all or something up in, you know, regional Victoria, but I, I did, you know, like a break. Uh, up in the tent, lying in there, get a guy's Tommy here, star fam. We're just down here, the, you know, blah, blah, blah, selling these camps, you know, come down. I'm in there right now. Cozy. Very nice though. I never not to actually sleep in it.
Ryan Shelton: [00:06:03] Well, I'm going to, the one we stayed in was like, we rented it and I think it was a, it's a good one. Like it's um, it's uh, it's like a, I don't know why I'm talking up the thing. It's like a carbon fiber carbon fiber shell. Yeah. And it literally just pops up. You pop the top and it goes up and then you just sleep inside.
It's like your own little room. Yeah. That's awesome.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:23] She elevated. So there's no, it's less snakes and
Ryan Shelton: [00:06:26] yeah, just all these talks and stuff. Don't get me.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:29] Um, carbon fiber is one of those things that has a good rap as in like got covered for you just saying carbon fiber knew it and Kevlar.
Ryan Shelton: [00:06:40] Yeah. Carbon fiber.
Yeah. It's it's uh, I don't even know what it is. Dunno. Like I know that it's probably strong things. I'm thinking strong light gray.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:49] Yeah. Yeah. I like that. It's got that color.
Ryan Shelton: [00:06:54] like that wave. It's probably like some sort of the
Josh Janssen: [00:06:55] wave. So the weird thing, I think of things in the cabin.
Ryan Shelton: [00:07:00] Georgie, do you want some chips?
I'm sure I've actually got a gift for you. Ryan got a gift for me yet. I've been holding onto this since, um, since Christmas I'm like, God, I haven't been able to find my mouth plight. Um, yeah. And I was like, Oh, it's taken too long. I'm just going to leave it. I was like always coming up. It's great. I can give it to me at Christmas Island.
Okay. Here it comes.
Tommy Jackett: [00:07:27] My God, what is this?
Ryan Shelton: [00:07:31] And he's jumped over there,
Josh Janssen: [00:07:34] but it hasn't had
Ryan Shelton: [00:07:35] to come off, knock my head off.
Um, some people may, may know that, uh, I do this website. I did these things every month. I released something on the 11th of every month. So I make videos and things, and it's just like a project, um,
Tommy Jackett: [00:07:54] is how you explain it to family Christmas. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [00:07:57] Well, what do you do, Ryan? What are you up to? Well, if it's a family Christmas, I say, Oh, well I do a lot of stuff with Hamish and Andy.
And they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's it. And they're like, Oh, this sounds like things are going great. It's like, Oh man, they made, they stopped being asked for even free one this. So on the L the last thing I did last year was a clothing range. Like a. Mentioned Dossie kind of thing. And when I sent all the things out for the people who bought them, I took a Polaroid of myself in their clothes that they bought and put it in the package with it.
So when they got it, they saw me wearing their clothes. That was like a, just a little stupid thing. George has bloody Christopher Nolan, me and, um, he's taken a photo of himself in it, holding the photo of me holding his clothes. Nobody's getting things Christmas. . Thank you, George. Thank you. It was lovely. I live in it and it's coming out of it.
I wear it all the time.
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:05] I'm only wearing this because
Ryan Shelton: [00:09:06] it's my archivist jacket.
Josh Janssen: [00:09:07] I feel like this is perfect. Timing, George, over to you asking Ryan
Ryan Shelton: [00:09:14] for the archives. No, no, no, no. You're winning.
Josh Janssen: [00:09:17] Oh,
Ryan Shelton: [00:09:20] right. Okay. Okay.
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:25] Say what you really want that. No, you've put me on the spot here, Josh.
Ryan Shelton: [00:09:31] Incredibly exciting.
We're not getting, we're not engaged.
Josh Janssen: [00:09:37] Yeah. So yeah, no. So it had a hand and have been together for a long time, then they're not engaged.
Ryan Shelton: [00:09:44] This was like, okay. I was just telling the guys this morning that a few months ago we were just riding out list of people that we'd get to our wedding. And then I was like, I reckon by the time we get married, it would be like probably five years or something.
I reckon Opry. Ryan will prey. Wouldn't be on the BMC table. So if this isn't ending in an environment,
what'd you come to my wedding? If I invited you, I would love to be your best, man.
This is amazing. When's the wedding? Anything in yet?
yeah,
George, I would be absolutely honored very much to be, um, on the, you say head table with him. Well, yeah. Is
Josh Janssen: [00:10:47] it wrong that Jay Bay will now propose to
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:53] one 10 for
Ryan Shelton: [00:10:53] the last hour and a half? Yeah. It's a great way to bring us home.
proposal. You need, if only he should have got like a Megatron and then you could, like, it could be on the Megatron on the show.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:09] If you actually read the, um, the golf ball, is it marry me? She didn't look at it.
Ryan Shelton: [00:11:15] It's a missed opportunity,
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:18] Ryan, have you just while we're on George and he's and he's I'm crafty work.
Have you seen the. And at that George has put together to celebrate episode 1000. No. Would you like to see
Ryan Shelton: [00:11:30] it? I would love to say I love these edits. Oh, okay.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:35] All right. Here we go. All right. So here it is. Here is, uh, Jody boy's edit of looking back at the last 1000 episodes. Of the daily talk show,
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:49] 48,000 minutes.
And when you hear four, which equals 800 hours. Yeah. Quite some time, which equals 33.333 recurring days, just over a month. 175 guests, special guests in the studio. Five unreleased episodes, no chancellor
Josh Janssen: [00:12:07] sounding again. No, it's fucked.
Tommy Jackett: [00:12:09] 280 remote shows during COVID put your hands up in the air. If you're feeling a bit flat, one 24
Ryan Shelton: [00:12:14] hour live streams, you're looking fresh.
You look good.
Tommy Jackett: [00:12:17] Three breakdowns. It's so fucking emotional, countless broken promises. A Seth
Josh Janssen: [00:12:22] Godin book written by me. I'll do the whole fucking thing. A few kept promises. It's been a promise. It's taken awhile,
Tommy Jackett: [00:12:28] but we're here a thousand episodes. We're going to get to a thousand episodes. We might need some good strategies of how to deal with each other and a whole lot of bloody fun.
Play the highlights.
Josh Janssen: [00:12:42] This is Tommy and Josh shoes. You show. The daily talk
Ryan Shelton: [00:12:47] show too. Looks so
Tommy Jackett: [00:12:49] fucking awkward right now, how you're having to lean over to his
Josh Janssen: [00:12:52] microphone. I promise every episode, you're not going to be nostalgic nostalgia alert. It is 1150
Tommy Jackett: [00:12:59] in the morning. What time it is cause they're listening to it. The time now most referenced episode came up nice and early at 14, we're not telling anyone
Josh Janssen: [00:13:08] about this podcast.
I was experimenting and that included using the squeegee in the shower and sticking the handle in my,
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:17] then the milestone started rolling episode 40 happy 50th episode, John, I'd be happy for us to get to a hundred episodes of this podcast and fucking call it die.
Josh Janssen: [00:13:26] Yeah. However the hundred and 10th episode is when things fucking go bang.
We did it for the next
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:34] hundred ish episodes. Josh was traveling
Josh Janssen: [00:13:36] through Europe. I think this is peak man flu. Right now, the boys
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:40] met up in New York to interview their idol, Seth Godin, and they recorded episode 200 from in and out
Ryan Shelton: [00:13:45] burger,
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:45] 200 fast forward to January, 2019. They committed to filming every episode.
And for some reason they always wore black and white t-shirts. He's just fucking things dumb Mr. 97, joined the team and showed what he could do on the food front. You are the gift that keeps on giving. He also proved he was up for anything. They threw
Josh Janssen: [00:14:03] at him 50 likes on this comment and Mr. 97 will bleach his
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:07] hair.
But the lack of air-con all got a bit too much for
Ryan Shelton: [00:14:10] Josh. I don't like heat. They
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:13] had to move offices and build a $45,000 studio. Let's pretend you're not a trust fund. Babies. Dale came over from Canada to do a four month internship and he managed to write an entire book, putting Josh's Seth Godin book from us to Shane,
Josh Janssen: [00:14:27] Josh binding.
You can, is phenomenal
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:30] in a quick two-day trip to Sydney. They managed to pump out 10 episodes, not bad, actually. Quite impressive.
Josh Janssen: [00:14:38] On my pants
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:40] episode 500 was a big event. The highest level of testosterone
from Hayden. They even got the original logo tattooed. The boys were then off to America, underaged Mason managed to sneak into a bar. Can we talk about
Josh Janssen: [00:14:54] the ID thing or should we just avoid that
Ryan Shelton: [00:14:56] completely? And they did edibles
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:58] apparently just didn't feel
Ryan Shelton: [00:14:59] anything.
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:03] January, 2020, Ron Shelton joined us for a live show, raising money for bushfire relief.
Ryan Shelton: [00:15:09] Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:11] Soon after it was time, the bloody pandemic throwing a spanner in
Josh Janssen: [00:15:15] the works. I sort of got my way didn't I. I go to, I'm really wanting to work from home to here. I am.
Ryan Shelton: [00:15:22] We decided to go hard
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:23] and connect with people all over the world.
We even did a 24 hour live stream. Grace and Mason started chatting and then started dating. Update rape. I was born. Got it. That was fun. It then evolved into its own podcast and we started making a whole bunch of other
Josh Janssen: [00:15:39] podcasts and welcome to
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:41] screenplay. Sunday. We came back in the studio
Josh Janssen: [00:15:43] temporarily. I fucking hate being back at the office.
Ryan Shelton: [00:15:45] I'm done
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:47] with the episode 800, we went back into lockdown. The feeling of burnout was starting to become real.
Ryan Shelton: [00:15:52] I push it out. I believe to be a
I project out.
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:07] But we pushed through with some great guests, met up in a park for Mason's 21st. Tommy had some big news. We're having another baby. We ordered some big cups. We created the cam quota club and Josh got obsessed with golf. And that pretty much brings us to now it is F1 thousand week. Yeah, a massive thank you to all the guests and grownups who've joined us on this ride.
We couldn't have done it without your listening. And we are pumped to keep this baby going for the next seven years. We'll be back tomorrow, back to the show.
we get a bundle of Maui. Hang on. Cutting to George. We're going to, here we go. Could take out the ceiling. Standby.
Ryan Shelton: [00:16:55] Here we go. Right there
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:02] drinking my wet out of cups.
Ryan Shelton: [00:17:04] Mojito Maui. I believe it's a Moet.
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:12] no, but what is it? I don't know. I have no idea. No typical. Uh,
Ryan Shelton: [00:17:17] yeah. Have a little tipple. Here we go guys. Congratulations. What an incredible thing. It is an incredible thing. A thousand shows. Yeah. It's really is astonishing because of you, you guys a little bit. It's amazing. Yeah. That's an amazing edit George.
Like it's so wonderful. Incredible. Yeah. It's so it's such an, uh, an emotive journey. I'm like it real, like that's amazing. Yeah. That section where, where that, that breakdown section. Was that, what was that? Tell me which one is,
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:55] yeah, George would be he's the archivist. If you want to send him into the cupboard to just talk to us about what, what happened in there was that
Ryan Shelton: [00:18:03] it was, that was, that was that like a Josh, Josh broke down.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:08] John, can you pass that one? Josh was crying
Ryan Shelton: [00:18:11] episode 800. And just from pure emotion, I think of just making it to 800 episodes. Yeah. And, but we weren't very good support because we were just pissing ourselves, laughing at him and Tommy's was actually a quite, quite emotional.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:28] Mine was funny.
What was Tommy's about, do you remember? Oh, it was about being a
Ryan Shelton: [00:18:35] parent being more emotional as a parent. I think
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:38] the middle of COVID I think you were just, Oh, it was about the guilt. Of, uh, it was the guilt of not being able to spend time with the kid or being able to be present a lot of guilt being a parent.
Yeah. I can imagine cried. It's fucking awesome.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:57] Geez, I didn't drink any
Ryan Shelton: [00:18:59] to do you guys cheese
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:02] Ryan credible. Cheers, everybody. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers guys.
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:11] Hmm. Wow. Out of crystal. Beautiful,
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:15] amazing end. Sorry. Party continues.
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:20] This is from Trevor long. Oh
Josh Janssen: [00:19:23] my
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:23] God. My wedding Chandon is this similar bottom, like, is that the same bottle? He knows that we're. Yeah, we're going strong tonight on the at
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:33] jeez,
Josh Janssen: [00:19:35] actually I need to blow my nose here. A little, a boogie in my nose.
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:39] Everything stopped.
Josh Janssen: [00:19:46] like
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:47] when I laughed you. Okay. Is this, are you going to explore?
Josh Janssen: [00:19:56] will do the
Ryan Shelton: [00:19:56] job, Mike. Oh, wow. How often does that happen?
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:02] Every shift. Every hour.
Ryan Shelton: [00:20:06] Josh. You haven't got it. You haven't got it. Okay. Well you let us know. You want me to hold the tissue for, do you need another one? Do you need to chase? You've got
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:14] to do a Bushman's blow on it. Oh, that's disgusting.
Ryan Shelton: [00:20:21] Sorry. No, I didn't mean to show happy one.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:26] We all have it. Don't we.
Ryan Shelton: [00:20:28] Yeah. Sometimes
Josh Janssen: [00:20:30] we actually got a review from a, a person named Stella sang. She'd stop listening based on talking about snot.
Ryan Shelton: [00:20:37] Yeah. Yeah. Oh, do you talk about it that much?
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:40] No. What was that about? I literally
Josh Janssen: [00:20:42] said like, I'll do the question I asked TJ was, do you have dry snot or wet snot?
And that was enough to get a one-star review for someone who said they were a big fan previously. Okay.
Ryan Shelton: [00:20:59] I know,
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:00] I know. So, I mean, this is lovely. This is lovely having you here, having this from Trevor. I mean, you guys all here. Yeah. It's really
Ryan Shelton: [00:21:08] nice that I didn't bring it. Mow it or that the McDonald's I bought is probably the same amount of money. You know, what it all shapes and sizes and exactly. There's literally, there is George.
You want fries? You didn't grab yours. I don't know why I'm like pushing McDonald's so much, but I bought so much
Josh Janssen: [00:21:37] when he says, bought so much of it. He means stock. He owns a lot of McDonald's. Who
Ryan Shelton: [00:21:41] does not get you into
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:44] any investing crypto or stocks?
Ryan Shelton: [00:21:45] Nah, not at all. I, it investing, um, like money investing kind of scares me. I'm not scares me, but I just don't want to have to learn about it and I don't want to have to follow it.
And I know that if, if, like, I think, I think I've got like a BHP shares from when I was 15 or something like that. But other than that, No, I don't want to have to be honest with you. I've got an oil rig. Nothing really that I can think of. Um, yeah, no, I, I just, I don't want the pressure of having to like check stock prices or, or then having the regret of not selling when everyone's like, Oh, you should have sold.
You didn't sell last week. You should have sold. I don't want that.
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:27] Have you read the barefoot book?
Ryan Shelton: [00:22:30] I haven't, but my girlfriend has about eight accounts with
she read it. Yeah. But I, I, I haven't read it. Yeah, you have.
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:43] I listened to the audio book on the way to his place, because he told me that I need to probably have a read of it before his place. He's a client of ours and we, and I did some work with him at the farm and I had, and I was like, I better. And so I use Josh's audible account.
That's right.
Ryan Shelton: [00:22:59] Yeah. Listen, one of the credits I have,
Josh Janssen: [00:23:03] yeah. I probably already owned it. I've definitely offered you before my, my audible account, I reckon. Nah,
Ryan Shelton: [00:23:13] nah, nah, I don't remember. I don't remember if
definitely have. Yeah. Okay. Well let's agree to agree. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:26] Well, yeah. This is episode 1000. So I'd prefer if you didn't bring up. Yeah,
Ryan Shelton: [00:23:31] no, he definitely, uh, Josh definitely offered me. He's all my show is extremely generous. That's my shirt too. Yeah, this is Josh's shirt. My hat,
Josh Janssen: [00:23:42] my shirt. I remember the roses.
Ryan Shelton: [00:23:45] Well, you wouldn't forget the roses.
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:46] Shoot. You have any capital or you bought it for tonight
Ryan Shelton: [00:23:49] having a cabin. That is great. Yeah, but again, it's like, no, it's not the one that it just says Josh on the Bay.
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:59] When have you worn that shirt?
Ryan Shelton: [00:24:01] I, I reckon I've only wanted a couple of times, but you know, when this comes out, um, you're so polite.
It's just a beautiful hat. I have no idea why I have this hat. I have a feeling. I, I got it for like a shoot. Yeah. At some point, um, and then got to keep it. And I don't really know. I don't really know when, like this is the great chance to wear it, obviously. Um, but it's just, I just love it.
Josh Janssen: [00:24:31] Oh, it goes, we've got someone downstairs right now.
Oh,
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:34] that's another, that's another Ryan all day. We've been getting
Josh Janssen: [00:24:39] Uber deliveries from random drunks who were watching the show.
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:43] First pottery. First bottle of Moet. Chandon was from, uh, Josh from
Josh Janssen: [00:24:47] New York. Then we had Trevor long from Sydney
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:51] and we've had Charles deliver Charles wine since a bunch of stuff does it, many, many things.
So what's this.
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:00] Oh, this is exciting. Well, so yeah, let's see what it looks like. Takeaway food or something. So yeah. Oh, hang on. Where's the toilet paper tissues. Here we go.
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:08] Okay. That's one of the more
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:10] disappointing ones, Charles.
Josh Janssen: [00:25:12] Charles, bro.
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:14] You can open it, Ryan. It's a bomb.
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:19] Okay. What's happened. That's so sweet.
lovely.
Josh Janssen: [00:25:30] Charles, Charles from Beth
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:33] now. Thank you, Charles. Ah, your mother snake. Uh,
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:41] Oh, I know. Do you love a snake?
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:43] Well, the favorite, not, not disproportionately. I love a snake if they're going around, but I'm not buying snakes probably. Really. I don't really buy just,
Josh Janssen: [00:25:54] you know,
Ryan Shelton: [00:25:55] you don't know. I never buy lollies
Josh Janssen: [00:25:57] when I was chatting to you.
Um, uh, the other day on the phone, I tried to guess. Uh, what you're making for
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:05] lunch. Did you get well, I mean, yeah, it would have been an incredible guess. What'd you guess
Josh Janssen: [00:26:09] again, I thought you were having a tuna melt
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:12] because that's what you were having.
Tommy Jackett: [00:26:17] give me some context. I want to guess to
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:20] where was I when you're making, just at home, the farm life farm life. I think I
Josh Janssen: [00:26:26] read, so you already know, they told
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:29] me I was right next
Tommy Jackett: [00:26:30] to you. Okay. Um, and it's obscure
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:33] very well. Tuna mill, whatever he had. I was shocked. Oh, I don't even remember.
Tommy Jackett: [00:26:39] Yeah. I reckon it was, um, couscous, uh, with, um, V it was chicken
Ryan Shelton: [00:26:52] so wrong. No,
Josh Janssen: [00:26:55] no, it actually, um, it was a wrap. With a bunch of like veggies and
Ryan Shelton: [00:27:00] salad, our church. It was, yeah, it was just a salad wrap salad, right? No, no, but I ate, I ate mainly vegetarian probably. Um, I'm trying to actually, um, if you wanna get, like, I wanna get into it. Um, um, yeah, for the last like year I've probably been doing, I've been doing vegan two meals a day.
That's good. Yeah. And so
Josh Janssen: [00:27:22] which, which meal do you not have
Ryan Shelton: [00:27:25] vegan? It depends. It depends like usually dinner because dinner is usually the one you go out for. So I can leave myself open to whatever. Yeah. Rather than having to make it easy for myself. But yeah, but breakfast is easy lunch. If you're doing itself easy, it's not hard.
Did you bring your torch? No, I figured you'd have yours. Did you get one like a 10,000 limit? The same one? So I am bloody one. Yeah. Yeah. Literally I was so influenced. I saw it on the show and I was like, well, I need it. I need 10,000 lumens in my life. And,
Tommy Jackett: [00:27:59] um, have you used it like spot any animals? Cause you have, like, you can actually around here, it's like quite light still, even though it shines everything, but in the Bush it's dark
Ryan Shelton: [00:28:11] on the, on the three, on the road trip we were camping.
And if there was ever like a rustle in the bushes, like I had no idea what was going on.
there was one campsite where there were these couple of wallabies, like jumping around and we had pancakes one morning and there was like, we dropped it on the ground. So just put it in the fire to then burn that night. Yeah. And, and as we were like leaving the campsite, there was a wall would be like hanging around and I was like, Want that pancake and jam.
My girlfriend was like, wallabies, donate pancakes. I was like, Wallaby's going to eat a pancake. Like, is it like, well, it'd be like, what is the Wallaby grass, plants fucking pancakes. Yeah. So, and then as we were leaving, we turned that back for like two seconds. It's in the fire pit in the morning and ate and like literally holding it with its paws and eating.
I've got, I think we've got a photo of it on Monday.
Josh Janssen: [00:29:12] So you hit him with the 10,000?
Ryan Shelton: [00:29:14] No, no. This is a separate stroke
Josh Janssen: [00:29:19] kill story. How much have you used
Ryan Shelton: [00:29:21] the stroke feature? I didn't even know. There was a strobe feature. You hold it down for how
Josh Janssen: [00:29:25] long? Fucking five seconds. And you'll blow someone's eyes out.
Ryan Shelton: [00:29:31] You've been on air for too long. That's crazy. It's actually crazy.
Tommy Jackett: [00:29:37] I once tried to. Do you think I, this is the question. Do you think
Ryan Shelton: [00:29:44] it's really good? Fun to be a game
Tommy Jackett: [00:29:47] I'm turning into games. Can we feel free to bring any games to the table? Especially you George. I like your games. Any kind of we'll come back. Eating chicken nuggets in North Bondai, near the, near the beach. Beautiful. Near, near the beach. Beautiful spot. What's the origins of there.
Oh man. If I can get through some chicken nugget to the pigeon and a seagull. Oh no, not a single pigeon. Do you think about it? Yes. Josh, wake up. I thought you fell asleep for a second.
Josh Janssen: [00:30:26] No, I'm going to go with, so you had some chicken
Tommy Jackett: [00:30:30] nuggets. Do you think a pigeon would take my chicken nugget? Definitely.
Yes, George? Yeah. I'm going to look in. Yes, it was no.
Josh Janssen: [00:30:37] Really? Is it a sweet and sour sauce on them? No, that's why pick it up and spit it out?
Tommy Jackett: [00:30:42] Nah, I don't think pigeons. Eat chicken
Ryan Shelton: [00:30:45] nuggets. Chicken nuggets.
What
Tommy Jackett: [00:30:48] about schnitzel? Snitzel
Ryan Shelton: [00:30:52] snitch now. What'd you say snitching evenings here? No,
Josh Janssen: [00:30:58] no, this is how Jay out GM Jess says snitzel.
Ryan Shelton: [00:31:03] What is it
snitch? So she swapped him rarely saying snitches. I know another person who does that, is that you have that friend from Bendigo? No, no, yes. I've heard someone say she Mitchell before, but double shush, initial Mitchell and people would say snitzel. I mean, that, that would be more common with
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:31] schnitzel.
Ryan Shelton: [00:31:32] Yeah. Do you like Palm? Do you like Palmers? Yeah. Well, yeah, I'd actually prefer it without the ham. Okay.
Josh Janssen: [00:31:38] Yeah, sure. Uh, have you been to Mrs.
Ryan Shelton: [00:31:41] Palmer's? No, that's the one in the city. Isn't it? Yeah, I know about it. And do
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:46] you mention that because it's good or is it
Josh Janssen: [00:31:50] nah, it's because it's in the name and I think, yeah, it just, it's a place that has a lot of
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:54] Palmer's donut King.
Isn't the King of donuts.
Josh Janssen: [00:31:59] Like, are you, um, are you much of a CBD guy as in yeah. Central business
Ryan Shelton: [00:32:03] district? I live in Fitzroy, so I'm always, I always in the city with homies around the city. Yeah. What's your favorite part about
Josh Janssen: [00:32:10] the CBD?
Ryan Shelton: [00:32:13] Um, I love walking through it, so I used to, I mean, I guess I still do, um, not as much recently, but like our offices in South Melbourne and I'm in Fitzroy.
So I'll when I w I've got to work. I'd walk through the city, pass it, like
Josh Janssen: [00:32:26] Spencer street sort of thing all the way down in Clarendon. I
Ryan Shelton: [00:32:29] do Collins Collins. Yeah. Usually I'd usually walk down Collins and cross Collins to Paris
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:34] end. You got to walk through the pack of sand to get to the other.
Ryan Shelton: [00:32:39] beautiful.
Beautiful. Do they
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:40] call
Josh Janssen: [00:32:41] it filming? I was filming someone's show real. There was a voiceover artist that wanted to get in to do some presenting, a show, real show, real voiceover. So it was a voiceover
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:51] artist. Yeah. When he's a bike into
Josh Janssen: [00:32:53] the, I'm looking at presenting things, this was 10 years ago. And so, uh, I just remember filming sort of a whip pan and she S whip pan.
And she says, now we're in the Paris. End of Collins, straight. And as a guy who was from the suburbs, I was fucking perplexed. I didn't know what was going
Ryan Shelton: [00:33:13] on. It's a bit wonky. Isn't it? Harrison, maybe back in the day, it was more Paris than the rest of Melbourne, but now the rest of Melbourne city has kind of caught up unless it's got an Eiffel tower.
Tommy Jackett: [00:33:25] Surely it's just cause of all the, uh, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, just all the designer shops. That's the only connection to Paris probably. But then there's a bunch of shit areas in Paris. There's a McDonald's but then there's high fashion in Paris. Uh,
Josh Janssen: [00:33:41] Brian and I actually spent a. A lot of money on crepes at the bottom of the Eiffel tower.
Dan, have you ever,
Ryan Shelton: [00:33:49] have you ever had engine? I can only imagine how expensive this is silly, silly
Josh Janssen: [00:33:53] over. I think it was 29 euros for two crepes. Yeah. Yeah. It came with a little, little bit of syrup. Oh
Ryan Shelton: [00:34:01] yeah. Well worth it. It
Josh Janssen: [00:34:03] was good. Have you ever fallen into a tourist trap? Which throws back to a segment?
Jamie, can you go get some tourist trap stuff?
Ryan Shelton: [00:34:16] He's pissed
Josh Janssen: [00:34:16] off. The archivist is fucking ready.
Ryan Shelton: [00:34:20] Is that really your archivist jacket? Yeah. How much would you pay for it from? Um,
Tommy Jackett: [00:34:24] not that good game. Good game. Can you fascia, can you go out the door? Come back and get, yeah. Thank you. Okay, here we
Josh Janssen: [00:34:30] go. So Georgie boy is going to
Ryan Shelton: [00:34:32] matrix. Isn't it
Josh Janssen: [00:34:35] ready? And three, two, one.
Ryan Shelton: [00:34:45] It's from the op shop, I guess the price. Okay. The price is, I'm going to say. $12, double it. 25, 24 or tricky.
guess what he's a
Josh Janssen: [00:35:03] dad does as a job. Guess what? He is
Tommy Jackett: [00:35:06] great guy, because he won't get it very obscure,
Ryan Shelton: [00:35:09] like his lunch to continue the theme and actuary
Yeah, totally. It actually actually is. Yeah, shit. I mean, that's an amazing gap. That might be one of the best gets
I only know, because in high school, my friend's older brother was the maths genius at school. He was so good at maths and he's and he was planning on trying to become an actuary. And I remember, and maybe you can clarify this. I remember at the time it was like an actuary. That's weird. But then he was like, no, no, no.
There's only a few actuaries. There's not many actuaries. So it's like, once you're an actuary, you're in like, once you get a job. Cause it's like for insurance companies and stuff like that, isn't it it's spot on. Yeah. My dad was the Australian government extra. He was the one, one for the government. I mean, like, we're just saying, would that jacket?
If you got sunglasses here,
be fashion. If you imagine you've got glasses, sunglasses on, and can you do the matrix like that in front of a camera? Jamie, do
Josh Janssen: [00:36:44] do it over. And the, um, you know, when
Neo
Tommy Jackett: [00:36:46] gets shot at, and
Ryan Shelton: [00:36:48] then he Dodges the bullets, they're like,
Tommy Jackett: [00:36:51] you know, in the matrix
Ryan Shelton: [00:36:52] that hat is drumming. You crazy. Okay. Ready? Now if he's in the matrix, same matrix, one of the best films you've seen the shot though of him like dodging the ball.
Uh, no, that's good again.
Oh
Tommy Jackett: [00:37:10] yeah. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [00:37:12] You know what? This is fine. This is like, if this was, if matrix five and it's in the future and Neo had a son who became an actuary, this is what he would look like.
Do you look like your dad
Tommy Jackett: [00:37:32] a little bit? Just gauge, like, not really thinking about you as an older man, if that's you, that's your dad. Yeah, a little bit,
Ryan Shelton: [00:37:39] bit
Josh Janssen: [00:37:39] grayer. Jamie. Jamie, can you explain what your, what your dad actually does nowadays? Now he
Ryan Shelton: [00:37:45] works for,
Tommy Jackett: [00:37:47] he cooks books for the cartel. He does. Um,
Ryan Shelton: [00:37:50] So interesting fact about superannuation in Fiji.
I was meaning to ask you one of those. Yeah. Everyone in Fiji is on the same Superfund. There's only one. Oh God, what a racket. And so he works for that super
Josh Janssen: [00:38:03] fund. Now can you say with the rule,
Tommy Jackett: [00:38:05] the rule is,
Ryan Shelton: [00:38:06] well, you know, with our supers, how it's like stock that goes up and down in Fiji, it can only go up
Josh Janssen: [00:38:14] it's George's dad's job to make sure it just goes up
Tommy Jackett: [00:38:19] well, to make
Ryan Shelton: [00:38:19] sure that they've got enough money in the bank, that if he did his job, it would be unprecedented because if he went like I'm going to put him down, put him down no much.
He put some, I think he just has to work out that they've got enough money in the bank to like, make sure it can go up even a little bit. Okay. Gotcha. Yep. With the economy crashing this year, last year, because of
Josh Janssen: [00:38:42] COVID a bit of an issue. Hey, you have to top up money then from the government. I dunno. I
Ryan Shelton: [00:38:48] dunno, Matt.
Um, I think he just, I think
Tommy Jackett: [00:38:52] he just,
Ryan Shelton: [00:38:52] he just looks at the figures and just guys. Yeah. You can really give, give them a little bit more here or
Tommy Jackett: [00:38:58] yeah. Okay. A lot of
Ryan Shelton: [00:38:59] pressure on him. Yeah. Are you a maths person? No, no, no. I stopped mass in year 10. Yeah. Yeah. Further maths. Is that what it's called? That was as cold for me now.
I think that's Oh, is that like the highest level? One second? It's the, it's the condescending? Yeah. Yeah. Six six is 36, six, six Oh 36. Yeah. Yeah. Give me another one. I'm good at times table. Cause I remember the song I dates 60 for
Tommy Jackett: [00:39:32] doing that. Yeah. These ones are probably the easiest. I mean dummy and I know those
Ryan Shelton: [00:39:35] ones.
Give me, give me the hardest. What are your, maybe we can ask your dad.
Tommy Jackett: [00:39:40] What's a heart.
Ryan Shelton: [00:39:42] 63. I know. 56. So that's seven
Josh Janssen: [00:39:46] nights, seven nights. Hey Siri.
Ryan Shelton: [00:39:49] Fuck. That's a nine 63. Oh, that sounds good. All right. Seven, eight, eight, seven 56. I'm pretty sure.
Tommy Jackett: [00:40:01] Well, yeah, you're right. I
Ryan Shelton: [00:40:04] mean, electric television
Josh Janssen: [00:40:07] and
Ryan Shelton: [00:40:09] tell us,
Tommy Jackett: [00:40:11] we actually being broadcast on
Josh Janssen: [00:40:12] Gretchen is online television.
Ryan Shelton: [00:40:14] Wow. Oh, you know what? We got early this morning. Someone said Rove, live vibes. Big compliment. Yeah. That's that's well, I mean, it must've been wrote the culture
let's get into it. Definitely not. It's a wonderful culture. Yeah, that wonderful culture
Josh Janssen: [00:40:40] she's taking a big sip out of is Chandon. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [00:40:44] God, these cups are great. They
Josh Janssen: [00:40:45] are good. They really they're their cups that you just on a Friday night, seriously, when you're sort of at home chilling, you, you stay hydrated
Ryan Shelton: [00:40:55] was the, um, I missed this part of the story, but w what was the Genesis behind?
Yeah,
Josh Janssen: [00:41:00] I just felt like there wasn't any big cups in Australia. Okay. Yep.
Ryan Shelton: [00:41:03] And so, yeah. And it was yummy to bring them from overseas. Yes. Yeah. They're from America. Yes. Well, from America, that's like, that's a small cup.
Josh Janssen: [00:41:16] Yeah. Well, that's, yeah, that's the thing. Yeah, it is actually big. And so I did look at sort of, um, there's some big ones we should
Tommy Jackett: [00:41:24] take in one show on seven 11 on free Slurpee day.
Yeah. I mean, but
Josh Janssen: [00:41:28] they're not silly. They're not ridiculous. Are they? Yeah. But,
Ryan Shelton: [00:41:32] um, what do you think of the color? I like it. No, this is, this is my, this is like, um, I love this yellow, yellow, this is my yellow. What else do you have in that color? Um, well, those jumpers are kind of, it's yellow almost. Oh yeah.
It's like kind of gold yellow. Um, but it's actually, it's like, so the red, yellow, and blue that I have on my website that I use for like color, like the primary colors there, the, that blue, red and yellow are the like computer system colors. That's like, if you boil down just the very core colors of a computer to like the 16 or whatever it is, that's the yellow.
Cool. That's the yellow. Yeah. Cool. Do you get them made in the carpet? Yes, it looks great. Yeah. So the carpet in my studio
Tommy Jackett: [00:42:19] is that the, yeah. The different the
Ryan Shelton: [00:42:23] colon off. Yeah. Yeah. I was on a call like with, with proper people, like a proper work call in that room and I was absolutely torn to shreds. That's a mind that people from my children's daycare sort of thing.
Yeah. Yeah. What were they in? Where were they just like they're in their house
Tommy Jackett: [00:42:42] or did you have any good comeback seat? You couldn't say cause proper meeting. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [00:42:46] I was like, fuck you. That would got them real good and stuff like that fucking asshole or, you know, but I couldn't think of something that witty at the time.
So yeah. So that you were being bullied. Yeah. But it was, it was, it was in fun, but yeah, I'd like to, I'd like to make a formal complaint. That's the way to do it. Excellent. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah, I know. And
Josh Janssen: [00:43:11] anything else you want us to get? So. So toxic,
Ryan Shelton: [00:43:16] no, this meeting, this is more tight. This is not, this is lovely.
I'm having a great time. Um, now once this is done, like a thousand, is there the whole show? Like this episode just today? What's what are the, have you talked about past 1000?
Tommy Jackett: [00:43:35] Because we were thinking about milestones. They're all milestones before you've hit the thousand, then it's like, it doesn't feel
Ryan Shelton: [00:43:42] like it's like, after you turned 21, it's a long wait until something fun, again,
Tommy Jackett: [00:43:47] like two thousands, the real milestone.
A hundred . Yeah. But yeah, you want the 2000,
Ryan Shelton: [00:43:57] do you want 2000? Is that like the next goal? You want to get
Josh Janssen: [00:44:00] 10,000? Sorry. 10 years is
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:05] the plan. That's right. How many episodes that. That's
Josh Janssen: [00:44:07] about three and a bit thousand. Okay. Jeez, actually, have you got a GBU? Never used it. Uh, TJ doing the maths on bodies' age with the podcast.
Could you play that?
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:21] How old Bodie will be? Yeah,
Tommy Jackett: [00:44:24] no, that's why you want to play it. Yeah. That's exactly why you want to play it. Yeah,
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:29] no, I can
Josh Janssen: [00:44:29] just tell it to you. Should I just
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:31] tell him or tell him?
Tommy Jackett: [00:44:33] Yeah, it's funny is he can't speak because you have another kid, but when you have a kid, there's a time that you can see, which is in one year and then you birth in the next year.
So fucks my head to think when we got pregnant versus when the baby came and I just, so I've lost sleep in those years beyond that
Josh Janssen: [00:44:52] JV, what is he, what is he saying? What was the idea now you were just talking
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:55] about.
Tommy Jackett: [00:44:56] Oh, we should start getting bits to play to Bodie
Ryan Shelton: [00:44:58] when, when he's older. And you're like, yeah.
I mean, by
Tommy Jackett: [00:45:02] the time we've done a thousand episodes, he'll be able to like watch. It was actually in here today on the couch, sitting there watching, what does he think about? I think he, he sees himself on there, but even so think about that's exactly what happened today. So I don't know how that's wrong, but when you're playing,
Josh Janssen: [00:45:19] look, I didn't want to end on a
Tommy Jackett: [00:45:20] cloud playing,
Ryan Shelton: [00:45:21] playing a video fucking
Josh Janssen: [00:45:25] stat.
Don't bring your
Ryan Shelton: [00:45:27] rough
Um,
Tommy Jackett: [00:45:35] so we were playing a video of Josh, Josh looking after Bodie as a baby for the day, it was like, No, Joe strapped to Josh taking him around the bodies' watching it and we'll cut in to Bodhi as a, did he recognize it? I love it. He's obsessed. He's a narcissist know,
Ryan Shelton: [00:45:52] learn from the best. It's got a drone yet.
Oh, it's so funny with drones. Well, how did he know that he was like it bellies actually. Well, tell me too, because I remember you when you got, I remember when you got your drone, I remember you doing those amazing drone things. Just obsessed with it. Like, I feel like that would be one of the first things that he would eat.
He's literally
Josh Janssen: [00:46:12] like, so TJ has been really busy in the last few days. And so he hasn't seen Bharti that much, but every time they faced him in calling, he say, I want to use a drone. I want to use a drawing drawing. Where's the drawing.
Tommy Jackett: [00:46:24] He's, he's obsessed with the drone. We're flying it
Ryan Shelton: [00:46:26] tomorrow. What's your drone etiquette.
Um, in public spaces,
Tommy Jackett: [00:46:30] real loose? No, I mean, I don't fly a great deal now the day I flew, but I just didn't know. You didn't, you don't know what you don't know. Yeah. So flying over crowds of people you
Ryan Shelton: [00:46:42] don't know. Yeah. But do you know what you were doing? Cause they, you need like a pilot's license to fly a drone or is that a hat like that?
Tommy Jackett: [00:46:51] It's called cowboy style, but is that true or is that not true? No. So when I first got it, there was, there was no that wasn't there. The like even the Kassar app to like, say that you want to fly on a certain area. Oh, we've
Josh Janssen: [00:47:03] got someone, someone out the front,
Tommy Jackett: [00:47:05] this looks like someone wants to park, Oh, this looks like someone maybe wants a part, could be a part
Ryan Shelton: [00:47:12] because he didn't know he's in a shirt and.
Pants. Who is this? Good. I hear you going, Hey, what's your name? David. David.
Josh Janssen: [00:47:26] David's going to have a good heart, David. David's here, guys. Okay. David's going to have George's crumble.
here we go. A GB. Is he going the microphone? I guess you do. Perfect.
Ryan Shelton: [00:47:40] Where's he from?
Tommy Jackett: [00:47:42] We'll find out,
Josh Janssen: [00:47:43] find out the questions, ask all the questions, JB.
Ryan Shelton: [00:47:48] Wow, this
Tommy Jackett: [00:47:50] is great.
Ryan Shelton: [00:47:52] Why not ready? David
Tommy Jackett: [00:47:56] is here to Pat for a cut ladies and
Ryan Shelton: [00:47:58] gentlemen.
Tommy Jackett: [00:48:02] Potter. Wait, put that broom
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:05] right. Oh, no
Josh Janssen: [00:48:09] Jules. What do you need here? It is. Here we go. Here we go. David is putting putt for a cup.
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:16] Mr. Rugby are great.
Tommy Jackett: [00:48:18] And here we go, guy. Come on, David.
He's got the first
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:33] multiples,
Josh Janssen: [00:48:35] John David. That's it. That's an amazing effort. Wow.
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:38] How did you,
Tommy Jackett: [00:48:39] how did you get here and where are you from? Where are you
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:41] from?
Josh Janssen: [00:48:42] We've been Craigieburn but I just came from the rugby. I work at the rugby. Amazing
Tommy Jackett: [00:48:46] storm. Killed the roosters tonight. How do you know about the show? How have you found us?
Oh, what was this? The Craig Harper once and I heard that you guys were on it
Ryan Shelton: [00:48:58] and, um, I've been following you ever since for the last. 12
Tommy Jackett: [00:49:01] months. Amazing.
Josh Janssen: [00:49:03] Thanks so much. Thanks so much.
Tommy Jackett: [00:49:11] The winner winner chicken dinner.
Ryan Shelton: [00:49:13] Cause he wasn't, he chips it seriously.
Tommy Jackett: [00:49:19] Give him a
Ryan Shelton: [00:49:19] transit Mac has chips. He does. He does. He all right.
This is great.
Josh Janssen: [00:49:43] Thanks so much, David,
Tommy Jackett: [00:49:46] for the door cam back open. Thanks, David. I doubt George is in the garage. I think he's in Ryan's car.
Ryan Shelton: [00:49:57] He said
Josh Janssen: [00:49:59] 15
Ryan Shelton: [00:50:00] minutes
Tommy Jackett: [00:50:00] for us. David Craig say
Ryan Shelton: [00:50:02] Dinah 15 minutes left until you till you're done four 40 crazy. You're ready. You're done. You're over it.
Tommy Jackett: [00:50:12] We had a few breaks, um, just to split up the stream so that it can stay through the stream so it can stay on YouTube.
We did the whole 24 hour live stream. We couldn't save it down to YouTube. And we didn't want to export the whole thing. So this is nice because we've done it in blocks in a few minutes in between, which is why I paused it. And it's saying it's 39 minutes, which is basically just after 11 or 11. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [00:50:37] And are you making notes as you go, as we, as the day goes George, or is it just, haven't been, sorry, this is going to be a massive edit for you.
No,
Tommy Jackett: [00:50:45] um, yes. Yes.
Ryan Shelton: [00:50:47] Wake up. We'll be able to smash it out. You know, what could be, I mean, I, I certainly don't want to be the one to come in here and criticize anything about this incredible world that you have that you've created, but JB is backdrop
Josh Janssen: [00:51:00] black.
Ryan Shelton: [00:51:01] It's an upgrade it. I mean, it'd be great to have just, I mean, just something, I don't know, just to even give a little bit of depth to that black moderate it's maybe even like an applied, it could be from the garage.
Tommy Jackett: [00:51:12] Well, we've got a downlight turn, the applied into a downlight. Okay.
Ryan Shelton: [00:51:16] The curtains or something like that. He's getting a little lost. Isn't he? Yeah, it's just, it was just a little thing that I don't make a big deal about it. Jay. Bay's really
Josh Janssen: [00:51:23] upset.
Tommy Jackett: [00:51:25] Be careful, John, take out a why that takes out everything.
Ryan Shelton: [00:51:31] how annoying would that
Tommy Jackett: [00:51:32] we, um, you know what you can do if you want to get one of the, we actually done it, fix it. That's what we've learned, Ryan. Thank you. This was actually a lesson. Uh, this was, that was a piece of dialogue to get us to talk about the lesson of the thousand episodes. Doesn't have to be perfect mate.
There's people who would have every light on their GB and they show it is shit. It's only
Ryan Shelton: [00:51:57] a point of comparison because the rest of it looks so good. Um, it's just like, yeah. You know what I mean? Like, it's kind of my character that I guess just sort of in the corner, but you you're fucking important character.
You want to fucking important background. Thank you. Yeah, some sort of little something green screen, the sheriff badge. Doesn't like the share great screens. Great. And then you, and then, then you can control,
Josh Janssen: [00:52:20] we did green screen once. He looked for his shit
Ryan Shelton: [00:52:25] over that, but that's kind of the challenge.
That's the joke. Yeah. That's the joke. That's a good idea. A little pull up.
Josh Janssen: [00:52:33] We got to with them
Tommy Jackett: [00:52:34] too, that we got, I had a bunch of money. This is the thing, like how many times, how much have we battled with internally about what we want to do versus what we can do right now? And that's why the studios had seen so many versions of the desk.
It's like, when you're a kid and you rearrange your Romy, like, Oh my God, I've got a fucking new room. Then she moved into a new apartment. Yeah. It's tiny. It's just a little room, but it feels different.
Josh Janssen: [00:52:57] I mean that 45 K number was just, was that a joke based on
Tommy Jackett: [00:53:01] me that you told
Ryan Shelton: [00:53:03] me that would
Josh Janssen: [00:53:04] say 45, do you know what I think actually, do you know what I think happened?
There was a, um, a YouTube comment that said, uh, look at these guys. They're trust fund babies. No, no, no, no. There was no, there was one word,
Tommy Jackett: [00:53:17] technically. I think you're getting your quotes. If you think about it, the equipment, everything we have, like I've got a spreadsheet it's close.
Josh Janssen: [00:53:25] It's kind of, I think it was someone said, I can't believe these guys have spent $45,000 on a studio with the amount of following they have,
Ryan Shelton: [00:53:35] which I think that's the best thing
Tommy Jackett: [00:53:41] cups. Yeah. Anyone who's willing to say that online is a fucking
Ryan Shelton: [00:53:44] loser too toxic. The value of this goes far beyond the value of the items themselves. Yeah. Yeah. I love what you guys have got here. I I'm sorry. I'm it's such an exciting space. Like for someone who like makes things myself, like they have just this up and just be able to walk on and turn it on.
It's pretty amazing. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:54:09] There was a few little bit more set up, but we did for episode 1000, but I think we'll like make a bunch of it permanent. So like it just the extra cameras
Ryan Shelton: [00:54:18] and things haven't you got like one, two
Josh Janssen: [00:54:21] or something. We've got some like random shots upstairs as well, which we haven't cut to at all, but, you know,
Ryan Shelton: [00:54:29] and were they set up today?
Are they always set up? Are those cables like running through the roof?
Josh Janssen: [00:54:36] So some of them are wireless and then others are using network cables. So they're using ethernet. Okay, cool.
Tommy Jackett: [00:54:42] But it's funny, like think about moving us, moving into this place. And it has some of the infrastructure, like the network, uh, all this stuff, like it's it was built for like an old office where there's, you know, in here there's all these power boards.
It's like the most random thing, but it's totally served what we're doing. Like sending, sending all the footage upstairs through the ethernet. It works well, it's crazy. It's do you find you connect dots on things that are happening in life? Like how things have played out, um, for the better like, like, you know, this person or we connected because we, then we're going to create this.
You can get a bit
Ryan Shelton: [00:55:22] definitely. Yeah. Especially for the good things. Yeah. Yeah. I love, I love that. Like when you figure out this, you mean the sliding doors kind of moments. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely love that. Yeah. I mean the, the biggest one for me was probably, um, when, when we were 22 ish and we'd done all we'd done.
When I say away, it's like Mae Jaime Shandy, Tim Bartley, who we write a karate, we'd done a show on channel 30, one cold radio karate who had six episodes. That's all we did sort of like just after or during uni, we did that. And after that finished I'd plan to go on like a backpacking kind of one way ticket trip to Europe, to London, and then just go around Europe and, and just do that trip, that kind of gap year ironically thing.
Um, and I was like, uh, everything was packed. I had a farewell party. Um,
Josh Janssen: [00:56:17] it took me a second to realize why it was ironic.
Ryan Shelton: [00:56:19] Oh yes. Well this works on gap year, then he's like, yeah. Anyway. Yeah, it wasn't my stuff. Um, thanks Josh. Um, so we, so then, so that was ticket tickets. Like plane ticket was bought. I was like gonna stay with friends in London when I got there, excuse me.
Um, and it was all already to go and I was due to leave online. Uh, it's I like the, the Monday or something and awake before that, uh, we got a call from a producer at channel seven asking and I, and there were a producer from, there was a show called big bite, which was like a sketch show on channel seven years ago.
Like during the, the second sketch boom of Australian TV, where there was skid house, big bite comedy, Inc. There's this like suddenly everyone had sketch shows. Why? Um, I think, I don't know. There's sort of like, I think TV shows just sort of go and trends. I think all of a sudden something gets popular
Josh Janssen: [00:57:20] funding thing though.
Like, is it just more cat? Like, was there more cash at that time?
Ryan Shelton: [00:57:24] Potentially? Yeah, it could have been, yeah, like script, like, you know, networks have a S there's a certain amount of, um, hours they have to produce of all different types of TV programs. So like scripted things. They have to produce a certain amount of hours of, um, But also at the time, there was also just this, I think people want to from like nostalgic to full-frontal fast-forward and stuff.
And this was like the second coming of, of that. Anyway, so that channel 70 did big bite and that had like Chris Lilly and Angelo cave and Kate McCartney. And there's this bunch of people who have gone to do different things. And, and now we're getting ready to do the second season of that for the second season.
A new group of producers took over and asked and gotten cut, sorry, our channel 31 show somehow got in contact with us and asked us if we'd want to come and audition for the second season of this new, big bite show, big picture. And I was, I wasn't meant to go. I know I was meant to go on the Thursday and the audition was for like the Monday after that.
And so going back into that, but this was before any of us had any like TV work in a, maybe Hamish was like, Maybe he was riding on like Tracy and Matt, like the Fox FM breakfast shot. Maybe he was there, but I'm not sure. Anyway,
Tommy Jackett: [00:58:49] if you think you, you were going to make it or, you know, no,
Ryan Shelton: [00:58:52] no, none at all. Not at all.
Like I thought I thought I wanted to, but I definitely was in the mode of thinking, well, who does, like, this is before streaming video on the internet. So this is the only, truly the only real way in was to get on a TV show on commercial television, which is just such a long shot. So certainly wasn't the thing.
It was a reality. So when they said, do you want to come and audition? I kind of then had to choose, do I go on this trip that I've been looking forward to and bought the ticket, said bye to everyone packed my bags or do I like canceled the ticket and go to this like random audition for this channel seven show that we probably won't even get.
And so I chose to do the audition. And then I didn't get like a job as a main cast, but I got jobs as like the well Hamish and he got jobs as main cast. And I got a job as like a supporting cast and a rider in like the writer's room. And so I often think about that as a massive choice that, I mean, who knows what would've happened, ended up same way, but I think not because I reckon if I went away, I reckon potentially if I missed that opportunity, I would have missed my chance to get on the, you know, maybe if I came right out months.
Yeah. Eight months later, the show would have been started and finished by then because it didn't last very long. And, and then I reckon there's a chance that I would've just missed that opportunity. And then would it come back and like Hames, Andy and Tim would be working on the channel seven show. And I was like, Oh, okay, well I'll, I'll do I'll work in advertising.
What did
Josh Janssen: [01:00:32] you do with your, um, ticket? Do you remember?
Ryan Shelton: [01:00:35] No, I think I just, I think I got, like, I think I had to pay like a $200 cancellation fee or whatever. Never went. Wow.
Josh Janssen: [01:00:43] Never been to Europe
Ryan Shelton: [01:00:45] have been to not by myself. Yeah. Yeah. No. I mean, I don't even really know why I was going. What do you like about London?
What's that? That's water. Thanks. Right.
Josh Janssen: [01:00:57] Another big cup. You can have that one, two, three now. Oh my goodness. Um, JB, have you got anything in the archive that you want to play as the archivist? You can say now if you don't, but only
Ryan Shelton: [01:01:08] I was going to talk about what lessons I wanted to hear more about that.
What have you learned? That
Tommy Jackett: [01:01:12] was great. I like to listen to yours.
Ryan Shelton: [01:01:15] Yeah. All lessons. You have it. Wasn't really more, a little memory. I liked
Tommy Jackett: [01:01:18] it like this.
Ryan Shelton: [01:01:19] Do you have that version
Tommy Jackett: [01:01:20] of that? I mean, if, if Josh and I stopped doing the podcast, when you went away, which was an opportunity, a possibility that we even mentioned on the show that we might not do it every day and yeah.
And, um, and one of our previous guests said, you know, that that was a chance that, that, or that sticking through, that was like how you build the early momentum in all the habit you build the habit. And so, yeah, I mean, it's all these little things, all these little things that can change everything.
Ryan Shelton: [01:01:55] Have you, can I have there been any or many days where either of you have gone, I really don't want to do this show.
Yeah, no, like seriously, definitely.
Josh Janssen: [01:02:09] I think like, um, probably times like over during COVID as well, where it sort of felt like, okay, well, um, uh, everything's pretty hard, but I think that, um, we said this in our video that we did with our mate, Matt, Dave Eller, it's like, what is the other option? Like what could we actually do.
Instead. So if I, if I wasn't doing a podcast with TJ, like, what else would I, what else would I do start another
Tommy Jackett: [01:02:39] podcast. Once you find something that it's, I feel like you
Ryan Shelton: [01:02:42] guys, you guys have done so many things and you're very. You're very self-motivated from what I can tell, I feel like you guys would just be doing something you guys just do.
Josh Janssen: [01:02:51] Yeah. I think the thing is that, uh, the point, the point I guess, is that we would be doing something else, but they would have the exact same prop problems, the same friction working with it within a team. Like all of those, the, the friction doesn't go away. And so part of it is like, if that's the only race and if the reason is that you're getting pissed off with like, um, uh, in a team environment or whatever it is like that is just going to literally transfer from thing to thing.
And so, yeah. Um, you know, like I think that that's part, like part of it is I think the longterm game of all of this stuff is it's almost like the stock market stuff, which is like riding the lows, like it all evens out. Everything's on an upwards trajectory, just not yet. All at once. Yeah. So it's like you zoom out and you are making progress, but it's not linear.
And so
Tommy Jackett: [01:03:46] what's, what's been the thing for you that has felt like progress or that has given you the sense of that moving forward or upwards?
Ryan Shelton: [01:03:57] Definitely starting. So when I started this, so this website I do, which is Ryan with 11 wise.com and started doing, giving myself this sort of monthly discipline, where I make something new every month and release it to whoever wants to say it.
Um, just for, for no other reason, just because I like making things. That was a huge turning point because I had to actively, I actively chose to stop developing the TV ideas that I was developing with like actual production companies, things that would, that could potentially turn into actual shows. It was like a, an active choice to, to stop doing that and put my attention to this little, little project that, um, was never going to earn me money, but was going to essentially give me the opportunity to just make things.
Hmm. That was, that has been a huge, huge turning point just in, in just my Mo invigorated me in, in what I do. And given me more of like, it's reminded me may of like, why, um, why I do this. And I don't get stuck in the trying to figure out the game of selling. I'm actually trying to figure out the, the game of making and it's just a huge difference.
And it's, it's it's uh, and it's just been a, it's been a massive game.
Tommy Jackett: [01:05:23] Were you stuck in an old pattern or like in that, or chasing an old goal? I'll Dre
Ryan Shelton: [01:05:30] doing that? I mean, it's like, you know, I spoke to you guys about this, on that, that, like, that live show where, you know, I F forever, since I was a kid, I, all I wanted was to have my own TV show.
That that was the thing that I sort of chose, but really that was just my childhood dream. You know, it's like, it's the equivalent of, like, I was still wanting to be a firefighter, you know what I mean? Like when kids want to be a firefighter when they're, um, or politics astronauts, and that happened. Yeah.
So I was still chasing this thing and, and I, and I guess I did maybe lose sight a little bit of, of what it was and why I was doing it. So, so yeah, it was, it was, that's been like, I think like now that website and all the things on there is probably the most, if someone was to say, what does your brain look like?
I could, then I could at least point towards that and go like, well, that that's, that's the most me thing that I've done. I think. Yeah. Not the thing that I'm like, Oh, that I'm not proud of all the other stuff that I've done that I've like, especially like the stuff that I've produced on or written on.
Like, I love all that stuff, but as far as me as a performer and a free item, like that's my that's that's.
Josh Janssen: [01:06:46] But the thing is like, it's not even, I think, like, I even forget. All the other steps that you had in doing something similar, like your Instagram series, um, cliff,
Ryan Shelton: [01:06:56] cliff, cliff sparing me.
Josh Janssen: [01:07:00] But the thing is like that, that was an early version of what ryan.com
Ryan Shelton: [01:07:06] was.
Yep. Yep. Pronunciation. Thank you. Yeah, no clue. Well, cliff was probably the first thing that I did that was just like a silly yet relatively well-produced thing that didn't have any chance or intention of becoming something bigger. Interesting.
Josh Janssen: [01:07:23] But also, um, on that, the, I remember you did some of the rounds where it was like you're on Nova or maybe even H and a doing some like media stuff.
Like there was still. A bit of the, um, television in lights. Yeah. Ryan Shelton that like, you're like, okay, I'm going to release it where it's like, it feels like you're very much more comfortable now with just being like, Oh, this is on for the internet. And I put it out to the world and it doesn't need to have any approval from old
Ryan Shelton: [01:07:54] media.
Yeah. And, and all those things, like nothing that I'm making on there. And, you know, I genuinely mean this. It's like nothing that I'm making there. Am I making, like, thinking that will, hopefully someone sees this and it can become the pilot for something more like a lot of the things that I'm making on there.
Like there, that is what it is. Like, it can't, there's no life outside of, of that necessarily. Um, but it was, but it's just nice to be able to like finish things and go like, well, that's that? And now I can move on to something else. Yeah. TJ, how
Josh Janssen: [01:08:24] long have we got?
Tommy Jackett: [01:08:26] We have 21 minutes. Do you guys
Ryan Shelton: [01:08:31] need to start talking about yourselves?
Josh Janssen: [01:08:33] We've done that for 999.
Tommy Jackett: [01:08:37] You can ask some questions if you like, do you want to interview us flipping?
Ryan Shelton: [01:08:42] That's getting wacky. Here's a question for each of you. So what would, what would that maybe this is,
Josh Janssen: [01:08:50] it can be dirty too hard. Yeah.
Ryan Shelton: [01:08:53] But yeah, I'm happy for it to be. What would, what would show 1000 Josh cider show one.
Josh? Uh,
Josh Janssen: [01:09:00] yeah. Good question. Right? What would 1000 so that,
Ryan Shelton: [01:09:03] um, uh, okay,
Josh Janssen: [01:09:09] thanks. Thanks man. Um, I think it's like, uh,
Ryan Shelton: [01:09:13] the,
Josh Janssen: [01:09:16] maybe, uh, something around,
something around ignoring. The N the ignoring the bad signs or, or ignoring the, the negative talk from, from, from the process. Like, I think for, for me, like it's like from yourself. Yeah. Yeah. I think like, just the, uh, on, maybe I could be doing something better or like, Oh, we should be pushing this more or things like that.
I think that probably the only reason that we got to episode 1000 is because we redefined what sucks look like. So I think that the V like what I thought. From episode one, was that a thousand episodes? You, some sort of, you get to some sort of level of perfect or from 700 to a thousand, like it, like, it's this sort of these growth where you get to this perfect product where I think it's realizing that from like, you have a hundred episodes where you're not feeling as good as you did on the 300 to 400.
So I think it's just like, don't be driven by the negative thoughts around the product.
Ryan Shelton: [01:10:34] That's great. Does that make sense? I'd be driven by so focus on the positives.
Josh Janssen: [01:10:40] I think, um, focus on it's like focusing on the process, which I think is what we ended up doing really well, which is like focusing on.
Which I think like internally I can criticize myself on, which is like, we don't have enough structure. We could do this, we could do that. Like all of these things, but that's like the only reason that we're doing the, like, if we had a fucking run sheet and all that. So I think it probably would have imploded, like the reason this format has been designed so that we can like it at the moment, we can run a business and have clients and do all that sort of thing and still serve the community.
Whereas if I tried to make it the perfect version, I don't think it would have survived. So yeah. So
Ryan Shelton: [01:11:21] if you, if you had a run shit and you're like writing segments or, and it was like a proper, you needed like the prep every day. And so you're spending all this time prepping a show. Yeah, I got ya. We wouldn't be able to do it.
Yeah. Oh, that's interesting, Tommy. Hmm.
Tommy Jackett: [01:11:35] Good question. Um, I was just listening to that and I wasn't thinking about mine, big mistake, a few things. It won't be what you think it will be. But what I've learned is that that is all just thinking about what the future will hold versus needing to actually experience every day and navigating that.
And actually, um, learning along the way, like the difference in my thinking, it feels so different. Like what's different. Oh, I feel like I'm just so much more aware of my, my thinking. Um, and like on a day-to-day on a day to day, just in a present moment, which feeds into communication with people and, um, everything that I do, but yeah.
What else? It's um, it, it, it can sometimes feel like I'm trying to sort of do points that Josh didn't mention. So it's like he can feel. So, what would I say to my it's a one episode, one, even when there's people around, it can feel like there's no one around meaning people listening, not actual friends, but it's like community and doing something like this is like, we're getting sent lots of stuff.
It's all just like things that are token, but it's a reminder. And even saying this stuff, JB does. You forget all of that, but that's like, as much as I reckon I've been more present in my life than I've ever been, that's still such a small, I have such a small capability for remembering all the shit we've done and the amazing moments, because they're just gone and next minute, it's fucking three years later and everything's different, but it feels like nothing's different.
Josh Janssen: [01:13:30] It was like, um, when not always like moving forward to the point where it's like, even, I think that we are very good at looking back at things with Rose colored glasses. And so coming into episode 1000, I think the feeling that we had was like, ah, it's not going to be like the 24 hour stream or like, is anyone going to listen or is it like, but then we look at it, it's like, it's been.
The most successful thing. Like, I guess it's, I even catch myself saying that it's like redefining success. It's like we only just show up or whatever. And what happens
Ryan Shelton: [01:14:05] of like, you know, you're saying, we look at everything with Rose colored glasses, like it's actually probably a good thing to do it,
Josh Janssen: [01:14:13] but the problem is that it's only, it's only good.
If you can give yourself that in the moment, if you have Rose colored glasses for the first time behind you, um, and even if you have it in front of you, but if you can't work on the present, Oh yeah. Then you're sort of in this conundrum where it's like, you're not where you need to be because, and the past
Tommy Jackett: [01:14:39] was always, will always be better than it was.
And the future will be brighter and better looking than the current time. And that's, that's the thing. So it's like all the things you learn, all the things you've done, you forget. The mind, like your mind just has such a little capacity for remembering all the good and all your, all you think about is pain.
Like it's cause it's all consuming. Yeah. Well, the
Josh Janssen: [01:15:04] negativity is louder as what looks to me is louder, but also like, I think it's things like having David come and do it, do the part, which is really cool.
cause he had mentioned. Yeah. And Craigieburn
yeah, no, that that's stuff like see is seeing David. I think that that's like really cool. Cause it's like, Oh, this is like, You know, out in the world and someone
Ryan Shelton: [01:15:29] that's not a friend or a connection to a family. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [01:15:32] Just like someone living their life. That's coming, coming home. That's putting for fucking daily talk.
So, Oh yeah. I'd love to
Ryan Shelton: [01:15:41] know how drunk he was. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [01:15:43] He definitely
Ryan Shelton: [01:15:45] him because he got a hole in one. That's like John Daley.
Josh Janssen: [01:15:52] Yeah. I am the John Daly of Melbourne so that the vibe with it with
Ryan Shelton: [01:15:56] pants and stuff, John Daley, not that I'm not a golf person, but as you are now due to Sean Daley. Oh, titles really well, it's easy to get the real deal.
Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [01:16:09] Wait, when I messaged a rye about, uh, the shower, I sort of is very keen on the episode 1000 stuff. And I tried to sort of merge it in with golf chat.
Ryan Shelton: [01:16:20] I don't really play
Josh Janssen: [01:16:21] golf, but then I tried it. So Ryan was very clear to me and said, look, I don't play golf. Hmm, but then I felt the need to say like, but do you have fun when you play?
Like I tried to kept the keep golf conversation going.
Ryan Shelton: [01:16:36] Can I, can I ask? I just noticed cause you switch vision switch. Yeah. Just, just for the
Josh Janssen: [01:16:42] light. Like we actually, that's one thing we stopped a bunch, but yeah, for the every show, not all
Tommy Jackett: [01:16:48] the time, it's not like this
Josh Janssen: [01:16:49] normally.
Ryan Shelton: [01:16:50] Yeah. It's not always like this normally.
Like
Josh Janssen: [01:16:53] we don't even have this office. We just rented this.
Ryan Shelton: [01:16:56] Yeah, this is no. What I was going to ask is when your vision switching, because I can say the, the program monitor there. Do you, are you no, no, no, no, no, no. I think this is what I would do. If I was switching is trying to preempt staff. Maybe I would like time my talk.
I would be at it. Mike the correct edits for when you cut to me, like, cause you you'll be able to like, hold off what you're gonna say and then cut to you in the moment. And editor knows what I mean, do you know what I mean? It's like, it's just like, it's like, you know what? Edit you have full control. It's a bit like that.
Tommy Jackett: [01:17:32] Yeah. Cool.
Josh Janssen: [01:17:35] Any, any OBS that like anything that I could improve in regards to the switching?
Ryan Shelton: [01:17:38] No, but like I love this control panel. Is it? Isn't it it's fucking awesome.
Josh Janssen: [01:17:43] Some echo before we go, do you want us to do something with some readers
Tommy Jackett: [01:17:46] thinking we can do a count down 12 and a half minutes to go.
keep an eye on
Josh Janssen: [01:17:56] it. Uh, with what you're wearing. I don't know if you come too comfortable with this. Would you take it off
Ryan Shelton: [01:18:04] the fucking app?
Josh Janssen: [01:18:06] No. So when I was a kid, I loved Russell Kuwait. A whole lot of the adventures. Yeah. If I, if I play Del Monte or Montay, which is one of our favorite songs, which we've been playing a bit, uh, today, would you do sort of an old school sort of Russel quite line dance line dance
Ryan Shelton: [01:18:23] just near the, uh, when we're doing the road trip?
Um, when we're doing the road trip, there was a, I saw S like a big land cruiser kind of outdoor like Outback car, and the number plate was just quite
Josh Janssen: [01:18:36] that's great. Okay. Here we go. So, uh, just go, I'm going to give you, um, this shot. Uh, so just go back a little bit,
Tommy Jackett: [01:18:46] Josh, between, um, wide on the
Josh Janssen: [01:18:50] IAM. Alrighty.
Ah, yeah, this is really, this is really good. Alrighty. And, um, we're going to play our Montay. Give me a second. I'm just gonna turn up the,
Ryan Shelton: [01:19:03] you know,
Josh Janssen: [01:19:07] Okay. Alrighty. And uh, now introducing Ryan Shelton with a traditional Russell quite line dance.
Tommy Jackett: [01:19:42] There it is.
Ryan Shelton: [01:19:55] The whole song
Tommy Jackett: [01:20:00] line dance is overdue is safe.
Yeah.
Nine minutes
Ryan Shelton: [01:20:41] they shut myself, Jay Bay. You would've loved that. I love big line dance, you know, actually when I, I said line dancing fan. Yeah. Yeah. Once I, when I saw that quite car, when I was on the bloody road trip. Right. Um, so the car, I was like, I'm going to say I haven't messaged Glenn Robbins in so long, but I was like, well, this is if there's ever an opportunity to message Glen.
So I messaged him if I didn't even know. Cause he's number still. Um, Messaged him say like a feedback. Oh, sorry, hang on.
Josh Janssen: [01:21:17] Sorry.
Ryan Shelton: [01:21:18] Standby. It's putting me off. There you go.
Wait, where am I? I can't say George so, and I send it to send it to Glenn and I was like, he's going to fucking love this. And, and then reply, the next morning was still his number. He replied, but I was expecting like, Oh, like firstly, amazing. How cool is that? And thank you, Ryan so much for messaging me, but it was, it was like, ah, yep.
Still me. Very good. Love it. Like come on
Josh Janssen: [01:21:58] back and say, would you attend my wedding?
Ryan Shelton: [01:22:01] Yeah, I was probably back never again,
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:05] Glen, the lift home, uh, w when he had a broken leg
Ryan Shelton: [01:22:13] what was the, what was the context?
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:14] Cause he's very close with my best friend, Reese, Mitchell and their family. And I was just around there once that was when I had my, a fancy BAME Dhabi and he had a broken leg and he's like, Oh, there you go home. I was like, no lift. He's like, yeah. And then I gave him a Lyft.
Ryan Shelton: [01:22:31] What'd you talk about?
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:33] I can't remember. I blacked out
Ryan Shelton: [01:22:36] just saying, were you nervous driving?
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:40] I've met him at racist place. Yeah. It's lovely guy. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [01:22:42] He's awesome. Tommy, his car had, um, a DVD, didn't it?
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:46] Uh, not David Day. Um, yeah, it had a TV pie. Was this the radio days? Nah, I strip and
Ryan Shelton: [01:22:51] dies. Oh fuck. The golden days.
I'm going to do that for,
Tommy Jackett: [01:22:56] uh, how long? Yeah. Year and a bit too. Amazing. You did that weed moment in my mind.
Josh Janssen: [01:23:04] You say, how much would you say the repayments were on that car?
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:07] 600 a month
Ryan Shelton: [01:23:10] worth it,
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:12] actually, it was for a bit.
Josh Janssen: [01:23:14] What do you think you're making as
Ryan Shelton: [01:23:15] a stripper? Six handy.
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:20] Just covering the class. Say you make your repayments all good,
Ryan Shelton: [01:23:23] but how much were you making stripping?
Oh, I didn't know. What's in your bank account right now. Not as much as yours. Okay. So
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:30] tenders 800 a thousand bucks you could make in a night. It's not, it's not like the girls that men's gallery. Yeah. Okay. Thank you,
Ryan Shelton: [01:23:38] Michael. Where, where were you standing? Where were you doing it? Homes are
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:43] like, yeah. Add on, add on coal.
And I'm calling
Ryan Shelton: [01:23:48] doctor, have you gone, have you on this show, have you gone through any of the stories of that time?
Tommy Jackett: [01:23:53] Probably a punch play. The montage? No. I mean, the main thing was doing the tour of New Zealand, which it was like a stage show, like manpower. How many of you, there was four in the actual stripping, uh, team.
You guys kept in touch. Nah, I wouldn't go. I was from Sweden and Sydney, any, any, I think he got deported, but he was a lovely guy and I went up and hung out with him in Sydney. Yeah. One of the other guys I was on Facebook. That was just an eclectic group of cats. Yeah. But it was really interesting moment in my life where it was like buying tickets for that.
There was like 400 women at one, a couple of the
Ryan Shelton: [01:24:36] shows and you're on a stage or a
Tommy Jackett: [01:24:39] shitty like motel vibe, like, um, pub in dancing. And it was a stage show. And so I'd go for like an hour and a half. Wow. I was sweating, you know, like it was dead photos and videos from those days. I'll text them to you. But it was weird.
I had moments like onstage. Just what am I doing? Like, yeah, I bet it's sort of
Ryan Shelton: [01:25:08] BMW. It had a red .
Tommy Jackett: [01:25:12] I actually lent that to Jacko. When I was over in New Zealand. Have the jacket. Do you want the case of my baby? Hi
Ryan Shelton: [01:25:20] baby, bro.
Tommy Jackett: [01:25:21] Anyway, um, go onto those days and gone is the rig
Ryan Shelton: [01:25:25] that I once had that, but that was a special rig.
That wasn't it. It was good for car. No, I know when Tommy says the rig. I know he's talking about. Yeah. Oh wow. How long?
Tommy Jackett: [01:25:43] Four and a half. Half minutes. So I wanted to just start thanking some grants. There's a bunch of people on the live stream, right on YouTube Alivia. Yes, Trevor, uh, Whitey. Who else we got? Who else? We got? Em, B George's mom, give George's mother. Shout out. I
Ryan Shelton: [01:26:02] am B Kazam stand for mama bear. Mama. Boy,
Tommy Jackett: [01:26:09] Dane, uh, got a message from Rob ward.
Congrats on 1000 massive effort. Thanks for the content. I'm listening to you guys now thinking that we only really have right now, not the past, not the future. Only now world on boys pro joy. That's Robbie ward. Harry's on here. Glenn BK. All the
Josh Janssen: [01:26:28] grownups have come out, obviously a massive thank you to our partners to braise us.
Tommy Jackett: [01:26:34] Oh, sorry.
Josh Janssen: [01:26:37] Amos. Who is at home in ham. As well. Yeah, the support of theirs is very much appreciated. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [01:26:43] Everybody who's helped at Jess. Who's not here Mr. 97, who was in that video. There's so many great people that have been a part of this journey. And it's awesome that video, that, that we played, you ride the people in it have become friends that, you know, they've been acquaintances now they're, you know, a part of the wacky world we're doing.
It's
Ryan Shelton: [01:27:05] great. It's, uh, it's an amazing thing. And I've said this to you guys. I've said it to Josh number of times, but it is such an, uh, like, well, who am I to say? But it's, it's in my, in my eyes such an impressive, uh, brilliant, inspiring thing that you guys started, but then continue to do. And I think not only is it in, in my mind, like inspiring that you started it and decided to do it, but the fact that you've kept with it.
I think is the thing that really can show people that, that it's like that you can just keep doing it and like no doubt. And I, you know, having watched listened to that amazing episode that you guys did recently, what was that one where you talked about the
Josh Janssen: [01:27:55] past big changes, like talking about big changes
Ryan Shelton: [01:27:57] like that w that w I just love that episode.
So whatever number that was, I don't remember that you remember Jamie bring it up. Cause I th I really think people should listen to that. If you had a list it's just such a beautiful, honest, vulnerable thing, and really a really lovely thing to do for people. And, but just the fact that you you're still doing it.
And then you've got like Georgie boy, and you got Jess and just, and miss a 97 and the whole crew it's, um, it's very inspiring. I think, to show people that you don't need, um, you don't need to be. Given permission or selected, you don't need to be chosen by a network radio network, TV network to do this.
Like, yes, the way you've done it, like it's $45,000. But, um, but like the way you started was not that. And I, and it's just a very, very cool thing. Um, and I know you guys know that, but it's, but it, but I just, I wanted to say it cause it's, it's, you know, I guess I've done TV stuff and I've done radio things and whatever, but this is extremely like, to me, this is the dream like this is.
And if you can, if you can sustain this, this is the magic. I think. In my mind. Thanks, Ryan.
Josh Janssen: [01:29:20] Um, uh, also big, thank you to everyone. That's been on the show today. Uh, Pete shepherd also, we had happy Harry skirted, Derek, uh, pate shepherd, Jim Watts, Jules Lund, Stacey, June crystal Andrews, Ben Fordham, Trev long Jack post, Matt, Dave, Ella Craig Harper.
And of course Ron
Ryan Shelton: [01:29:41] Shelton,
Tommy Jackett: [01:29:42] shelt dog. The first responders, the Uber drivers that have delivered the food today,
Ryan Shelton: [01:29:51] first on the call.
Josh Janssen: [01:29:52] Yeah. And also, yeah, everyone that's come out for a pop, whether it's a David wombat, um, who else have we had? We've had a, a
Tommy Jackett: [01:29:59] bunch, a bunch, a bunch, and they should be Taj at some point ten
Josh Janssen: [01:30:04] nine,
Ryan Shelton: [01:30:05] eight seven six five four three two one. .
