Jo’s advice on the show

How can you manage an anxious or 'churning' mind day to day?

Notice the thought, name it as just a thought rather than a truth, and let it pass through rather than suppressing or spiralling on it; pair this with daily breathwork and meditation.

How do you deal with social anxiety when meeting lots of new people?

Shift from feeling to curiosity: ask specific questions about the other person (e.g. about their children), smile and remember names, because emotion is contagious and curiosity pulls your focus out of your own head.

How should you approach building a vision board?

Focus the board on a quality or state you want to embody (like 'exploration') rather than specific outcomes or objects, since outcomes like a Rolex picture won't just manifest, and a quality can be lived daily regardless of whether a concrete goal is achieved.

Running a cardiac stress test without a bra

Ep 619▶ 19:32

Jo Stanley describes being told she had to remove her bra for a treadmill heart-rate stress test, and that she stopped not because her heart gave out but because the pain in her breasts became unbearable, which she frames as a gender bias in medical testing.

How does Jo Stanley practice mindfulness and meditation day to day?

From episode 619→
Why do cardiac stress tests require you to run without a bra?

Jo Stanley recounts that during a treadmill stress test she was told she couldn't wear a bra so they could properly attach monitoring equipment, which she cites as an example of medical science being gender-biased toward men's comfort.

From episode 619→
What was it like being a woman in stand-up comedy in the 1990s/2000s?

Jo Stanley says audiences were generally fine with her, but being the only woman in the green room among loud, confident men was intimidating and contributed to her eventually stopping stand-up when breakfast radio took over.
