0:47
every quarter.
0:48
didn't have anything to do with my Instagram post
0:51
everything.
0:53
It was about trolling me last week.
0:57
Well, the exciting thing so the three day deal is in the building. Yeah, he's here. He's gonna be on the show very soon. You might have seen a bit of activity happening on Friday night where we picked him up from the airport with Mr. Nice seven head organized 3d deal balloon. Yeah, solid effort. Yeah, solid effort, right. He assumed that he could buy them without helium and that we're going to ride letting the what plenty of foam did it was thinking about the helium and I asked my mom just saying I should be fine. So I just I just took that what was it? Like this should be fine being I don't know if she's okay that it doesn't like that there were we were going to have to hold them up with a string which worked fine, but which I will say you end up buying ones that aren't meant to be filled with helium. Yeah. only meant for normal like oxygen. Yeah, it's it's anyway. You get bogged down but I did get my hair cut as as I promise you did because I left you on Friday. We all went out for dinner, which is lovely. But then you've you've had I won't say babysitting Judy's still isn't a baby baby the opposite
2:07
has been babysitting many your way.
2:09
All the way from Canada babysit Josh
2:11
but you guys have been together so we haven't seen each other since the nannying. Yes, yes, no. So we went to the Emporium. I in the city, I went to Sapphire and over the weekend, which Shopping Center here in Melbourne. My my is dead. Maya. I told you I know you said and I'm just I'm so behind it now. I was so furious in that store. There was always discounts like if prices are always discounted like that. It's not even that it was just these there was no one serving it counted. It was a shame Mazel they've got prehistoric systems that you need to enter like fucking big physical keys as like, how is it not like a self checkouts and why is everyone 60 who works here? Yeah, it's like I was thinking I said to me No, I was with my mom actually. Was it people 16 eight jobs no I said to mom I said like these people working here are the ones that are going to be replaced by robots you can just tell them what's because then not the program broken down by just working at my grumpy and like it was it was a horrible experience and then I went to the Apple Store got my microphone fixed on my selfie camera that's available used at why too much really pulls these phone now my selfie camera
3:29
this is there's a camera at the front here that has a microphone at the front Yeah, he's like there's microphones everywhere around this camera. He blew it blew my mind anyway you replace that but the service at somewhere like Apple Sure. Exceptional my ality game what I think it's hard being Maya, but I'm obsessed with Billy Graham talking now that we're talking retail yet so I bought a fountain pen Sure. I mean that's it don't say my cursive not really to me write your name in cursive short, but so I founded pen you isn't that when you actually deep into ink? No, you just cartridges might that looks like a fucking $2 Bic pen with that time and there's nothing special about how you just wrote my notes because I'm just getting used to it. Yeah, I do a bit of a thicker it's a thin Tommy Okay, it's it's still looking. Hello Tommy. How about you? I was pins. Sorry. I'm should you spend all that money? 49
4:28
Yeah, but it's a very nice it's a llama is the brand it's German looks nice. Yeah. And so I was but you know, they just annoy me because I like if you don't have everything annoys you, if not everything annoys me. 3d deal isn't it? Only me Okay. Yes.
4:46
You have to have it at the certain points like you can't just write from anywhere with anywhere on it because it sure flicks anyway your individual okay, but I am this is what I'm going to be writing the rest Seth codons book with? Well, I hope so. I mean, we probably met a lot of promises on this show, but I'm sorry. Have you noticed that I've like sort of turned a new leaf I'm starting to well, no turning a new leaf is completing the task. And that's why I'm not even gonna I'm not trolling you about not doing it because I just want to see you complete. So you say it more as a
5:19
junior
5:21
is starting to knock over that probably getting a haircut. Right? Okay, cool. Let's get three day deal. Yeah. into the show. Clap Clap him in
5:30
come in trade a deal. Scott. GIFs all these shit.
5:33
Don't mind the the shaky camera that was the audience they from the cubby house. Coming.
5:41
Coming. Do you want squeegees or a present first?
5:45
school? I think we
5:47
know President got present.
5:50
Put your headphones on so you can hear what's what's going as well. So, 3d deal has been staying at my place Josh
5:59
has been begging for a sleepover from one of us that were on the way for quite some time. And he finally got his wish. It's good transfer. How am I as a host? You can be honest,
6:11
breeze better but
6:13
breeze very accommodating. And you could with host like doing stuff. You make
6:17
good lamb though.
6:18
Thank you. You did lamb. Yeah, I haven't even had that. I've had Lyft overland but I haven't had on the night land. It's good the next day anyway. No, it's great The next day, but the point is the gesture of being invited over for the lamb on the day not just on there and you're like you want to be left over. Okay, you know what? It's good. Yeah, that's that's traded deal to the land. And we had lamb Ivan did smash to have Oh, yeah,
6:42
that was that was really good.
6:43
Kind of impressive. Yeah, I would say deal. And I'm getting serious. When I say dealing, because I'm a three day deal. But no, but when we picked you up on Friday night, we were waiting at the international arrivals at Melbourne airport. I have never done that. So family member.
7:02
I'm humbled by
7:02
let alone a best mate. And I've never met you. But I thought it was so good. Yeah, I see why people do it. And I just don't have family members that travel as much, you know, to be able to do it all the time. Have you ever done a George yc international arrival outside of the jack post debacle that I had, but outside of that? No, not really even mum and dad are going on congratulations to my brother James. Who has had his wife's had a baby Charlotte. I got on the lock train. And so the daily talk show did a congratulations. That was sort of my congratulations to him. I said you wrote that on Instagram to his Instagram on there from Delhi. So congratulations. She's very cute from Josh Tommy. Are you decent 97 and three day deal. Have you called him? No, that was my
7:53
that was he texted
7:54
him. I did that was the Instagram thing. So so but I will have any he lives in North Carolina. But mom and dad mom's been sad because she's a grand mom now. And she's stuck in Melbourne while grandkid is in North Carolina. Yeah, that would be hot. But so when they go into the month they go I spoke to dad after this. I'm doing this like planning stuff with tell us I got maybe I'll offer to drive them as I got organized a car. I mean, that is easier. So you're running goodbye. But I think they're coming back is more exciting. Maybe? Well, you know, yeah, so I just want to paint the picture Friday night where we got the news, which we shared on Friday's episode that a goose got in the way of you getting Yeah. And it wasn't one of us. So you're on the plane and it goes flies into
8:49
we don't even get off the ground and something they think it was a ghost but something fucked up the plane engine and then our they let us sit on the plane for two hours. But you're saying okay, there's a problem. We're not leaving.
9:03
Really? So did it go dark? on the plane? Was it pitch black at all? Oh, no.
9:07
It was like they had turned the lights off. And then from the right side I mean by the wing. There was just two big bangs and a flash of light and then the they hit the emergency brakes on the plane shit we use game. I was afterwards after thing because I thought we just ran over like a speed bump or something. Yeah, on the runway bump up some runway. Back in the pavement. Yeah, then it then the emergency brakes came on is just screeching metal and I was like, Oh, shit.
9:34
Okay, so that halted our plans and halted yours. You were sleeping in the airport. We we ended up having to pick you up later. On the Friday humans arrived at 730. And we picked you up at 7:30pm which was still great. And so we all got together. We got the balloons ready. We got out to the airport. We did a bit of you know, pre waiting. The anticipation of the flight. Yeah, I set the goal for Mr. Nice to feel like a cup of tea. Yeah. So we put the flash on the on the camera, and I put on sort of like burst mode. So it was that effect. It was awesome. I mean, the anticipation waiting for you to come out of one of the two doors that were available to exit from and we've we've never met you in real life. Yeah, who'd seen you on the web. And we knew you're wearing a red hat. So that's what we're looking out for. And not only that, but you also TJ, when you were when we're at the airport, we were sort of scheming the best approach. And there was a bit of an audience. And there was one point where you said, I've got an ID and Bry was filming and all that sort of thing. And she heard someone one of the people families who are waiting for someone else being like ice got an idea.
10:48
Huge amount of huge amount of investment. Yeah. And so we had the string and went very well. I
10:53
think Yeah, in the end, it was I walked out of the gate and then I just I hear someone screaming and then a bird. bright flash of light. And I'm like what the house
11:02
was literally the guru. So library. Yeah. No flashlight.
11:09
So you got a red bag, then? Yeah,
11:11
well, it's actually it's not a red. It's not red. So this is a this is a very traditional Canadian brands. So this is for Bodie. Oh, this is a Canadian brand called roots. What his roots used to be a Canadian leather manufacturer. Yeah. And then they got into clothing, sweat pants and sweatshirts and stuff. Yeah. So it's a T shirt for bowtie
11:32
that. That's awesome. I love it. And so roots you were telling me like the tracksuit pants are very popular. Yeah,
11:37
they're very popular. Like chicks. Chicks wear them all the time. I really yeah. And it's visually it's visually there. It's it's a good aesthetic. Oh, really?
11:47
Maybe it's not the Lululemon? Yeah, absolutely. lemons. Can I do lemons in Canada? Yeah. Is it the same Look, you're getting? No. Like loose? Yeah.
11:56
But they're really I flare at the end or anything like you can get them flared at the end. But I think it always looks better when it tapers. Yeah.
12:07
Fucking spitting the truth. Yeah.
12:09
And then we're not matching t shirt for Josh
12:15
a matching t shirt for Tom
12:17
and maple leaf on there. Yeah, I mean, it should now be the wavelength. Yeah.
12:21
People started to do that.
12:23
Really? Yeah, it makes sense. It smells nice. Smells.
12:28
Really? Yes. What Canada smells like well,
12:30
right tile three,
12:32
three day deal was telling me that the if you scratch one of the pieces like money, which one? Is it? A $50. Bill? I think it is if you scratch a $50 bill, what does it smell like maple syrup? No. Yeah. Is it just what people have thought it smells like or they made? It's actually
12:49
I think it's a bit of the placebo effects. enough people have said it that people
12:55
don't smell like
12:56
Doesn't it seem like that would be a huge expense does this it puts them
13:00
Yeah, I think so. And then it realistically the lifetime on it's pretty short because you scratch it like five times and it's in your wallet forever. And then it kind of goes away. So yeah,
13:09
definitely as a kid I would have been I would have liked it.
13:13
That's good. It's
13:14
almost like the the walls on Willy Wonka. Okay, yeah, it's the raspberries taste like Ross you know about that movie? Yeah.
13:25
Dennis the Menace and Willy Wonka. Yeah, great film. Anyway, the the main reason why you why. Why you are here is this box right here. Can you read what it says? It says TD Ts for the daily talk show. 3d printed squeegees. Oh, yeah. So before we open that, like, what's, this is a huge move for you. Yeah, it is like, first of all, coming to Australia. It's very far away. Yeah, you leave. We you've heard Have you heard us talk about you coming here and sort of how it all happened? Yeah,
13:58
each episode that I've sent to my parents that I've been on. So I think it's, it's been like maybe five episodes, or five or six that I've been mentioned on? Yeah. And then each one I'll be like, I'll be listening to it at the gym. And then I hear my name. And I'm like, Oh, that's pretty cool. And so what can you tell me what, like,
14:13
what's, what's the story from your side about you? now being like, how did this all start?
14:19
So it all started when Josh stuck a squeegee up is that
14:24
you meant to bury the late Yeah,
14:26
Episode 14. To to give context. I was sick said when I was in school, the teacher told us that males have G spots in their ass, which, and so you can feel it.
14:44
So I went home, and I got the shower squeegee. And I tested out the theory. But it was the first and last time I was like, I just didn't want that to be my shtick. That's not that was specifically the squeegee stick wasn't my, but somehow it has become my stick. Yeah, because we spoke about it. And we decided to create the squeegee cold, which starts off with five people who are in a spreadsheet, who are getting the squeegee keyring. And so when we described, we were looking on Amazon for squeegee k rings, and you reached out to us, and
15:21
you said, and you guys were talking about 3d printing, and then plastic manufacturing and stuff. And with school, we do a bit of 3d printing just for projects and stuff. So I figured I'll be a nice Canadian person and lend these guys a hand just give them a little bit of advice, because it was almost painful listening to you guys talk. Like, it does this and this and you got to do it like this. And I'm like, Oh, they have no I typed up an email and then sent it out. And I didn't expect anything out of it. I just thought it would be cool to at least reach out because I enjoyed the content that I was listening to. Yeah, I figured it would wouldn't be a bad idea. send something out and then just see what how and hopefully, that they can get it manufactured. And then I can say, Oh, I was I was a part. I was a little part of that. Yeah.
16:06
And we're terrible with that made. So you sent it all across? Yeah, I'm like, Oh, that's awesome. And then I went probably too far in the idea of like, let's go full blown manufacturing. And it was sort of like a $10,000 injury. Yeah. So we and so you came back to us, basically and said, Guys, I just bought a 3d printer. Yeah.
16:27
And that wasn't even done in relation to this. My dad, my parents, and I went to a woodworking convention. And one of the brands, they're sold 3d printers. And I remember seeing it was like one of the first things that I saw when I walked in, and I'm like, oh, that would be so dope to have one of those in my room. And we walked around the show for like two hours. And I didn't even really think about buying it until my mom was like, yeah, you should probably buy that. I'm thinking you're telling me to spend money. It's It doesn't work that way.
16:58
And the whole idea of doing a squeegee never even crossed my mind when I was going to buy it. It was just, it was being investment for school. Sure. And when I got home that night, I was I listened to whatever episode was coming up. And I was like, Oh shit, I can do that. I can actually 3d print the squeegees now. Yeah. So then that's when I reached back out again. And I said, I bought a 3d printer. If you guys are still serious with this, then we can pursue it. But we kind
17:28
of took it with a grain of salt. Because I mean, it's it's like, ah, amazing. As long as like we don't want to put you out. Yeah. And so you were persistent. You follow up? At what point did you think I'll make these and I'll give them to the guys in person.
17:42
It wasn't too long after, like, trying to think of when the timeline was, but I just decided it would be something cool to do. I'll at least make a 3d file for it. Yeah. Send over some digital renderers and stuff, then the sketches. So the least you guys have a vision of it. And then it was kind of an excuse for me to actually come and visit Australia because I wanted to since I was in like first year of college. Yeah, it would be a cool place to come and visit wouldn't Excuse me. Yeah, it was it was us. And I was like, oh, it would be it'll test to see if the printer works well, too. Right. So I just made the decision to the idea was already there. So all I had to do early was come in and actually physically produce it
18:26
was the tipping point when Josh said Canadian airlines have cheap flight? Yeah,
18:30
pretty much. And he was like, yeah, check out Air Canada. It was like all right.
18:36
First accent Yeah. Job. The end. And so now you're here for four months. Yep. Because you're studying industrial design. Is that right? Yeah, that's right. And so part of it is you can in turn a bunch of different places or whatever. And because this is like content production and doing merchant that sort of thing, and we were able to get across online for you Come here, internet, big media company, were able to make it work. Yeah. Which is amazing.
19:04
And so you're here for four months. I'm here basically until the end of August.
19:08
Amazing. just ridiculous. Yeah. So now there's so this is just the beginning. This is the beginning. It's the beginning of a new era. Absolutely. And so do you want to do the honors of opening the cardboard box? Yeah,
19:20
I'll do the opening. Okay, he's put a nice label on
19:22
us. And so we worried about this, them opening up your bags, and I
19:27
was actually because I checked on what you can pack inside of a check bag and it said if you're going to pack gifts, leave them unwrapped and just not really pack your packaging are wrapping
19:38
material. I'll close my eyes so I can feel the squeegee first. Maybe that's a good, so I'm just gonna pull these pants
19:48
just waiting for my hands around.
19:50
Oh, wow. Oh my god.
19:56
Oh.
19:58
So it's it's quite. Is that bringing back memories of when you were 13? Yeah. So it's live. It's got it's got the ring on it. Yeah.
20:08
That was good as
20:10
Yeah, it smells like chemicals. Yeah.
20:12
Oh, wow. So we've got him a
20:14
one smoke factory.
20:16
345. Okay, I've opened my eyes. This is amazing. Katie's purple.
20:24
And it's it's a purple and a dark lapis lazuli blue,
20:29
lapis lazuli.
20:32
lapis lazuli, lapis lazuli,
20:34
lapis lazuli. these are these are. Okay. So what I'm saying here is these ones we've got t dt. So he's engraved little he's already been engraved. It's like
20:47
3d printed 3d
20:48
printed the latest on to the 3d printed squeegee. Yeah, so we've got five of the same colored ones, which this is for the keyring called
20:56
yesterday's wrinkle.
20:58
Okay, great. You do realize we're actually sending one of these back to Canada.
21:01
I was thinking about that. I was like, Oh, I wonder if I should just leave one here and just ship it out. Should have
21:05
but that's I got like, wait, we'll, we'll be able to. So
21:10
what's what's so in the middle? It's like, so what's the deal? What's the actual so there's a two millimeter shell around the entire squeegee itself and inside is it builds it up in like an octagon pattern so that it is still strong. So it's 20% filled with material, so you're not wasting a lot of the stuff that you're printing with because the filament is expensive. And
21:34
why is it feel so good in the hand? It does. I've got a white one. Yeah, after he's done personalized ones for Josh and
21:41
he's got the black 97 has a nice metallic blue one. Oh, that goes very well with these aesthetic. Hey, take that
21:47
now. 97 throw it to him.
21:51
There we go. And we've got this is the communal one. Maybe we could put like a communal. Some sort of a case by case. This because this is great. Wrong corner, which is perfect. And then there's one and then I got a
22:03
yellow 3d Dylan.
22:05
Amazing. So when you before you made these, did you think that would turn out like this?
22:09
Not really. I had no idea what they were going to look like to be honest. I didn't know how big they were going to be. Or like how large size wise how heavy they would end up being?
22:20
Still pretty good. Yeah. In terms of like they're not too heavy. Yeah, perfect. I got there were bigger than I thought. But I actually liked the size and there really is a real presence.
22:32
It's a little bit bigger than like a key fob or something. Yeah.
22:34
And so getting into Malbin first. Couple of days here. Yeah. Your sister your 10 year old sister has written your list. Yeah,
22:46
what's on the list? The list is Huntsman spiders, white tail spiders, redback spiders,
22:53
dozens of different types of snakes. And so what what is she expecting from you with the list? I think that she expected me to arrive in Australia and there's just wildlife everywhere and all this stuff is poisonous and dangerous and toxic. She's like, be careful of emus and Castle berries and be careful of kangaroos because there's they're strong and they'll kick your ass kind of a thing.
23:15
Well, I think that is such a an illusion, then the international people have Grizzly Bay's. Yeah, they will fucked up then most of the things Yeah. Okay. Unless you get bitten by, you know, Ty pan or something in Australia. Yeah, you don't see them. Dr. Pan, just a real type of snake a deadly snake. No, I didn't
23:36
know that a
23:38
deal. I mean, deals this the one I was petrified. So he's got the knowledge on all of this stuff. Yeah. On Friday night, we had a we had some dinner when you arrived. And you said that you have a fear of something. Yeah.
23:49
What is that? I have a fear of moss.
23:51
moths. Yep. Okay, great. A lower level. Yeah, that's what I think the low level fees that the best time the best time because it's it's it's a bit like the the most they're not going to hurt you whatsoever. Yeah. Yeah,
24:05
it's just gross. What don't you like about them? I just don't like the fact that they're some of them can get really big and fat and show there's like weird hairs on them. Yeah. And they're always coming to the light. So you're just trying to go outside at night. And then there's just 10 hundred moths on the wall. What about the dusty ones? Yeah, that's gross. Yeah, they I mean, they're not a fan of that at all. So.
24:24
So in regards to wildlife. You were slightly just disappointed by stone the lack of
24:32
wildlife I think like there was with you Like always. There's no squirrels here.
24:37
We don't have square. I mean, I don't mind that squirrels are kind of annoying.
24:41
And the possums you can only say it nice. Yeah, we did make a trip to list the field. Yeah, we found some kangaroos. kangaroos outside. What do you think of that? Is that your first kangaroo sighting? First wild King?
24:53
Okay, we have we have a few of them at the Toronto zoo. Really? But yeah, but they're not so sad. They're, they're ready. They've got more of a brown sugar. darker brown. to them.
25:03
What
25:04
so they can survive the winter. Is it some sort of maybe I think they bring them inside though. Does that around wintertime? Like they keep them inside for most of the time in that make sense? You'd have so called freezing. Yeah, yeah. Right now we heading into winter. What's the temperature here like for you? I mean, I was in a T shirt and everybody else this morning showed up in hoodies. Yeah,
25:23
I had a puffy jacket on. Yes. Very Melvin. I was wearing a beanie. Yeah, you're
25:27
wearing a beanie. And I showed up in a in a T shirt
25:31
where you left and it was been snowing. Yeah,
25:33
you brought up the night before I left was it had been lightly snowing and it makes it like snow and rain. Yeah. And the day that I left was just pouring rain and it was freezing cold. So you're in your element. Yeah, I'm a lot more comfortable now.
25:48
So we're gonna have to set up projects for you over the time that you're here civically for the show? What are some of the observations in Australia so far? An outsider coming in? What have you noticed? What can you share with our international viewers or listeners that we may not communicate properly?
26:10
There's, there's a lot more emphasis on like food culture and Australia. I've noticed just as I'm a living with me to be
26:17
here,
26:18
but even just in the first four days
26:22
there's not as many Starbucks fast food joints are a lot smaller and a lot less emphasized here. Like back home in Toronto. There's a McDonald's like every 10 feet and then there's a Harvey's and there's all this other stuff. Well, if
26:35
you go to the original towns in Australia, yeah, that's where they release of chock a block full of fast food outlets. I mean, there's Yeah, there's just too many great options. There's too many right burger places, you know, boutique pizza joints. Yeah.
26:49
And like the amount of coffee shops. I think we've been into like three coffee shops in two days. So yeah.
26:55
And that's and we've been making coffee. Yeah,
26:57
we've done real good coffee at home. I fucked up the one yesterday.
27:00
Well, that's like, that was it was completely fun. I did not so I gave, because I'm, I'm typically not good at delegating things. And so I've tried to get better over time of like, there's something fun in the autonomy of like, the experience of you making the coffee. And so I we did like 6060 a big 60 gram of coffee. And it's meant to have about maybe 800 meals, I think 700 700
27:31
meals or something of a coffee of water that turns into the coffee. And I came out of the shower and there was maybe like 200 males but it
27:40
worked out okay. It was Yeah,
27:41
it really
27:42
tasty coffee. It tasted good. But you something What have you thought about the cost of living here in Australia?
27:50
For the most part, it's pretty the same you guys bananas are expensive that really $3 a kilogram.
27:55
So I'm going down because I've been assigned my wife's DNA to go to that little grocery down here which I'll take you to a dolla dolla dolla
28:03
dolla 50 either
28:06
way did that way getting old around that because three day deal has that uni lifestyle. Yeah, in
28:14
that trainer in Rosslyn really minimalist and conservative with the amount of money I'm spending on food. Yeah, yes, it can just get out of hand. Super Quinn.
28:23
Well, lucky the luckily. Mr. 97 Yeah, yes, I'm yeah, I mean, some cool limited ass. Yeah,
28:29
you know, I've been called it I've been called a cheapskate before. Some of my friends. Like you never go out. It's like, I'm trying to save money here. Yeah.
28:36
Oh, well. And so the good, I think what we can also do is it would be fun to do a competition with rey de deal. And Mr. 97 to work out who can find the cheapest of a shopping list? Because you were telling me what is it? What is it that you do when it comes to to shopping in Canada,
28:56
so you can price matches certain grocery stores, you can price match. So if store a has bananas on bananas on a good idea, because they're the same price everywhere, but if
29:07
say superstore a has chicken on for $5 a pound and store B has it on for $3 and 50 cents a pound bag and you can go to superstore a and say hey, this other place has it but I want to give you my business interesting, match the price and they'll match the price for you as long as it's the same thing. You can't say oh, this chicken breast is kind of the same as that full chicken price. It has it has to be this thing but if it as long as it's the same same product,
29:37
Mr. Tony says the price Do you feel like you know, so if we do if you are labeled as a tide us on my side, yeah, the time you spend trying to work this all out, like trying to get the bargain. You think that's like, just a lot of time that you don't get back that could be focused somewhere else? Like if you just did pay a little bit more. Yeah, but I think I think it's all about it's finding somebody to darlin so once once you found the product, then you can just buy
30:03
that
30:04
yeah, it's like once you once you figure it out all the KPI gets there and the cheap bananas the cheap exit, then that's just you go to so you don't have to worry about waiting any is just the initial time investment up front. But other than that, it's like hunting. Yeah, yeah. You know that like if you want a certain amount that's what Yeah,
30:19
you know, to go to certain cities, none of us have a
30:23
three day deal. You have to shopping list. So you, you you work out the things that you want, right? So you do your normal shop. Yeah. And at the same store, you then go with a list of everything you want them to price match. Yeah.
30:36
So I'll have a list of everything that I want, want to buy need to eat, what stuff can be priced matched the price of that, and then the price compared to what they have it listed out at the store. So I know how much I'm saving and food on a spreadsheet. Yeah, I do it in Excel each each time I go grocery shopping
30:53
and what's the what's the counter person? What are they? What are they just looking at? Another one of these guys? Yeah,
30:59
well, the the lady at the the superstar we go to she knows myself and my mom and our family really well, just because we've been going there for like 10 years now. Yeah. So we built up a reputation with them. Yeah. So
31:12
a reputation of
31:15
as soon as they see myself or my mom walk in, they're like, Okay, get ready for we gotta get ready. They get the they get them a little machine out and everything. Yeah,
31:22
the low cost. Yeah, what's not too dissimilar to what they're going to go out of business.
31:30
What was I gonna say? The other extreme couponing? Have you heard about? Yeah,
31:36
it's kind of like that just a bit more reserved. It's not
31:39
a bit more reserved. What does that like? Just
31:41
Well, I think I think with extreme couponing, it's like running out to just buy random, random stuff just because you have a coupon for
31:48
Do you have coupons in Canada or not? They send
31:51
them out in the newspaper. But most of the stuff we do is just on our phone.
31:54
It used to be this book that you can still buy it actually. My son's day you can get it. The entertainment broken inside is just all these different, like, get like, half price bowling used to be big for videos like yeah, renting VHS tapes. Back in the day. I remember you could go to different places. And now it's, I mean, it's okay. Yeah. Do your parents still use Josh Yeah, big for dinners. And I actually found this out. I didn't want to do an app now. I'm he's got this app, that is restaurants in the area, and a discount that they're offering this specific time and you can claim the discount could be 30% off. If you get in before 6pm, or Yeah, all day. It's this cuts off at 8pm.
32:38
That makes sense.
32:40
Which maybe you need to get across that if you're wanting to probably even you're saying like you're very similar to Mr. 97. You'll go out to dinner maybe once a month. Yeah,
32:48
like we don't do it often. I'd rather just cook unless it's a special occasion. Like we went out before I left for here just so that everyone had that family time together. But I mean, if if I'm in school, I'm not going to go out actively out of my way will make maybe go out once a semester
33:04
without like coffees and stuff, would you would you spend three bucks a day on coffee or anything like
33:09
that? I'd rather spend $10 and buy a bag of coffee. That will last me three weeks and $3 a day for 21? Yeah,
33:19
it was he crunching the numbers. Yeah, well, I still haven't crunched the numbers. Because we bought the big fucking thing. I think it works out about the same price by drinking or just because the hipster join so we're getting the coffee from it all sort of works. all works out like you think 60 grams of coffee is a lot of cost so much coffee, isn't it? It doesn't make it that much when you can when you think about now, especially once you pour it out. I've been on the Nescafe bandwagon. I'm back on it. Can you do Mokoena? Yeah, you can just get one for the office. Have you ever drink that shit? Like the like? It's like dried it's like the dried coffee is instant coffee. I've tried instant coffee and I'm not
34:00
a fan. Yeah, yeah.
34:00
I like take like the tea that you had last night.
34:04
Tea is good. Yeah,
34:04
like the commodities my go to? Yeah, I'll start having that more. In the US. They actually have with them CVS and Walgreens. The coupon stuff is so full on there because they like you get a receipt. And it's like just like a major Yeah, it's like a made along in regards to the metric system versus the empirical. Ariel's Imperial Thank you.
34:31
You got me the sometimes you guys refer to pounds Yep. And then sometimes you're 50 kilograms
34:39
Yeah, if I wanted to price match chicken the price online is listed per pound been to price match I need to convert it to kilograms which is a little bizarre like they have the numbers there but the number is really really small at the bottom of the thing.
34:54
So is this just like a transition you miles per hour?
34:58
hour or so kilometers per hour? Oh good. Yeah.
35:02
This is slightly confusing. So when you're in school
35:07
no but the thing is it but he also still goes to the supermarket has to deal with pounds so with a trying to transit they're going to get rid of the whole pouncing I think it's just the way that they purchase the items the countries and stuff that they purchase a car listing it and pounds and they just converted it to kilograms down at the bottom. What
35:22
blew me away was some of the legal ages. So dry. Tell me driving smoking marijuana because it's legal now. Yeah. Drinking? What are the ages driving
35:31
you can get your driver's license when you once you turn 16? I think the full so you can draw by yourself? No, you have to you have to do a year of driver's school. And then you can apply that's called your G one. Yeah. And then you can apply or do a test to get your G two. And then that's another year. Before you can do your G test, which is your final test which basically allows you to drive along with your G two. You can drive alone but with a G one. You need to be with someone who has a full g license.
36:00
I said if I had my full license and you had j one
36:03
yeah, we could just go cruising basically. Yeah, that's the way it works. That's not too dissimilar. Else. Yeah. Yeah.
36:07
I think it's this is pretty similar. And then to alcohol, alcohols, 19 and then weighed weeds. 18. And what When did we become legal in Canada?
36:20
October I think this past October. Okay. It was supposed to be Canada Day. And it was July 1.
36:25
And what happened? What have you seen a big change?
36:28
Hmm. I've smelted a lot more but realistically there hasn't been as much of a change of it like a lot of the a lot of the university campuses are starting to promote non smoking in general whether that cigarettes or weed it's they've just completely banned that they've taken out all a lot of the smoking shelters off of campus
36:45
shelters. Yeah.
36:46
Snow Yeah, got that thing and for the most part there hasn't been a lot of backlash in terms of people on the street smoking it like there's definitely there's certain spaces where you can and where you can't Yeah,
37:01
is there a big movement to promote not driving
37:06
under the that that's been a huge thing? Because like drinking and driving has been a has been a problem in Canada a lot
37:15
and awesome the road like yeah, I says in method oh no like ice row Yeah. Anyone intoxicated is
37:23
it's a mess like the wintertime there's so many car accidents Yeah.
37:29
But with with the weed thing it's I've noticed that a lot more like especially advertisements on TV. things on the radio there's even been posters they have posters up all around the school
37:41
promoting an old saying don't saying don't do that. Yeah, well you never know i mean the amount of money that the industry Yeah. What the are you thinking promoting promoting like Yeah, get into the local you know by dispensary. Yeah.
37:54
Drive in and drive out half a pound man she weighed three day deal
37:59
Yeah, I thought I think a lot of the dispensaries too are required to have it's kind of like when you buy a pack of cigarettes and it has the warning on it like this this is linked to cause cancer Australia is a full on
38:08
the head like photos
38:09
Yeah, it's it's it's pretty messed up isn't it? Yeah.
38:11
I know someone that asks for the specific type really so doesn't have really doesn't want the baby doesn't want the dying baby wants the guy who's just got I cancer
38:25
it follows
38:26
maybe that's your fucking thinking maybe quit. Pick two brands. I like if you want to have Mel Barrow whatever. Barbara Barbara there's a all the eye cancer ones but then I couldn't tell you but I think it's a government things and they just Yeah, they only they package. Yeah. I loved that. Three to deal with so excited about being here. That he now if you got if you got to reach out to his parents. Yeah, we did. What you
38:55
land on Friday, landed on Friday. We went out to dinner and everything. And it just completely slipped my mind. I was like, I figured they would just know. Yeah.
39:02
So I get a mess. Yeah, the daily talk show today I am from deals mom. Yeah. Okay, just wanting to make sure. It was okay and alive and all that sort of thing. And we kind of looked at each other. We're like, Oh, shit.
39:18
So she's all good. Yeah, she's all good. She understands.
39:21
All right.
39:22
So what does your family think about this whole thing? They At first, they were like, they were a little apprehensive about it. And they was at the squeegee. Was it the episode? No, actually, they were like, you're going to move halfway across the world to work with these two people that we've never met that you've never met? Yeah, you haven't they could be serial killer.
39:39
From like you could be to be true from and we haven't even mentioned Mr. Nice. from listening to us from seeing videos of us. How much are we consistent to that person that you thought we were? Yeah,
39:54
you're like you're pretty spot on. Right? Yeah. You guys are a lot taller. I remember when I was watching the videos. I've figured you are the same height as me and that Josh was maybe a little bit taller. or
40:05
shorter. It's got up. Yeah,
40:06
there's a picture of you with Matt D. Avella. And Maddie Avella. Looks like three feet tall and you guys are powering on both sides. Yeah,
40:14
I am. I just remember that fun. I felt like it was slightly leaner and 10. And that was Yeah. Definitely darker. Yeah, he'd been in Europe for five months. Yeah. So something okay, so we were told in the expected What about how we talk about the space Mr. 97? Like, what we're doing pretty pretty much the same stuff. All right, good. This is just this is testament. And he was he was impressed by my internet speed.
40:38
was finally the FaceTime didn't mess up once. Yeah. And like back home, it would cut out maybe three, four or five times because every 200 up and down is
40:48
not working. It's working really well. What about living in Melbourne in general the apartment style living what are the main differences? There's really not much
40:58
yeah, I think maybe there's more emphasis on window space and like natural light. Yeah,
41:02
it's definitely out. We that was like your main metric was it's like we need to have a lot a lot and
41:08
you guys own it. Yeah. And you guys have a real nice apartment to like, my grandma back home has an apartment. And it's not to say that it's worse or anything but it's just it's a different type of apartment. Then compared to what you guys have. Yeah. Because you guys have one that's like very compact living. Don't really own a lot of stuff. You have the car downstairs that's more or less about it. You have what you need and that's not excessive. What is granny have? hers is kind of like if you were to take a like a suburban house and kind of smash it down to one level. It's there's two two bedrooms a bathroom big living room area
41:44
enough stuff for four bedroom half.
41:48
You could probably you could probably outfit a four bedroom house
41:52
was granny needs to get on that day.
41:56
The The one thing I've noticed is when people are staying with you start getting self conscious on your things that you do. TV time, I've started to realize I spend too much time watching TV
42:08
Do you think Did you ever you know, I know I personally I don't think so. I mean, I don't watch a lot of TV in general. But like back home, it's it's kind of a ritual. We'll have dinner and then basically dinnertime until we go to sleep is watching the news and then watching whatever TV show is on something like that. Because I watch a lot of YouTube, which I think is different from TV because you can almost pick you can pick whatever you want to watch, really whereas TV is whatever's being listed.
42:35
You have my house. I don't even have a TV.
42:37
Okay, well,
42:38
it's also like we just got rid of it. But it's great because I want body to be constantly Yeah, I agree. I think that's the way to go. Like on monsters though.
42:46
Lego masters is cool.
42:47
yesterday. He calls it mommy TV and daddy TV. Whoever gives it to him. So if I'm around he says daddy TV. Daddy TV iPad. Yeah, yes. Just my phone. Yeah. But sometimes like over the weekend if he's, he's been good. Given a little deli dear.
43:03
Well, three day deal. Welcome to Melbourne,
43:05
mate. Yeah, it's so great having you here. We have four months. That was the whole thing. Like on the weekend, every single time we were like, getting ready to rush to do something. Yeah, we've got time we
43:15
we have so much time time is like the one luxury that we do. Which is kind of nice. You've
43:20
got a few cool projects that you could be working on while you're here. Yeah. Should we talk about them? Or should we just I mean, that could be jumping the gun. Yeah, let's we'll just we'll ease into all this stuff. Yeah. If you've got anything that you want to sit as a task, the three day deal to do in I think that you're the perfect correspondent. Yeah, go out on the ground. Maybe even interview some junkies that could be Yeah,
43:43
I'm not opposed to
43:45
apologize. We won't have him do yeah,
43:47
we won't do that now. But we will definitely there's opportunities to Melbourne maybe but you were saying the junkies out because I don't have guns.
43:57
No, that's that's one thing. Like we were watching the news last night and back home in Toronto. It would be at least two stories about a shooting and then a story about a stabbing and then maybe someone robbed a place yeah. And I think the most violent thing last night was someone punched someone that's where I'm
44:16
at. I think he's disabled. Yeah. In fact, it wouldn't sell any anyway. It wasn't a shooting. We've got the squeegees here we're going to send them out yeah the five that were that were requested the five that got access to the call
44:30
they will be in your inbox there on the right
44:32
we had a Charles Gabby Ross Yep, wine and Ross and what's his name? Baker Baker. Yeah, that's it all right. Can we get BK to come and do the exchange he's he's he's sweeten the deal on Victoria straight No, he's got he got a like a character to run of the Josh Oh yeah. So we can do the handover perfect. Yes, do that today. Talk show everyone hi the daily talk show.com you never know an email might turn into hang with us for four months. So watch what you do. Have a good one will say tomorrow.
