Josh Janssen: [00:00:00] Yeah, it's the daily talk. So episode 893. It's
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:08] waking band at what's happening guys. What's going on? Yes, Lucas. I whip and grace are in the building.
Josh Janssen: [00:00:18] You can be, what do you want? What's your nickname? What could your nickname be? I tell ya.
Jess Lucas: [00:00:25] I'd like GP,
Josh Janssen: [00:00:26] GP too. Close to GB.
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:29] Yeah. Yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:00:32] What's your middle name?
Grace.
Grace Peris: [00:00:34] Margaret
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:36] Monica ranks. Hagen
Maga rate.
Grace Peris: [00:00:41] Margaret mum's name?
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:43] Yeah, I like it. And so where
Grace Peris: [00:00:46] it's French for Margaret.
Jess Lucas: [00:00:48] Yeah,
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:49] French for Margaret
Josh Janssen: [00:00:50] look. Well, great. As it's a bit of fringe,
I've
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:58] had French, I've had French for today and I'm feeling real French right now. I feel, I feel like I'm in Paris. What is our ye mean? By the way?
Josh Janssen: [00:01:11] I don't know what the actual
Jess Lucas: [00:01:14] do you know what the difference between IAA and AEG is?
Josh Janssen: [00:01:17] I assumed his example. And
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:22] it's spelled with E G example example,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:27] and then there's et cetera as well.
But everyone's on edge because we nearly had a blow up. There's a lot of technical issues today. JB had some issues with his microphone. Jess accidentally jumped in halfway through a show that we're doing. And so, but we're all good now, but Jess, have you ever had any blowups at work? Have you ever absolutely cracked at someone?
Jess Lucas: [00:01:53] Um, no. Cause I would never yell at someone, but I've definitely cracked it at someone
Josh Janssen: [00:01:58] I didn't yell, but definitely didn't yell. She didn't say I was quite calm. And so yeah. What, what did you,
Jess Lucas: [00:02:05] I'm not going to lie
Josh Janssen: [00:02:07] just then. Well just then you were just on edge. Oh, this is, this communication is, this is fucking hard.
This is hard work. This is, if anything, now the opposite of banter is, is what this is like. Yeah,
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:22] there is. Yeah,
Josh Janssen: [00:02:24] there is. I knew Grace's mom's name is Marguerite. And so as soon as I'm like, what the fuck it like a French hour. I thought, okay, what smart ass come in. So we can get from grace as mud. This is a great way of building rapport.
So. We're all good. Oh,
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:39] wow. I'm fine guys. I have no idea about really what's going on. There is a sensitivity though, JJ, around techie shoes and, and you, and so if there's, if there's ever a blow up, you can sniff out a techie show within the first, you know, you can smell the salt soldiering, iron burning.
Josh Janssen: [00:03:00] I just, I just feel hot.
And so Jess, what was it? Was there a specific moment? Was it like, can you describe when you've, you've gotten close to a blowup?
Jess Lucas: [00:03:12] I can't even remember what she did. She was just, um, painful sometimes I think, no, I don't think it was probably just like a combination of multiple things. I can tell you a time that I got yelled at.
Josh Janssen: [00:03:23] Oh yeah. That'd be great.
Jess Lucas: [00:03:25] When I was in events, I, um, I was doing an events for a hotel. Chain. And we went through a wedding expo and there was a bowl and everyone could kind of just drop their business cards in and whatever. It was like a note that had their name number, that kind of thing. So couples obviously
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:43] putting it that way by doing that way inclined.
Jess Lucas: [00:03:47] Yeah. We'll take that offline. Yeah. Um, but. I had this Excel spreadsheet of all these people that were hopefully going to win a two night, stay at our hotel, uh, for their, uh, winning, whether it was their honeymoon or whatever. And, um, I just started like forwarding it email saying, thanks for coming. Thanks for dropping your name in you.
Haven't won. And then I got to the person that. Had been selected as the winner who was about halfway through, said, congratulations, you've won a two night stay. This is super exciting. Let us know what dates you want to book in. Um, but then I kept forwarding that email.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:24] No, this is worse for hospitality than COVID. How many, how many free nights did you give it?
Jess Lucas: [00:04:33] I think in the end it was like 12, but the thing is I've noticed halfway through. I know. Um, and I had emailed all of them back and say, yeah, sorry. That was mistake.
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:50] That was Matt Tilley. Got my bloody emails. He got ya.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:54] It's so prank called, they
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:57] called it and need explanation explaining really and people's heads. Um, but Jess, do you actually have to give out like a lot of businesses end up actually valuing wa uh, giving out the, whatever they've fucked up.
Jess Lucas: [00:05:13] Well, no, cause we were, it was the one I was telling you about JJ the other day around the corner and had PTSD walking past it.
Oh my gosh.
Josh Janssen: [00:05:23] Grace, have you ever, um, either yelled at someone or being yelled at whilst working?
Grace Peris: [00:05:29] No, I've never been yelled at someone. Um, And I've never yelled at anyone. If I've had to ever talk to someone it's always been quite nice, like, Oh, so, you know, just maybe do this a bit differently.
Josh Janssen: [00:05:43] Is anything like that?
So you worked at, you worked at a gym, what's sort of the, any nightmares.
Grace Peris: [00:05:49] Um, if people got charged twice, sometimes it would be an issue I've been, yeah, I've been yelled at, by like customers, not by a boss. Um, the F one of the first times I was working. I didn't really know the backstory, but someone called up and I just so happened to pick up the phone.
And obviously they'd been having a hard time with something and they decided yelling at me. And then I was just the front
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:12] door. It's
Grace Peris: [00:06:13] like, I'm so sorry that I got to the fight and I was just bawling my eyes out. So
Josh Janssen: [00:06:19] what did they put, like if you hear someone cry on the other end of the phone?
Grace Peris: [00:06:23] Trying to keep, you know, keep it in and just had like tears coming down my face.
And my boss was like, looking at me, quiet, like what's going on? Like, has someone died? Or like, you know, and then I got to the photos, like someone yelled at me.
I think you just get used to it. Oh yeah, you Wakely. And it was just a part of the job.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:44] Yeah, that's the, that's the game as
Grace Peris: [00:06:47] it is.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:48] I want, sorry, I'm the guy who was in, in, in charge of the personal trainers, kick, kick a guy up the ass as he walked out the gym.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:58] That's not ideal.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:59] There was a bodybuilding gym, a lot of testosterone, a lot of, um, you know, uh, Injectable testosterone that probably got us to that point, but range.
Yeah, a bit of roid rage, but it was interesting. I mean, it takes a certain type to yell at someone else in a staff setting. It's probably less happens less these days. Like people are on edge.
Grace Peris: [00:07:24] Yeah. True. I have my bosses kicked people out of the gym and it's been quite like a yelling match in the front.
Yeah. Foyer. And that was quite stressful as well. Cause you kinda just have to pretend that it's not happening. Well, they kind of yelling at each other and yeah, it's, it's, who's got more testosterone
Tommy Jackett: [00:07:40] really.
Josh Janssen: [00:07:41] So, so Melbourne cup weekend is coming up pretty soon. We get the Tuesday off. Does Perth have like a user for one Melbourne cup on the radar for Perth?
And if not, what is the perfect Perth? The perfect equivalent. The Perth equivalent. Of Melbourne cup.
Grace Peris: [00:08:00] Um, yeah, it's usually on the radar, but I feel like recently with the kind of saying nup to the cup has,
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:08] is it hang on, is that a slogan saying nut to the cup?
Grace Peris: [00:08:11] Yeah, boycott the Melbourne cup saying like, say NEP to the cup.
Um, so
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:17] a lot of.
Josh Janssen: [00:08:19] No, no sign up like saying
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:21] no, say no,
Jess Lucas: [00:08:22] say no, no,
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:25] I
Josh Janssen: [00:08:25] get to ride the horses. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:27] Yeah. Nothing, absolutely nothing to do with it, those bad guys.
Grace Peris: [00:08:37] Um, so yeah, it's, it's on people's radars. Like, I feel like. If
Josh Janssen: [00:08:41] like,
Grace Peris: [00:08:42] I mean, cause it's just everywhere, like all over the news and stuff. Um, and so usually at like Ascot, which is like our race course, they have races. And then I also, they add the Melbourne cup there. Um, but you'd be, don't have like a public holiday or anything for it.
Um, but yeah, it's not really a big thing. Like I remember when I was little, um, like that was the one day that mum would be like, Oh, so like we'll put. You know, like $2 on horse number three, which was like, obviously, cause I was born on the third, um, you know, like lucky numbers kind of thing, but that was it.
It wasn't really like a big deal. I've never really been that into it. Never gone to the races,
Josh Janssen: [00:09:20] a big thing. Like, um, I feel as a, uh, growing up. Yeah, you'd get all like everyone would put a couple of bucks on or you have, what is it that the sweepstakes I feel like I could imagine Jess, your family getting into it in a big way.
Really is that? Yeah, I just imagine like the, um, you know, a summer, was it summer in November? Summer's day in like a hot day in Bendigo with that sort of, you know, music going and the and a white board, and people are getting pissed off about what horse they got. Is that, is that a fair assumption? Not the case.
Jess Lucas: [00:09:57] No, unfortunately we cause Bendigo has its own cup, so they don't recognize Melvin cup. They reckon that it's
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:02] Bendigo
Grace Peris: [00:10:05] wasn't that the cup before the Melbourne cup.
Jess Lucas: [00:10:10] There's multiple Ballarat and then everyone has their own cops, horse racing events, I suppose. But no, I mean, dad's work always does a sweep and I always, I still get one every year.
They'll just pull it out of a hat and assign it to me. Um, have a one haven't had it. Hasn't come through, you know,
Josh Janssen: [00:10:27] I mean, footy tipping, a big media company. Maybe we need to do footy tipping in 2021. I've never actually tipped him. Like I've
Jess Lucas: [00:10:35] never done.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:36] Yeah, yes,
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:39] Richard, we went, we went watch one.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:41] Yeah, no, I know lots kicking in danger.
Grace Peris: [00:10:44] Josh watch a game.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:46] Yeah. Yeah. When grace first moved to Melbourne, uh, before lockdowns, that's crazy to think that that was the case, but yeah, we, um, uh, uh, serves in grace, came over and we ended up, we actually got Kao just so we could watch. The game,
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:04] but it was good at footy.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:05] I enjoyed it. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:07] Well hopefully next year it will be a bit more normal.
Like it's not, it's not going to just stop. You know, four games in and then, but there's always, there's always the person that doesn't watch footy that ends up sort of getting pretty far down the line. Amy's that person at her work she's coming like third and Oh, wow. I'll give a shit. She grew up with rugby, you know, up in Sydney.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:28] Yeah. So, Jess, what do you think, do you think we should get him involved with some sort of footy tipping in the, in the team?
Jess Lucas: [00:11:35] I think it'd be fun. A bit of a colleague rivalry would be maybe. Yeah. I mean, we should be strategic about it though. I could imagine you would be that person that told me she has mentioned you like Fremantle, Jalong.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:49] I think I would probably, um, I would definitely look into it a little bit. The, uh, what's the deal with fantasy odds. Yeah, definitely the fantasy fantasy football. What's the deal. I could actually imagine you guys getting into fantasy football.
Grace Peris: [00:12:07] Uh, my ex boyfriend was quite into fantasy that just like, sit around, talking about it all weekend.
Oh really?
Josh Janssen: [00:12:18] Just fantasy football.
Grace Peris: [00:12:19] Oh really? Yeah. It's just, this is a lot involved and it's always like who got the most points and I'll be to try it, this person. And I don't know if you have the time for that. It seems like it's a lot to involved in. In actually having a good team and doing well. I mean, if you just doing it for a bit of fun and ha ha whatever.
Josh Janssen: [00:12:37] And so the idea is that you get all different players from different teams.
Grace Peris: [00:12:43] Yeah. And then you create your own team. And, um, every week when there's the games on, you'll say in the stats is like, um, I think it's a day to IFL dream team or something like that at the end. And they're all the points. And then you get the points.
If, how many, so if your play gets a hundred points that goes to a total score. So it's heavy, it's like the top things like that. And then you can be like, yeah. So like Tommy's team could play your team and then things like that.
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:09] And it's actually taking data from the real people that are playing over the weekend.
So it is cool. It is the link through to the real say if you're watching the game, but you're also running. This dream team on the side. It makes sense. Okay. Now we interested in doing it personally, but I see how, you know, You
Grace Peris: [00:13:27] can get really involved in it. Yeah. And then there's all like the dream team draft and things like that.
And it's, yeah, it's just a whole lot,
Josh Janssen: [00:13:35] so maybe we can get into it from a baseball perspective. That could be a way of us learning about it. But what's stopping you from just picking the Michael Jordan equivalent of every, like just having a drain team or is that, is that the point.
Grace Peris: [00:13:48] I think there's the draft.
So the draft is like, obviously like the normal in the real world, you get like teams pick players or, um, uh, what, uh, what do they call them? Like the pate coming up from the state leagues or the girls coming up from the state leagues. Um, and so, yeah, you can only have certain places or something like that.
Like there's not like four lucky Niels or whatever, or for Nat fives or whatever.
Jess Lucas: [00:14:11] I'm pretty sure.
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:12] Kevin Kevlar, a Western Australian footy player, you know, references. They're nice.
Grace Peris: [00:14:19] Well, lucky you just one, the, um, the brand lies. That's why I kind of brought him up.
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:24] So
Josh Janssen: [00:14:25] grandma, I don't even like
Grace Peris: [00:14:26] it on Sunday nights, Sunday and
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:29] yeah.
Gosh, don't worry. I hadn't even heard of Locky Neal and he won the
breeze
Grace Peris: [00:14:36] Brisbane now, but he used to play for the Dockers. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:40] And so, I mean, this is where you, you miss, you miss it for a year and you're completely out of the loop. If you, if you've stopped following a team for a couple of years, the whole team's different to when you used to, when you used to watch it,
Josh Janssen: [00:14:53] which is, it is exciting.
I mean, I could get into it now and potentially get to a, quite a good level. Quickly. I mean, you
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:01] gotta be into it though. How do you actually get into something?
Josh Janssen: [00:15:06] This is the problem. Like with the baseball stuff, I feel like I'm. Grace. You're a lot better at like knowing the players and you'll be like, Oh, did you say Tucker?
Like what Tucker Tucker's throw or whatever? I was like, to be honest. No, no, but yeah. Yeah. I mean,
Grace Peris: [00:15:24] at the moment I'm not really doing anything, so I'm just watching Facebook and knowing their names.
Josh Janssen: [00:15:31] But I think that's good. Like even me spending time on the weekend, like trying to. I don't take it in as well.
Like I there's even points where I'm embarrassed because I get excited about apply. And then I realized that it's not the, the astros', it's not the team I'm going for because they fucking, they're always changing and it's just very easy. And also they've got their way in home colors. Kids. And so you get a bit confused because sometimes astros' will wear like a bright sort of orange, like a deep orange, and then other times they wear gray and then other times the other teams wearing the color, it's a lot to take on.
It is a lot.
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:11] Jess, what are you into anything like that? Like I reckon I'm quite into UFC. I have a pretty broad knowledge of us.
Josh Janssen: [00:16:18] What's your favorite six UFC fighters.
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:21] John Jones, number one, kind of a Gregor. Of course, I like Nate Diaz. He's a, he's a real brawler. Um, who else we got? Um, I mean, they're probably top three.
Do you just want me to name off?
Josh Janssen: [00:16:38] I wanted to just know that you're like, you
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:40] know, Jose Aldo is not my favorite, but if you just know Nate Diaz, as well as Nick Diaz.
Josh Janssen: [00:16:48] And then one
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:48] more, if you just want one more Francis and Ghana. Okay. If you just try and see if I know six pages. Yes.
Josh Janssen: [00:16:56] Yeah. But like, cause I don't know if you care that much.
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:00] I do. I reckon I care more about UFC than you do about baseball
Josh Janssen: [00:17:04] so much.
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:05] Yeah, but I reckon I'm well ahead. Like, I'm always surprised when I'm taught. When I actually watched this stuff, I might fuck. I, I spend hours watching, like UFC highlight videos, the stories that make
Josh Janssen: [00:17:20] your hobby, your passion,
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:21] because I did martial arts.
When I was younger, I spent quite a bit of time doing kickboxing, Muay Thai. And so when you were seeing. Yeah, it's definitely like, I've just got this sort of like thing that I'm like, if you play footy, when you're younger, it may be like club footy, pretty hard. You just always got the connection to the sport.
And so martial arts is like, yeah, I'm always watching and I'm always pumped to see it when it's on. The only thing where I fall flat is I don't pay for it. And so I would go to a pub, which I haven't liked the last fight I went to. Um, was at the local pub and they've been closed ever since it was like,
Josh Janssen: [00:18:02] do you have any, I haven't seen you in a
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:03] UFC.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:04] You wear it?
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:05] Nah, I don't think so. No. Why not? Oh, the way the Reebok is, is quite synonymous with UFC. They're one of the main sponsors I'd wear something of Reebok. The short. So, you know, if you're looking at a pair of USC or if you're looking at some Reebok shorts, it reminds me of the USC. I dunno. It's like the it's like tap out that gear fighting gear, like ever, like there's a bunch of brands that connect closely to martial arts.
Um, it's really Bogan though, to be rocking more Thai shorts that you got from Thailand, just to signal that you could do a roundhouse kicked the head. You
Jess Lucas: [00:18:45] like, you're welcoming that as
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:46] well.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:47] Yeah, exactly. Pudding wearing a, it does feel like sort of a slight flex. I don't know if baseball has the same sort of, um, uh, filter, like you don't have to worry as much.
Would that be fair? Would you
Jess Lucas: [00:19:03] maybe not in Australia?
Josh Janssen: [00:19:04] What do you think dear, if as old having like our own baseball team and just having once a week,
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:11] Well, I reckon it's as much as me saying, do you want to be into UFC? Like you should start watching a UFC fight.
Josh Janssen: [00:19:19] If I said, if you said, can you wear a UAE?
How about out once a week, we all wear a UFC tee shirt or whatever my point is that I think there could be something fun once a week. We all wear baseball jerseys.
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:34] Well, I'll play bass. I'll play baseball, but you weren't no interesting looking like a try Hardy Mo Guernsey that I don't even care for.
That's the epitome of a try hard.
Josh Janssen: [00:19:50] Well, there's nothing wrong with trying hard in life.
Jess Lucas: [00:19:52] Did it just do is maybe do Monday morning whips over a game of baseball in the park and give the ball at each other. And is that enough for you?
Josh Janssen: [00:20:02] Yeah, that's good. I'll wear, I'll wear the full, the full outfit,
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:09] the wear the mask of the, um, what do you call what's the vision that you're the catcher just behind.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:16] Yeah. Yeah. I could definitely, that's why I could get into hockey or whatever. I think there is something, uh, finding the, uh, the, the, the clothing, but, um, I understand that. Is there any. Uh, like grace, do you have any there any subcultures or, or, uh, things in life where you would be tempted to join in on that subculture?
Just for their fashion?
Grace Peris: [00:20:41] Uh, I don't know. Probably not, I don't even, I've never thought of that.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:51] So for roller
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:53] skating, I mean, the thing is,
Josh Janssen: [00:20:57] so for me, potentially I would get into, um, uh, yachting so that I can wear a CRISPR white polo and some boat shoes and some shorts.
Grace Peris: [00:21:12] Living on the Amalfi coast.
Josh Janssen: [00:21:15] Bikini's linen
Grace Peris: [00:21:17] shirts
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:19] look in the Shamar. I mean, potty in the winter, I fly over to the Amalfi. I'd get into
Grace Peris: [00:21:26] that culture.
Josh Janssen: [00:21:27] Yeah. I mean, TJ, what's your, um, if you were to reinvent yourself from a style perspective, cause you don't really. Um, uh, I was going to say, you don't have star, that's not the right word. You just don't have a style. I have, like,
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:42] I never sort of like when, like I don't dress like a skater. I don't dress like the punk scene, the stereotypical, I just.
If anything I do based on just like what's trending drop crotch pants, or, you know, fucking,
Josh Janssen: [00:21:58] how often are you wearing drop crunch?
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:00] Right? I'm actually got them on right now. I've got them on right now.
Jess Lucas: [00:22:05] Where TJ? I can't remember
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:07] what, sorry,
Jess Lucas: [00:22:08] what kind of shoes do you wear? I can Josh's but I can't.
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:12] Yeah, I've got like a pair of added ass, white, um,
Josh Janssen: [00:22:15] mentored sort of material.
Yeah,
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:17] no, no, no, not those ones I've got. And then I've got. I got to add it as pairs JJ. Yeah. So I've got the netted ones, which are more like a runner and the other ones, which are more like a, um, the classic added S but not the classic looking style. Like it's the same sort of white leather shoe. Um, but yeah, I mean, other than that, it's, I've always worn, like the sports shoes I've fucking pissed off.
My feet are too fat to fit into added S like the brand new added S that actually looks sick. Why did
Josh Janssen: [00:22:47] I give you my Nike's because my feet were too fat for them, but they fit you so of your feet. Yeah. I've got very wide there were an E like I have to. Yeah. I don't know if that means, I think too, but yeah, I have to get the, um, I can't just even knew about like, uh, new balance assets.
I can't
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:07] get the normal ones.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:08] I need to, uh, Get the wides. Yes.
Jess Lucas: [00:23:12] Yeah.
Grace Peris: [00:23:12] Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:14] It's annoying. How many chances shoes, shoes have you got? Jess? I reckon you'd be quite high. It's your dirty little secret
Grace Peris: [00:23:23] in the last week?
Josh Janssen: [00:23:25] What are you, what do you got on right now? Yeah,
Jess Lucas: [00:23:29] I'm barefoot right now, which is unlike me. I usually wear shoes all the time.
The over there. Um, Just around us at the moment, but love, love a loafer.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:40] Is that like a, like a Dunlop volley?
Jess Lucas: [00:23:44] Is it, I dunno, it's a dumb what volley,
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:46] not bullies were
Josh Janssen: [00:23:47] like the sort of the white sort of things like vans what's what's the F the phrase Lofa what does that actually mean?
Jess Lucas: [00:23:54] It's, it's just like a, it's a black leather shoe and it has like a little thing that it kind of comes up the top
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:01] right up upon.
Low heel at the back. They look,
Jess Lucas: [00:24:06] it's like a slide.
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:07] Look, if you're getting in a fight, you're not running off in a pair of loafers, they're coming off and you're going barefoot to leg it. And so, yeah,
Jess Lucas: [00:24:14] for sure. I mean, trying to be anchor that taught,
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:19] have you got the, the ones like what's that brand, there could be Gucci and they've got like the fluff at the back, but we killed four little foxes to get that.
It's have you, have you got, do you know what I'm talking about? The loafers. Fluff. Well, it's, it's like mink me mean, was it mink, mink hair? Front's
Grace Peris: [00:24:41] like the black
Jess Lucas: [00:24:41] bit. And then the back is the fluffy
Grace Peris: [00:24:43] bit coming out.
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:44] Yeah. Yeah. Real obnoxious, but a statement that you've got a bit of coin to drop off, for sure.
Forgot the back end.
Josh Janssen: [00:24:56] You've fallen into spotlight or something. Uh, Jess, that, that looks like a new top that you're wearing. It looks great. What, tell us about the top.
Jess Lucas: [00:25:08] It's really old, actually. I really, really, really?
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:11] That was it. Yeah. Did you just get you to just take a pump there, JJ?
Josh Janssen: [00:25:15] Well, no. So you should be already like, so I hadn't seen it before Jess mentioned the logo.
Um, it's just, yeah, so I just, I took a pant that it was, um, it was new.
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:27] I reckon you could be worth saying everything's sort of been around for a while. Cause you have so many clothes. Yes. Or are you like she has so much in her wardrobe. It's got like five leather jackets. I mean, not that I've seen you wear one, but actually one of Sydney way.
So it's probably safer to say like, Tell me about that old number you're wearing to clarify. I've got
Jess Lucas: [00:25:51] four, not five.
Tommy Jackett: [00:25:52] Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry. Sorry. Sold one on eBay
Josh Janssen: [00:25:54] and sorry, just, how do you decide what you're going to wear any given day? Like what, how do you decide, um,
Jess Lucas: [00:26:01] what at the moment I've only ever really just been rocking my exercise tops, to be honest, which this is now.
Cause it's so old, I've transitioned it from my wardrobe into my exercise cupboard. Um, and so I, I forgot about it. It was right at the bottom and I was like, Oh, whipped it out, thought I'd, uh, Pop it on, but you asked me about this logo.
Josh Janssen: [00:26:20] Yeah. You can tell us, it looks a bit like
Jess Lucas: [00:26:24] rage or
Tommy Jackett: [00:26:26] is that Volcom? Is it Volcom?
They've got a start.
You've got, you've got so many. How about like, how about hearing? Like, um, it was a Justin Bieber would only wear his Andy's ones. You know, he did a Calvin Klein deal, so I'm sure he put up,
Jess Lucas: [00:26:46] can I tell you something funny? That's just happened.
Josh Janssen: [00:26:49] Okay.
Jess Lucas: [00:26:51] I got distracted because my mom texted me, um, and it flashes up on my screen and it goes ha ha ha ha.
Bridget Jones is moment. So she's almost too much telly potent. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:27:06] But explain that. Cause I found that funny when we recorded that. Well, I just, I, I got it, but I was like, I know something's bad down
Jess Lucas: [00:27:16] here. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:27:20] So I kind of laughed. I kind of laughed cause I knew you'd be a bit embarrassed and
Jess Lucas: [00:27:23] I cry. I don't even care who doesn't wear.
Um, uh, what do you call them? Like sucky in pants or
Tommy Jackett: [00:27:31] like.
Jess Lucas: [00:27:32] I was
Grace Peris: [00:27:32] like, yes, banks,
Jess Lucas: [00:27:34] what do they call grace spanks. Yeah. That's a way that stuff when they're going out. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:27:38] I would love to get Spanx. Spanx never made it to
Jess Lucas: [00:27:41] the guys wardrobe.
Josh Janssen: [00:27:42] Yeah, it'd be, it'd be nice. I mean, the problem is that I feel like I would potentially.
Spanx would, it's not encouraging me to do like actual, like the healthy work then I need to do to fix my, like, to, you know?
Jess Lucas: [00:27:56] Yeah. Yeah. It feels good. When are you holding yourself in?
Josh Janssen: [00:27:59] Yeah, no, I agree. And so a hundred percent. And so anyway, so you have, so you've got like big anti-cop big Andes.
Jess Lucas: [00:28:07] They're just tight in my defense.
I always went, Nick is underneath like proper, like nice ones. I do generally probably wear good Nick, his outfit, like they're covered in like multiple layers of like cords and spanks. Um, and so Tali brought up on the show the other day. Um, when you go out, always wear nice underwear because you never know where the night's going to take you.
And I said something like, yeah, Um, ah, ha we've we've all had average turns moments and, and Bridget Jones, the movie, obviously she's wearing these like high braces kind of rainy on these. Yeah. And so I don't know about you guys, but I have
Grace Peris: [00:28:50] so sorry,
Jess Lucas: [00:28:52] but I have my workout undies and then I have my. Going out on work. Nice ones kind of,
as soon as I said that, okay. Just the two different ones, like every day, nice ones and then exercise. Anyway, the reason I said that is because I Westbank sometimes when you go out and it's happened, you know, you randomly take someone home and then. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:29:25] It's not even a surely it's not even a conversation, isn't it?
It's like, it's my thing.
Tommy Jackett: [00:29:31] You're an asshole. If he's mentioned, if you've said it, if you've, if you've said I've had the experience where I've been with somebody. And, you know, I, there was, I thought I was in an elderly home that would buy each. That would be, and I didn't say anything. I wouldn't say it. I haven't really thought about it until now.
And at the moment, I'm like,
Jess Lucas: [00:29:55] go for your mind
Tommy Jackett: [00:29:57] in my mind, not as much judgment as I threw it, then. And I still know. I'm just basically just being silly. You thought you were
Josh Janssen: [00:30:03] here, right? I was like, look, I'll do this
charity gigs in my time.
Tommy Jackett: [00:30:16] No, no, no, no, no. But I saw them. I was like clearly and I could tell she was a bit embarrassed. And so at that point I'm like, you feel the vibe and so. If you don't, if you just, if you lent into it, I dunno, this
Josh Janssen: [00:30:31] is the color thing. So I can just imagine this is not too dissimilar to a, uh, uh, stockings. No. Is it just like stockings that are extended up to your sort of tooth to your chest sort of thing?
Just under your chest? How far up are they going? You
Jess Lucas: [00:30:46] can get
Grace Peris: [00:30:47] like four, like that to kind of, yeah. Under
Jess Lucas: [00:30:50] your ribcage.
Tommy Jackett: [00:30:52] Oh, that wasn't my, that wasn't my incident. My incident was incident underwear. That was lovely. Obviously
Jess Lucas: [00:30:58] actual Bridget trends. Yeah, just like
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:00] the actual bar, like big Bay. Like baggy. I didn't know what was happening.
I was confused.
Jess Lucas: [00:31:11] See this, just validates the whole thing like guys do think about this stuff.
Josh Janssen: [00:31:16] The thing is, it's not the
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:18] girdle thing. It's it's,
Josh Janssen: [00:31:19] it's not the, um, yeah. But I think that what a T J is describing is the quality of the, and aware in the sense of like the sagginess or yeah. Things like that, which is like, could have the same criticism around someone's t-shirt if it's not I, and you're like, Oh yeah, yeah.
So there's a difference between that. And yeah, I don't think there's a, there's an issue with a M. With a S with a spank type of thing. I
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:45] mean, I don't mind the Spanx. I'm just, they're quite practical. It's like, obviously you want it sort of,
Josh Janssen: [00:31:51] have you ever pulled off a spank for someone to like, is that part of the undressing process or do you feel
Tommy Jackett: [00:31:57] like all my, all my ex girlfriends have done it, I think when you're with somebody it's like, it makes you don't really give a shit at that point.
Yeah. I've put off some Spanx in her day. That's what you're up.
Josh Janssen: [00:32:09] That's it? That's the quote. That was
that's a
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:16] good brand integration
Jess Lucas: [00:32:17] that you need help sometimes.
Josh Janssen: [00:32:19] Yeah. I bet. I think that that's like, it makes sense. And so that was on the latest episode of too much Tali, but telly. Yeah. Wasn't happy with it. Uh,
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:29] telly is the opposite. She's
Josh Janssen: [00:32:30] relatable selflessly
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:32] too. She wears a matching lingerie set when she goes out, which could be seen as overkill, or it could be seen as a good approach and
Jess Lucas: [00:32:43] she loves it primed.
Josh Janssen: [00:32:44] She can shoot
Tommy Jackett: [00:32:48] and more
Jess Lucas: [00:32:51] this laughing at the thought of my mom picturing me having the Bridget Jones moment.
Josh Janssen: [00:32:58] I mean, I love the idea of eventually as having, um, some of our podcasts animated. I think it would be great to have that scene. With your audio like you as an animated character. I think that would be quite funny.
Jess Lucas: [00:33:11] Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:33:13] All right. Great. Thanks. I think that was okay. We all, we all feeling better.
Tommy Jackett: [00:33:18] A hundred. You better feel better.
Jess Lucas: [00:33:19] You good?
Josh Janssen: [00:33:19] Yeah. I'm all good.
Jess Lucas: [00:33:21] Yeah. No, he's great. I just have one other question though.
Josh Janssen: [00:33:24] Yes. Okay.
Jess Lucas: [00:33:26] Last night, grand final.
Grace Peris: [00:33:29] Oh yes. Yeah. How are you feeling? Are you
Jess Lucas: [00:33:33] happy? Are you sad? He's one. I'm just, I'm happy because your lawns, obviously one.
Grace Peris: [00:33:38] Hmm. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:33:40] Yeah. I can't be my,
Grace Peris: [00:33:42] if
Tommy Jackett: [00:33:42] I'm going crazy. Yeah. Well, yeah, what's
Grace Peris: [00:33:46] everyone else here. And then nighttime grand final as well.
Josh Janssen: [00:33:48] It was a good vibe. I had so much cheese.
Tommy Jackett: [00:33:51] Oh, so many beers.
Josh Janssen: [00:33:54] Yeah. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:33:55] I mean, I was working with UFC, to be honest, it was a massive Adele was trying
Josh Janssen: [00:34:00] to get you a UFC. Yeah. At least a sweat band, like, like just for your wrist or something.
Tommy Jackett: [00:34:04] UFC merge. I just want to actually see if there's any good UFC merge. Men's t-shirts there might be some good shit. Oh, it's all a bit Bogan. I do. I do actually like easy, um, at a Sanya Israel out of Sonia. I don't think that tastes a surname
final
Grace Peris: [00:34:26] party last night.
Jess Lucas: [00:34:28] Like
Grace Peris: [00:34:29] with your huge
Jess Lucas: [00:34:31] me and myself. Yeah.
Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:34:34] Any Bridget Johnson.
Josh Janssen: [00:34:37] Oh yeah. Your family. They could have been in Bendigo. Are they able to do anything on
Grace Peris: [00:34:41] the potty or anything?
Jess Lucas: [00:34:42] Um, no. Cause that's really restricted as well. Pretty much like you can have five people over from another household. So I don't think this is, I don't
Grace Peris: [00:34:51] know if they do.
Josh Janssen: [00:34:55] I mean, it hasn't changed anything for me. Um, I would have the week in the same way, but, uh, thanks everyone. Uh, thank you, grace. Thank you, Jess. Thank you, Tommy. Uh, it's the, uh, daily talk show. Enjoy your, uh, your weekend and we'll see tomorrow. Have a good one.
See you guys.
