Daily Talk Show Episode 295 what's happening guys? It's Monday in Melbourne in Collingwood. Yeah,
0:10
I'm feeling good. Have a good week I'm feeling mostly feeling good because I haven't
0:15
coming off the back of a weekend I've had trauma
0:18
in my life previously
0:20
yeah of drinking myself to stupidity and then feeling absolutely rubbish on a Monday but that's no longer for me
0:26
we live above or below and we had no say do not say that night I won't say which is buffalo an official Body Shop bolo is Australia right. But I think there is actually a brand called bottle I bet I won't say the specific but one of the top two top three but we had a drink on Friday night teach you Yeah. Rose I
0:48
Dude, you you drink more than me? Yeah, it's official because I don't drink you've got like this weird thing where it's like I don't drink but then if you're feeling a bit like you want to drink your drink of Bray wants to but I wanted read. Yeah,
1:00
you wanted sort of like a semi on blonde or some sort of white
1:04
Of course because it's hot weather and I but I drink a bottle of red on a
1:08
40 degrees today. We came to the middle from eyes with a rosy
1:14
Yeah, nice color. What do you think of it? We do wine and Wine Library with with Josh guy who hates
1:21
alcohol. It also the taste the same here? It was it was I think it was because Bray was going upstairs. Yeah. And she saw like people just like preparing for their night and had a bottle of wine. Yeah, we're going up into their apartment. Yeah. Some something nice about watching the sun. Yes, it
1:38
100% I quit alcohol for 2019 I'm taking bookings for drinking partners in 2020. Currently,
1:45
you'll go real hard. No,
1:47
no, I don't think so. By the time it gets to 2020 I've just got this vision of January hot in Australia. down the beach for a week in a beach house just sinking piece on the beach with my son you real
2:02
the okie Sharad is on the beach in Florida. The great differences No, but I'm
2:08
looking forward to it. But I am. Yeah, this this year. I mean, this is the thing I was cooking last night, and I had some some cheese and I had some salami and I had some biscuits and crackers. And I was just thinking how good it would be to drink some red wine. And so you're getting these little habits like you're saying Friday night everyone's getting the little thing you do find these little it's just this nice little routine that people get into. But there I wanted to give an update each month on the how I'm feeling this is I'm into my third month no drinking. I wasn't an alcoholic before I just always drank and to access a lot of times.
2:44
It sound like it
2:45
definitely does.
2:47
Not I had control oh maybe I didn't have control of now that I haven't been drinking I I realize the amount of times I drank to get fucked up. No, I bet to reduce some way a lot of anxiety or some feelings and emotions like I have struggled like and I've been more aware of my mental struggles in this year than I ever have. But nothing much has changed. Like I don't have like some ridiculous amounts of stress. Although the thing is I'm now working with you so
3:18
the it'll comes up you just bring it to the office now do you think do you think that you're actually
3:26
directing you bring more stress to your day today? Or would the self medicating of the drinking end up bringing the anxiety anyway the neck on the Monday
3:36
Yeah, hundred percent and this is the thing right? I struggle fact either way. Well, I I realized the struggle that I have with no alcohol. And then I really and then I think about the added layer of struggle that drinking adds to it. So I'm you know, I feel anxious at times I feel you know, shitty, and then you drink, right? Which masks it then you get and then it sort of all builds up and so then you become irritable and shit. So I'm just realizing how I'm fuck without it. I'm fact with him. So I'm going to work out how to deal with my shit my like deal with myself. And so it sounds like it's bad. Sounds like I have, you know, high level things. I think I do. I've never I've never identified myself as having anxiety. But I feel like I am thinking more that I am a person that deals with anxiety and I think you say to me too, but I've never
4:31
classic though 2019 anxiety comes call and then all of a sudden Tommy comes into my anyone else feeling a bit anxious. Jesus? No, but I get it I think I think we all have varying levels.
4:44
But what you realize in regards to drinking I have the same issues with food raised on Friday had a big photoshoot she works at a tiger chocolate brand I know their their social enterprise social enterprise we did that for a yeah free bits but Bry brought home a huge huge huge container full of all the chocolate that I used on the photoshoot
5:10
this been touched by everybody do you think it's like you didn't get when you're a chunky
5:17
like it was high quality in my book so I just that's what I ate all weekend on the moon.
5:23
I just finished the whole thing and so because I think yeah, that's such a similarity that I know for me like saying no is the best thing for me even though I like I can put a lid on it and have time off but it's just this was like you love dark chocolate. And you see this I had a white chocolate with the cereal crushed up
5:47
Sorry, I thought you had white chocolate and you crush it up on the scene.
5:52
And I was eating all of them and the thing was that like brave and realized we were building IKEA furniture not embrace wherever you gone I'm trying to find the IKEA the instructions Yeah. Is that why you in the fridge though?
6:12
Now I was just like I was doing two things. I was like multitasking. Well I'm also having some chocolate from the fridge GG think it's Have you ever done a period of time like zero chocolate? Because chocolate is your shit. Last week we were second back on thousand calories smoothies. They don't fucking smoothie not smoothies, milk shakes and thick Shake, shake. You're like oh man sugars. Definitely my vice. You think? Yeah,
6:37
well, the thing is, I like chocolate. I also like dark dark chocolate. But I can also go to the very severe. But it was this weekend was that tipping point where Brian and I both knew that. Starting Monday This is a race like this is the biggest the biggest reset of
6:56
the year. I mean I've had I've had the JJ reset blow up where you live. What is that? In Tom's cafe? No pain so but Tommy's afraid. You like a lot? Yes, I'm done. It was a big weekend you'd blown it out. He'd been in Healesville it smashes you remember and a bit more of someone else's Parma. That's true. chippies, too. Yeah,
7:17
back. I've been doing file
7:19
you. Well, my understanding is the block the blow ups and then the turning points. There's been a few of them. And so what do you think it is? Because for me, I just I couldn't just have I couldn't say yes to alcohol one weekend. It's like, do you think it's a matter of going on down on that?
7:36
Well, yeah, that style. I think that part of it. I work out all these things. I stopped doing. Stop drinking lots of water, stop walking, all those things. So I'm just dialing over those things in.
7:48
Thanks. I think on the water. Yeah, pressure this and he sits me up with my seat. If you this is a guy who's thoughtful.
7:56
Mr. 97 update on 97 soon yeah.
8:00
I think there is I just push back. And I know I can't push back for you. But I push back on that radical change. And I know that sometimes radical change can be the the tipping point. But like implement, like, slowly implementing things. That's why I always think detoxes. Yeah. I'm like, it's bullshit. Bullshit, because you just going from such a, it's so drastic, and you can just slowly implement the changes and make them
8:27
super hypocritical, though to quit alcohol for a year and then say anything is extreme. Yeah,
8:33
you know, it's extreme. And so bit quitting. So that's sort of saying Do you think it's Do you think quitting for you, what are the lighting where
8:42
can people undervalue, quitting as a thing? I think that a lot of people like moderation, but for a lot of people, moderation doesn't work. Anyway. The most exciting thing, the two things to happen.
8:56
We are close enough. The offices close enough.
9:00
Well, we said yesterday, you've moved so close that you're going to be light. And your light this morning. Yeah.
9:04
Well, I left at five to 838 25.
9:09
And you're still like, Yeah,
9:10
because I'm we have our meeting at 830. But um, yeah, I'm still working out how long it takes. It takes me like, what, four minutes maybe? Yeah, but I'm very excited because during the move, I found
9:26
my walkie talkies
9:27
yet. And why the fuck do you have walkie talkies? Like, is this like legit one that you'd see people security guards at music festival?
9:35
So the reason I have them is because Dick Smith who aren't around anymore or maybe Cogan bought them, they're only online. Dick Smith had a sale. Maybe four years ago? Yeah. And I think about $49. I think I sold them on I was bargain maybe. And so I went there and manage just score. And what have you used in focus? This
9:57
is a purchase that? I mean, what, what could you possibly need walkie talkies for?
10:03
Well, when I was a kid, I used to walk around the National Park. And so I would speak to mom, and I would want to see how far I could go. So I would just be like, Mom, can you hear me now over? But yeah, now walk another hundred meters. Yeah, Mom, can you still hear me now over? Then should win say anything? My Mom, can you hear me now? I've actually Yes. And so we'll do that for a bit into your life. Yeah. But the thing is that sometimes those big wins because they line of sight. We're actually going to a hill. And I could pick up his mom from really far away. So it was exciting. But these so I had some and I gave him to my dad for him to use for work. And they got real greedy. I need to use them. Yeah, he was actually using them. So but when these came up on sale, I thought you never know when you need walkie talkies when we need walkie talkies. Well, it's about to be a big part of the show. So what I've decided is I think we might start by calling it the three kilometer club Yeah, okay. And so what we are going to do is if you are within three kilometers of the show
11:15
is that the distance that these yeah go Yes, that's that's pretty
11:18
father. I think they say that they go five K's but through my research at Churchill Park National Park. Yeah. They never go as far as what they say they're always they'll say five K's they're probably go.
11:28
So you've taken to take two or so let's make sense.
11:32
What I asked on Instagram was the people in Collingwood if you're around the area, because what I want to eventually do, yeah, and is give each person a walkie talkie once a week, we give one person the walkie talkie. Yeah. And they are our emergency walkie talkie line.
11:51
Okay, so this has to be someone who either leaves or works within three kilometers. Yeah. And so they have to have it on them because we were all the shows absolutely need to have an mornings especially when we go live this work really well. They're on call. They're all so so you're not going to buy multiples. I was thinking this isn't going to cost Well, yeah, promise.
12:10
I was thinking about it. It's got to be cost effective. We got it. Yes. The ones that we have. But okay, the thing is that we currently the reason this all came about was because I believe that where I live is within walkie talkie distance. Yeah. And so maybe that could be a walkie talkie distance. I like that as a phrase. walkie talkie distance. Yeah.
12:33
So Brady's working from home today. She home right now? I'm not sure. But the walkie talkies in the kitchen. And so if we can organize if we can get Bry to turn on the walkie talkies? Surely she's should be hearing that right now when she know because I can understand how the how this works. So you're putting on the headphones. Can you hear that? Hey, hey, breezy. How are you?
12:59
I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Are you at home? I'm just a greasy at the plant place. Okay.
13:09
When you get home Bry Oh, hi. It's me here. Yeah, it's Tell me. When you get home, can you make sure you turn on the walkie talkie please?
13:16
How far off are you? How long do you? Okay, so there's a walkie talkie. Eight minutes. Okay. Yeah, there's the walkie talkies in the kitchen. Can you put it on to when you get home? You hold down the menu button that also got a power button. You'll hear a noise. And it should be on power button. Yeah, so the menu is the power button. There's a single button you hold it down, you hear vape? And then if it's on 16, make sure it's on 16. And then can you just say radio Check, please. And I'll then say you're working? And then we'll know. Yeah. And if we don't hear from you in, turn it on. 16 radio checkpoint. Yeah, exactly. And if we don't see or anything within 15 minutes, we will send someone over 97 will come over. But we get that so I'm just I've got it on full, full volume. And you should be able to change the channel from the top left. All right,
14:13
catch a see. All right, Love you. Bye. Bye. your brains just become
14:20
Yeah, your mom. Absolutely entertaining your game. breeze doesn't isn't working today. She's got the day off because
14:28
we know Josh asked us to stay home from work and do this. walkie talkie walkie talkie club? No, I was into walkie talkies. There is something about isn't that old school like the communication like being able to just down the line.
14:42
It's number three normally has like if I go to
14:46
what you can get other people's signals. Yeah, that's good. I can do sending it out. So if again,
14:52
I'll just do on the three I'll say for anyone. Yeah. Radio check plays radio check. If this works, I'll be blown away. Surely. I mean, it's probably a great game for when you're by yourself and never happens. I'll do one more on channel one.
15:08
Radio Check, please. Radio check.
15:12
Please, it's fucking things that dumb. Plays work. I'll do one more channel. I reckon. I've got a good feeling man. This is good. podcasting material. Yeah. Radio check plays radio check.
15:27
absolutely horrible podcasting. Right. So
15:29
it's on?
15:31
Yes, I think five minutes we should have brought you back.
15:34
But I just love being connected the feeling of being connected
15:36
with currently doing a podcast which can go out to Kazakhstan someone listened to their bro.
15:42
I was actually like, where I thought this could eventually go with the whole walkie talkie thing where you can go really, really you could go like I'm talking other side of the world
15:53
with a walkie talkie with proper CB radio. So if we could get a system where we could check into truck drivers and stuff like that's what I'd be interested.
16:04
I know we're no say no pay. No say Yeah, but you need then
16:08
I did my house phone my home phone. Yeah.
16:11
portable and say where's the portable you need in? They do like the big fuck off ones as well. If we could get like a big antenna. How do you feel about that?
16:22
So what what you're doing is currently saying so they stopped paying? Yeah,
16:26
that's what I was saying. So they give us a because I dreamt of having that like when I was a kid having a walkie talkie that was able to pick up stuff from any
16:36
laws around actually recording these people. And what they say I come it's always very soon. They're not getting they're not exploring deep topics on on the CB radio lines.
16:49
I don't think I actually was thinking about it on the walk to work. I don't know. I think that it would be illegal for us to be putting the show on cross non stop recording like, like actually playing through the podcast live. Well, we could start a channel and just there isn't an
17:11
idea. Yeah, now just broadcasting it. We start with episode one. We've got at least 24 hours of non stop content. Now. How
17:19
do you put on Lupe How do you feel about actually sitting up like a pirate radio host? I don't even know what that is. So within within easy straight. Yeah, we could definitely get an FM transmitter and have a frequency. So
17:35
if you're an easy straight, we couldn't fulfill my dream of having a radio show.
17:40
This is the thing you've got to you've basically got one. We've got an even better one. That one that lives on the internet. Imagine if we had a frequency though. It's a daily
17:48
talk show. 80.6 on easy straight just on a z straight off.
17:53
The thing we didn't want this show today was a radio show.
17:55
It's turning into that. But connection wise. Yeah, very excited. I was getting making out with Miss 97 before about the speeds the speeds of my internet.
18:06
Art. I nearly vomited when when you when you told me that. So you call me on Friday. Man, you're so excited. As is kind of cool, but I probably don't find it as cold as what you do. Like Dude, I got internet connected.
18:20
It was the quickest internet that I've ever had connected. I called them.
18:27
I called them at 3pm How'd you find them? Firstly, so I was straightaway on to the property managers about it. And they're so vague and like, what's the deal with the internet? Like, I think we've got a sheet somewhere that explains that my I need that now. And so they ended up with scanning and printing out this this sheet. Yeah. And it was one ISP, which is sort of like when you part of an apartment block or whatever. Sometimes they say your energy provider is Arjun or whatever. And you get discounts
18:57
based on my heard of this. So they leave everyone's on it. So you get a discount.
19:02
All have to do. And so it turns out that the internet is all connected through one company. So it's like an alternative to MBM. So they control all of the stuff, too. Anyway, I call them and someone who answered sound like they'll from India as I like this is going to be a cluster fuck. No, it was just an Indian person that was across the road from me. Brilliant. And they said all we can get
19:30
we can get some technician there today, if you like is 3pm on Friday, that's pretty good. And so I filled out the form emailed it back to them and they had a guy there at 430 installing the unit. And so what he said that out of it apartments, so the speeds, everyone. They're all different tiers. There was a 200 megabits up and down speed. Yeah.
19:54
And my internet home I get about four and I pay $49 a month yeah but allows them to stream Netflix and search stupid shit and do email. Yeah, she's pretty much all I need it for need for her.
20:07
And so I was thinking big I was straightaway saying to think about point to point sort of where I can see the trains the web BK work. Yeah, I can see. Above, like where easy's is for, you can see pretty much across the road from where we spoke. And so what I was thinking is I could sit we could set up a network point to point to go to BK and I was even speaking to screw to Derek about it. And then once it became, we could point it down to Derek to us. And so we should have a network where we can share files, and we've got fast internet. I mean, it's awful. I don't know how much would use it. We've got pretty good internet right now. I just I think it's 60 as opposed to 200. How much did you How much do you pay per month for yourself? And Bry I'm sure breeze just streaming Netflix at home. Yeah, we can have Sonos going, we've got Netflix going we can be dead. But they do that with most everything was I was trying to like cap it out on the weekend. I was like using my laptop had my iPhone had Netflix going on my Bry you go into it was fucking smashing it. So I pay 170 979
21:18
bucks a month, which not missing? 97 What do you think? You guessed it was over 200? Yeah. 179 is not a bad deal for a commercial grade. How's it a good deal, though? Like for what you do? Well, because when I was like, this is how I was thinking about it. So we get 50 megabits up here. Yeah. In the office. And so what I was thinking is on a, on a day where we have something big for a client that needs to, we need to get to them really quickly. We could do it like four times faster
21:50
at my place. So I was like, okay, so if if I could say if we just say roughly said a time to $100 an hour actually watch in real time someone justify spending hundreds of dollars a month on the internet
22:04
to find my purchase. com is the domain name that I owned.
22:09
If we save an hour
22:13
is that someone calling? I think this is right. Here we go. I think right press the wrong button. Radio check plays radio check.
22:25
Standby. This is just
22:29
trying radio check plays Bry make sure you're pressing the top button to talk not the bottom call button radio check plays radio check.
22:36
Which even Lynn Janssen
22:39
Yes, we can hear you can you hear me?
22:48
Now it works. Man. It worked at the spot where your head was no, but it was a little bit fuzzy. Radio Check please. Bry Can you hear us? This reminds me of last. You know that TV show?
22:59
They're getting frequency the
23:03
lady can hear me y'all hear me but you can't I can't hear you try get closer to the window. Or I'm outside on the balcony radio check.
23:14
Mr. 97 shaking his head. We know that he's
23:21
Yeah, you're watching this is great. Did you have to move? Yeah,
23:30
it's a lot of side issue. But so you're near the window. Can you if you go out onto the balcony, so you just outside I think we'll even get a better signal.
23:45
Hi, Lucy. Thanks breezy by
23:50
waiting for
23:53
that. Can you just say goodbye?
24:00
Thank you. Thank you, however, just keep the channel on place.
24:09
Was that good content? I mean, it's okay. It's
24:15
97 Have you ever used a walkie talkie before? Yeah, we used to go on trips. We used to go on a bunch of car trips and that's one car had like a walkie talkie and then the other car in front had another walkie talkies. He just talked to the three of them.
24:29
That he's great. Yeah, I mean, that's when it really does work. Yeah, what I like is that you are essentially a child like you've something happened. Did you hit your head as a kid? Not yet. Not
24:39
my my brother Jake. Yeah. Mom was getting locking up the house or on a big hill and Jake pushed the pram accidentally down the hill and I flipped out.
24:53
Oh, God
24:55
is horrible said the only thing that was wrong with me was I had grass stains on me ones he Josh
25:01
little Dino.
25:03
So my thought was that you were trapped? Like that time that you like Katy Perry. You said that when when she became famous was the age she stopped that she stopped aging she won't she's 17 the concern
25:16
I have.
25:18
So your big child that's trapped in the sun and I like the excitement I'm not trying to crush your you live live in through you literally can't right now. The I like your enthusiasm. That's why it's like I laugh and think it's ridiculous how much money you spend on internet. And romance. Your old your old rebuttal would have been? Yeah, but look how much he's been on alcohol. Yeah,
25:39
as I said they're not sad
25:41
anymore. But you choose that you find the thing that you like and I guess it's it's something you don't have me actually
25:49
spending on a lot of things. I didn't buy that much time. So yeah.
25:52
And
25:54
the concern I have so we had a emails from BK from Leon from Alex. People all over Collingwood. Thank you. I put out a call to find some people for part of the three three kilometer club. I reckon
26:09
BK is our first real will get a second strong signal 100% he's, he's 40 meters away, and then up in the sky. 40 meters away.
26:19
You may be back 40 meters away. Were you talking about you kidding me? 50 meters, hundred meters. You
26:24
recognize no chance?
26:27
You don't know measurements? 97? What do you think?
26:29
Think about a field and kicking 50 meter. The 50 meters very far. Like it's hard to keep your
26:37
maybe like 7070 or 80.
26:39
Now
26:40
we are with 20 meters. Just to get to this side of the footpath. You reckon? Yes.
26:48
Guaranteed. And this is another we can do the measurements. But he's not 100 meters. Definitely under 100 meters away. So we're getting strong, actually.
26:58
Very, very, very, very quickly. Let's just go I think I've got a guy's number, but I'll just call Derek I've got good guys number screw to Derek. Let's just call screwed on find. Find it don't really care because he's a middle man. He has a neutral base based on how far he thinks.
27:16
Missing 97 if he had a button here, pull this
27:20
very spirited. Eric, quick question for you might I might? Yeah. How far do you think in meters it is from our office to became train? How many meters direct cannot be said to the other side of the street? Derek,
27:36
your office, Bruce of your office or
27:40
from where we record the show? Imagine if you were to do a line through the walls,
27:45
either to the train through the walls, imagining to get from your office to the footpath.
27:53
What you mean across all the way to where the trains are on the line of sight line as the crow flies, yet? Not running a cable?
28:06
Just imagine walkie talkies talking walkie talkies? How many meters?
28:18
Are you outside? Actually, I'm pacing it's 15 meters across the road 1516
28:27
total
28:29
to get to the front of the train is another probably three meters.
28:34
You fucking kidding me? You think it's I said it
28:37
made it I said 100 meters.
28:40
Now you would tell me dreaming? dreaming? It's ridiculous. I didn't know about this. I think you're so you're in the war. You're in the office. Okay, so you're with your meters from the fucking front door of our building 20 meters across the Ryan 40. Now you're probably not 20 meters, you're probably about six meters from the front door.
29:02
And then I'll give you another 16 so that I'll give you a 22 loosely, to get halfway into the train and give it another six maybe
29:12
30 meters happy anymore. Okay, great. Alright, thanks. Yeah,
29:17
thanks. Good. That's all we need to know where eventually you saw the cafe I had a walkie talkie would love for you to be part of the three kilometer club. Where in in a couple of weeks time will hand you over a walkie talkie to be our emergency line. If that's something
29:37
that 55 meters away.
29:39
160 Yeah.
29:41
My wife will go nuts.
29:44
With walkie talkies, for the kids really want them to use them. fantasy is Christmas shopping at chatty walkie talkies and matching target tracks.
30:00
She comes here four wheel drive sort of family.
30:02
Where's the love of the country? The country? I don't know. I don't know where you come from.
30:07
Do you know what more of a blokey thing also we should try and get Rupert involved? He's the record on the radio or put on the radio? Well, he did. He did primary school. Yeah,
30:16
over the CB radio wasn't saying like very far yet and 50 kilometers.
30:22
So we could definitely with we're thinking, I don't know how you feel about it. It's good. But we it would be great to say how far we could eventually go with it like for to set up an antenna and go for some of those really long distances. Maybe we could get Michelle in England. We could get someone from the US just slow the promises, bro.
30:42
Let's just start with your three k club. Final promise.
30:47
Tell it tell us what you think of these an FM transmitter for the show so that you if you're on Easy Street, you can actually tune in.
30:58
Wow, I put that into action. Amen. Not a promise. Yeah, let me let it roll through. Yeah. I know. I like this The dreams list versus the promise list? Yeah. Because they bought into each other and so easily.
31:10
Because how
31:12
easily? Yeah,
31:14
drop that into the promise.
31:15
There's something so daddy about radio that I find something so Daddy, like you. Derek you been? Have you been like a lover of broadcast of radio in your day? Or are you still? Yeah,
31:30
I did that thing. Being a kid in the 70s where you you literally sat there. And your radio was your whole? Well, it was 100% of your tech.
31:41
Like everything was your little mono to set radio. And I remember when they introduced FM and Fox FM and am FM and it was like I think it was like the Christmas of 1979 or something. And it was really it was it was amazing after growing up with three x y and trying to type songs and stuff like that. Yeah,
32:03
radio was huge. But then it faded away and then became
32:09
community radio.
32:12
Like you go to community cup which is this. How do you describe
32:15
for the alcohol bro? You go for the you go there for the sinking piece? Don't eat dairy drink. You drink or look sometimes I do.
32:26
Why did you wear that bloody grease?
32:33
Okay, right.
32:35
Community Radio is awesome. And it's really really what makes Melbourne special. One of the amazing things about Melbourne is our community radio. People get on
32:49
different conversations. It's not all like commercial radio. It's funny awesome. You're referring to like PBS which is
32:57
a triple ah okay
33:01
there's a few other real cult following behind the
33:04
because it's just Triple J fall into that at all on
33:09
Triple J was quite a thing when
33:13
I was working as a Korea and and I used to always just roll my radio the old
33:18
the old not that would roll the little lever to the right side. Yeah, don't bend
33:22
you know, you tune your radio by tuning and no
33:26
red line would move along. Yes.
33:28
And roll to the end and that was PBS. It was easy channel with it. You had to wait to hear it and then turn it back and get it right.
33:37
was how I turned it in. And I and I went to the end I kept going and I copy this new station and it was when triple arcane to
33:48
black guy came to know that.
33:52
A lot of people tuning out right now on this show.
34:01
Community community top. Yeah,
34:05
so a bunch of people like from community radio, all playing to raise money. How far off are we from podcasting in Melbourne being big enough, that all of a sudden where we can have a footy game skewed? Derek got Shawn Whelan, we've got the shameless girls on.
34:26
Field, you can easily field I think you could feel the podcasting team in that pub cricket and pub party where the different parts on the team that the community copies the rock stars versus the radio people. Yeah. The Rock Gods versus the mega hit. So So you've got the whole music community in there? Yeah,
34:47
well, I reckon we could talk specific. I reckon we could do radio versus podcast. We've got enough friends that are in
34:55
radio. Another promise. Write this down. Nice.
34:57
That's
34:59
it? Yeah, I think they are definitely. It's just a different base. There is some nostalgia that lots of people do have to radio, but I think it's dying in terms of the new generation. Like when I said when was last time you actually tune the radio to the station that you want. Like,
35:16
never. I live I haven't done it must be like, years. Yeah. Yeah.
35:22
Look at the US PBS has become like huge in podcasting. There's some of the best podcasters in the US. What is PBS public broadcast? Is that what's the stand for? Derek could be like public broadcaster nowadays something. But yeah, PBS in the US is, is huge. It's that you have that. Yeah,
35:44
longer form content and stuff. And what is a W NYC which is like the New York Public Radio? Yeah,
35:51
these different they're all Yeah, shifting to
35:54
thanks, Derek.
35:56
Which will, will pace it out together and we'll get a final number on that. That distance? Maybe someone's got Tyler's got these laser beam measures. Maybe we can drop that across the road. Is there a prize?
36:14
There's no prize. I
36:16
just wanted to have one off of app on me. But what do you want it to be like the radio?
36:21
For? Yeah, we'll do a sacred sound. Yeah, I don't know. Thanks, Derek. Thanks. Yeah,
36:26
I look, I'm on board. I want to let's get it to BK because in the morning he's in. And so I mean, it'll be slightly annoying for him as he runs a business but I think you'll enjoy it.
36:36
So tomorrow we can give that to BK. Mr. 97? How you going?
36:42
A good weekend. Good way. Good. Smile. Geez, your teeth have never seen them look so great. He never smiled.
36:51
97 and I had a slight blow up on Friday night. Yeah.
36:56
I mean, I didn't really get involved. I just I just one step away.
37:01
Well, 97 knows that if I if he Instagram dm says there's a good chance that because I don't have a personal dm it's going to be me. Yeah. And
37:11
sometimes we're both actually responding. And so I think it's quite funny. No one knows who the
37:15
CEO and I and I felt that there was a level of blame that was being served to me, in regards to 97 is basically being slightly what we could be described as rejected maybe. And
37:30
one of the pieces of feedback was, chicks don't really like the idea of, for one someone dating more than one person then themselves. Plus, they don't like it being spoken about on podcasting, which 97 had brought up to us. Yeah. And I stalk steered clear of it. Well, I think for the most part, I did and I may have said open for business or whatever, we can double down on it.
38:00
outrageous. Yeah, I was surprised did that. But
38:03
it's so it's pretty low level. It's it's what boxes? It's not smarty? Yes. Well, what boxes does it take? If it depends who for kids? Like if there's a 401k? Yeah,
38:15
I mean, do we need to give context of what actually what happened? Like how much do you want to talk about this is not areas where Now look, I think I think it's just Josh Josh
38:27
pushed me for an answer on one of one of the last shows last week's episode.
38:34
Still open for open for business. Yeah, business and then and then double down by passion, you know, live in Sierra show. However, what we have worked out is that Mason will answer any question,
38:47
incriminate him. So that's why the second part of it is that my assumption going in was that we were doing an extended version of a reality show where Mr. 97 the character on the show, but also human being what gives you that you are a human being, yeah, was going to be dating. And it was it had an element of
39:16
entertainment to it, and stuff that we would like to be able to bring up on the show. I think, yeah, Oregon, Oregon. That's, that's a fair sort of way to go about it. But it's, I can understand, like, if you come without any context, like for example, the shine, light coming from the shameless goes, you wouldn't have listened to an episode where we talked to Gemma and all that. So yeah,
39:38
I can understand sort of.
39:41
So what it means is, we're definitely still open for business. You don't have to answer I'm not asking you to answer that. It's a statement that I'm making. Mr. 97 is open for business.
39:52
I think what is dating dating is exactly that. Thanks to the black be Qt. Dating easy, is exactly that one. What happens, we don't have to know in fine details of what Mr. 97 is up to. But there should be an expectation that we that when Mr. 97 for the next three weeks, if Mr. 97 goes on a day, it is 100% as shareholders and stakeholders of is hard.
40:22
It is extremely important that the board is made aware of any progress. Yeah. Would that be fair? We don't the board doesn't even know the customers names. We don't need to know the customers details. Yeah.
40:34
But if Mr. 97 I think loose lips Janssen over, he cannot tell him yet legit. And he had this conversation that you and I have had a couple that I sleep. So just you might be able to like wrap it up, wrap it up with something else.
40:47
So Tommy, you and I have been through this where I've said if you don't want something to go out further, yeah, don't tell me which is a terrible try. It's the opposite of like, yeah, they're afraid that's different. When you picking downstairs. What does this mean? When we're downstairs and you're just like want to know, every every day? I've never heard of picking downstairs. I thought that was some sort of
41:09
dancing show.
41:12
You know what I'm picking downstairs
41:14
at a cafe and Josh was picking right downstairs. Lots of questions. Okay. Yeah.
41:20
It was picking downstairs. I
41:23
get it, I get it did. I don't want to see a trust issue. Arise here between Josh
41:30
and Mr. 90. So
41:31
this is why communication is so important. And so what we've and choosing your words, is also important. So open for business, not good pecking downstairs, good. The thing
41:41
is, the business line is missing it Stevens far from the person that's just in it for the sake of it. And that's the whole thing. This is Derek frame this segment. So well. He says, loving the genius bachelor wants a wife at first sight, which is the name of this reality shot. But you are a good dude who isn't looking to break hat. And so you're just exploring the dating scene as you haven't ever done. And so yeah, we want to respect that. But so we need updates. And in some form. Yeah.
42:12
And so what's the 97 and I were talking over the weekend about how it could be framed. So it's very obvious. Yeah. How do you feel TJ about when 97 gets a DM and he signed to enter into conversation. He copies and pastes a small disclaimer
42:34
that says something like that,
42:36
dude.
42:38
Hey, Hey, there, thanks so much. Just so you're aware. I, I'm on this podcast, and they've sent me the challenge on going on this on a date awake, it would be good. I'm seeing this as an awesome opportunity to meet people. But there is an expectation that I do give my perspective on how I'm feeling throughout the process. If you'd like to go on a date just for a bit of fun, the guys won't be there. I mean, the way that I
43:10
actually deleted you there blocked you at that point,
43:13
the way that I envisioned it was that way would be there with six cameras and Formica we
43:17
don't have the clout of the old radio.
43:21
You know, when we have our own frequency on a straight, baby, so what so so
43:26
I think you just go on dates, and you just talked to us about how you're feeling nothing else, not about the girl just about how what's going on with you.
43:33
But how is he for him? Because the reality
43:35
is when they actually start dieting and they outweigh boyfriend girlfriend. She'll probably be on the show. Yeah, she'll be you'll meet her. So that's what I want you to have the most, the most chance of finding a
43:49
97 concern is that he doesn't want to be having dates with someone if they aren't comfortable. I don't want to put words into your mouth. But that aren't come from having Kim one died other people not and to talk openly about his whole dating life not specific about this chick was
44:13
none of
44:13
that before. I think too bad. That is insane. If you're up for going on a date, there's a chance that going out with someone else.
44:20
So you can't that doesn't matter. Maybe the second bits not as true which like if you go on a date you just got to expect that the guy's got a podcast or
44:29
work Yeah, but I think that's the thing we're not trying to like the person that you find will be the one that's cool with that doesn't even give a shit yeah, I think you were trying to find someone that you can have fun with it's like you know talking shit that person most likely you will be like whatever and you might decide next day that you actually aren't going to be trying to date other girls Yeah, you just finding so you like you're saying no to the disclaimer. Definitely not a disclaimer that is fucking like pouring water on I've
45:00
got I feel like with how good night Mr. Nice Evans going. A little bit of borders not gonna hurt him now. Right? It's so because we spent a lot of time on Friday night workshopping that so what's the alternative What do you think how would you feel comfortable Mr. nine seven
45:15
thinking
45:17
yeah not not just copy facing a disk that's a good ad sources
45:25
this is the thing just be you and keeping you and just he was him and look what
45:29
happened?
45:32
I think I think they could potentially be a conversation in person about it.
45:37
Now I think I was dope before put in person I feel like in person it becomes like
45:41
you need to know if you like these people just go this this is the thing where you over baking it and go on a court go have coffee, don't My suggestion is don't do dinners and shit like that. Like just go for a coffee catch up with somebody go
45:54
for I felt like a disclaimer was a great middle ground. I was thinking release forms at the start. But that seems to me much. You know how many
46:01
days you've been on, bro?
46:03
I don't know. But I'll definitely in this sort of nowadays, with with wherever things are released forms that every day.
46:08
I mean, in the eyes, the Kardashians are having people sign in the eyes when they come into their house. Absolutely. I think it makes sense. By just keep keep persevering in the dating site. I think everyone who isn't dating is essentially looking to date. They might
46:24
not meet somebody, the thing I'm just not sure on is so where is the light? Look? What are we doing? How do we how do we talk to me
46:31
about his feelings? Not he's talking about how he's going? Okay. It's really, really good. So
46:36
this may asking, Are you going to go on another day?
46:39
What's assumed right? Like, I think it's assumed Okay, he's like, if you're dating that he's assuming you were dating from people.
46:49
Any other any other? Any?
46:51
Just keep going. Just Just watch loose lips Janssen over here.
46:57
Anything else you wanted to say on topic covers? Okay, great. Alright. Well, I think another date this week, do you think or maybe? Have you been speaking to people on dams? Yeah,
47:09
a little bit. Oh, that's not I'd like that. I like I'd like you to go on a date. Even if it's not for the show. Just it's for you. This whole thing is for you. Because you hadn't ever done any of this. And now you are doing this. It's pushing you. Your confidence is grind. It's great. Scott. Really proud of you, man.
47:27
So I'll try and work out of it. You need 10 integration, maybe like good. Going forward driving on a date. Thanks to you, then. It seems it forced
47:38
the drone involved in that. Yeah.
47:40
I would love that. If you let me at least have a drone. That would be great. We're edging close to 300.
47:46
Yep. Next week. Next week on Monday, hundredth episode done. Nothing planned. Now. We'll get there. There will be another day. Oh, actually. It's a public holiday that day. In Australia. I don't even know what public holiday Labor Day. Maybe when you run your own business. Yeah. This
48:04
is a bloody public holiday.
48:07
I know that was the joke.
48:10
