Tommy Jackett: [00:00:08] happy fat Friday. Grong so what's happening. What's going on? Uh,
Josh Janssen: [00:00:12] so you have a Quanta,
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:15] what do you think
Josh Janssen: [00:00:16] about, uh, beggar? Uh, it's a, I think it's a jalapeno and cheese. A bagel
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:24] that's
Josh Janssen: [00:00:25] lit, lit your day up. I've been eating, but like, I've been really good on languishes.
Yeah, just a lot of black Banes and eggs and just trying to feel better. And so this is a nice, just on a Friday, like let's not. Make this the whole Friday, like, it doesn't mean I need to have cake
Tommy Jackett: [00:00:45] you my internal dialogue, because I was thinking that this morning I was like, play like TJ. It doesn't have to be the whole day.
You don't have to start not stop, but no, it is good. Maybe it's a new month. Um, today's October two, 2020. Beautiful day here in Melbourne. There's the smell of grass in the air at my place? No, not marijuana. Um, October two trimming
Josh Janssen: [00:01:09] was that two, was it two years ago that we're in New York.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:13] Oh, wow. Hang on. Um, how could I find out?
I could go to my Google.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:18] I didn't even go on. So can I ask Siri? Okay. Um, let's try. I know.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:22] Hey Siri, here we go.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:24] Show me photos from two years ago today. Sure. Here we go.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:28] Hang on two years.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:29] Nope, no result. 22
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:31] years ago today I had, I know that's 20th,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:35] September. This is fucking boring. Isn't it? That's what we buy.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:38] Oh, no, no, no. Hey, September, October.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:41] I was pretty
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:41] sure Zoe. Oh no. Two years. Two years.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:44] Two years ago. Yep.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:46] Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:48] Second, just give us some time at guys. Enjoy whatever you're having for fat Fridays,
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:53] October, his
Josh Janssen: [00:01:53] bag was bright.
Tommy Jackett: [00:01:55] To October, um, Nope. Lost it. Nah, see, I don't know what's going on with my phone. It would have been great.
That's when more October 8th, we were in LA October 3rd. We're in New York.
Josh Janssen: [00:02:11] Yup.
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:11] Tuesday, 2nd of October, 2018. You and I, we did an episode walking along. The, the Highline in New York city, uh, we went to the standard. We have add a cocktail
Josh Janssen: [00:02:26] on the top.
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:28] Yeah. You know, over the Hudson river, we went on a boat with you, Brie and I on in central park.
Josh Janssen: [00:02:38] Oh yeah. And it was a rowboat.
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:41] Yeah. Very good. Very good. As those memories for you, huh?
Josh Janssen: [00:02:46] It was good. It's really, uh, picked me up,
Tommy Jackett: [00:02:49] uh, with this time of day. Well, yeah. Well, um, my dad's over he's he's mowing the grass. It's his job. And he's got an excuse to be able to drive all the way here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The, um, the less anti mask version, you know, Jim was like, nah, don't close this down anyway.
Josh Janssen: [00:03:10] A little bit different from an anti mask to someone who's just like, don't run my business, but you're going,
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:15] they pushed back. You went and you went hard. He went hard. He basically said,
Josh Janssen: [00:03:19] I think he sued the government. Didn't
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:20] you? Yeah. Sorry, Matt. We're not closing. I'm going to take some, take some heroes, not everyone.
Does it make sense?
Josh Janssen: [00:03:27] But don't you think, like if you think about it, you would think that the mowing of lawns. Would be okay, but is this the problem? Once you start opening all this stuff up, it's like, well, hang on. Yeah, I could do this responsibly.
Tommy Jackett: [00:03:42] If you think I'm an idiot for saying that Jim shouldn't have said what he said, like seriously being outdoors and mowing, come on, man.
Like God and like, yeah. Just you're out in the fresh air. It should have been allowed anyway, but it's back open. My lawn is being mowed. My dad offered, which was lovely. So backyard,
Josh Janssen: [00:04:03] big backyard,
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:04] backyard, front yard, ready for a big weekend. And, um, that's been going on, but a bit tired, little bit tired. Um, thanks to the Jonas brothers.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:15] One of the gentlemen, why the Chinese brothers came out of the
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:17] Jonas brothers.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:18] I do know the Jonas brothers. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think one of them did, one of them take Miley Cyrus.
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:25] He was one of them. LA was smiley. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:28] Uh, Demi Lavato Levine. Lavato
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:32] not sure. They're all multimedia.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:34] Who's the one who, uh, had a drug problem in Nevada.
Yeah. Yeah. She had a, um, yeah, she had a documentary. I think he might've been in that.
Tommy Jackett: [00:04:42] Oh yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean they're movers and shakers from, from the Americas and, um, And they've got a documentary on Amazon prime, which is kind of cool. And so I, you know, it's one of those traps year you start watching and then all of a sudden it's 1150 and you're like, yeah, I'm a fucking idiot.
Josh Janssen: [00:05:01] What did you learn about in the documentary? I feel like I've got bagel in my teeth. Can I do some sort of finger thing?
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:08] You know what I do? I do. Um, what did I learn about them? It's a, it's an interesting case. Cause there they were child stars essentially, but they came from a, a, quite a good upbringing.
Father was
Josh Janssen: [00:05:21] super religious, but was he a pastor?
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:24] He was a pastor. Um, and he lived. They live next door to their church. And so these kids grew up just singing in church, you know, being at the front, it looked fun. There was a real community. And then these kids sort of like Nick, the youngest, who is like the leader of the troop, even though he's the youngest, how much would that suck?
Your brother mentioned James. Think like looking down at you, Josh, and you're actually the fucking one leading the vision of
Josh Janssen: [00:05:53] the trouble of that. I know you would, but James
Tommy Jackett: [00:05:58] wouldn't, so
Josh Janssen: [00:05:59] James would hate, that's why we never started the band.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:03] Anyway, they ended up, um, getting kicked out of the church because they saw him with a, uh,
Josh Janssen: [00:06:09] with a record.
So that was quite a conservative. It was a pretty conservative, uh, church. And I'm guessing.
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:16] Yeah. I mean, most if you're in church in your top, I mean, Conservative or not just a, um, you know, the foundations of being a leader of a church, like signing with a non-secular record label because music so like embedded in Christianity and religion, it's like, he.
Well think about like, like
Josh Janssen: [00:06:39] guy Sebastian, like what's like,
Tommy Jackett: [00:06:41] yeah, I mean, he was singing in church, but if you look at Hillsong, they have their own label. Like there's people that are churning out music like heaps and they become super popular through the churches libel. And so they, they weren't something different, but anyway, it's just interesting.
They fucking work their asses off. Like you see them touring when the young and. Just doing small pub gigs. It's like, everyone fucking does start there. And one of the lines is like, these people think we're like, um, you know, just like carbon copy, mop, head, um, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is manufacturing.
The Disney factory South park did a funny skis on them. That's funny. It was hilarious. And so anyway, it in Australia, I feel like they are well known, but they've been more well known in the States. And you just see how the stardom that they had. It was hard work. It's good. It's, it's an interesting Docker.
I don't know. You might like it. It's well-made really well made.
Josh Janssen: [00:07:45] And I remember one of the first times that you and I traveled together what we were doing,
Tommy Jackett: [00:07:49] um, Internationally or did we go to, um,
Josh Janssen: [00:07:56] five sisters?
Tommy Jackett: [00:07:58] Oh, that's right. We flew up to Sydney.
Josh Janssen: [00:08:01] Yeah. And so veggie mite had a, um, uh, brought out five sauce and, uh, yeah, we filmed that whole thing.
That was like, just, it's very funny is that lot of screaming going on.
Tommy Jackett: [00:08:14] Oh, yeah. I mean, you see girls get a, get a, a sort of, you know, there must be some sort of subculture of sort of a WhatsApp group going on, where are they? And then next minute, there's fucking thousands of girls screaming right next to them.
And so yeah, we filmed them. It is weird. I mean, that's, that's this obscure world. Yeah. Well I even,
Josh Janssen: [00:08:39] but they live in the U S now. Hmm, it's interesting. Just saying the, uh, uh, yeah, the different personalities. Like I was watching, um, green day, green day, still, like they perform, they were on, um, Howard stern last year.
And it's just very interesting saying guys in the nineties who were playing the song that they made in the nineties and they've sort of wearing very sort of similar, like they've still got to have that same vibe.
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:10] Oh, yeah. Well, one of the things in the, in the documentary, the train his brothers was, um, imagine, so you've got.
Yo the Kardashians of Australia, James, Jake, Josh. Yep. You're the Janssen, the Jackson brothers.
Josh Janssen: [00:09:25] You have a chance to this. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:26] Imagine like, as you've sort of gone on Josh, you went off to do your own thing and you had some success in it, but then you sort of were still doing your thing with your brothers, but then it got to a point where you didn't really want to do it anymore.
So Josh, you have the conversation. I could imagine. This is actually how your bro, you would come in and say guys, Not, I know you guys are feeling too, but I'm not feeling it. So we're cutting it. Like you're the decision maker. I
think
Josh Janssen: [00:09:49] I'll do sort of a queen with, um,
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:52] you would be the one to lead the decision because you, which is fine, but then imagine this and this all made
Josh Janssen: [00:09:58] at world.
Tommy Jackett: [00:09:59] So if, of course it's fine. Feel it, feel it, feel it I'm feeling.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:03] I don't need to feel it.
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:07] So there's a concept that has to happen and they M and J Josh and Jake decide to do the concert without James Holmes,
Josh Janssen: [00:10:22] play Sunday with you.
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:26] I'm sorry. They did the Jonas brothers did this concert where they were singing all of their songs as the Jonas brothers minus.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:35] In fact, it came down at the oven,
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:38] Kevin.
Josh Janssen: [00:10:39] So what's Kevin feeling. What's Kevin doing? Was he in the, did he, did he know it was happening?
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:44] They have this
Josh Janssen: [00:10:45] say,
Tommy Jackett: [00:10:46] yeah. Yeah. They didn't speak for months, but they had this have this scene in the documentary where they, uh, around the table in a, you know, in a house in Sydney.
And they're playing this sort of drinking card game where they're just being really honest. And then he, one of the it'd be like, um, Jake says to your older brother, James, look, we felt like you were holding his back. That's why we did it.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:09] It's fucking, you are describing strange life. It's very funny.
Yeah. I mean, could you ever do anything with your, um, brothers or family? Could you have a family business? Could you have a fish and chip shop? How do you think you'd go? Ah,
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:26] look, I reckon there's a, Y it was always out for, uh, being on the table of us taking the landscaping business off my father. Um, But, you know, it turned
Josh Janssen: [00:11:37] out she's mowing your lawn.
So clearly, you know,
Tommy Jackett: [00:11:41] he works for me now just in my business. No, I think it's, I think the, the thought of it is great because it's like, think about what you were, you and I have talked about our relationship being like brothers, because with your brother. You, you don't get rid of them because they're your brother.
And so there's shit that they will do that. If there were anyone else you'd act punch, absolutely tell him and tell him to get fucked and never speak to them again. And so business relationship almost needs a version of that. Cause they are pretty intense and there's lots going on lots at stake, but you also need to have the link to them where it's like, I know I fucking hate your guts right this minute, but I don't want you to go anywhere really.
You know, like, I love you. So don't leave
Josh Janssen: [00:12:24] because you can have the strongest feeling of family, of like wanting to punch him. Don't you think there's something he can't like the smell. Like I remember being a kid just like, say like, like when you're younger and you're all sort of like teenagers, you just, it's almost like a, when you say dogs just barking at each, they're not fucking doing it.
It's just like barking because they're near HR. Yeah. I feel like that was where they used to have the biggest punch on site. The holes in the wall where like my brother pushed me in my head, went through and we had, um, I remember once he fucking, I mean, a bit lying, but I was wearing, um, uh, flannelette pajamas and he, he ripped off, uh, my pocket, my chest pocket revealing my breast.
Like in that what's, what's the, uh,
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:17] J-Lo at the bloody Grammys or
Josh Janssen: [00:13:19] something? No, no, no. What was the, what was the big
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:21] one with the
Josh Janssen: [00:13:22] star? She had, she had the star on a nipple on the
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:27] Janet Jackson and Timberlake. Yeah. Jackson and. Janet Jackson. Yeah. Nip slip.
Josh Janssen: [00:13:34] Yeah. No, what was that? What's the super bowl. It wasn't the super bowl.
Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:38] So yeah, it was super bowl. Okay. Look, I don't know the number because I use those fucking Roman numerals. Come on guys. Um,
Josh Janssen: [00:13:46] guys, come on, draw up 20, 20. Not. We're not in Ivy. VV.
Tommy Jackett: [00:13:53] XXX. Yeah. Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. I mean, that's an assault caught on camera. Isn't it?
Josh Janssen: [00:13:59] But I thought surely land, right?
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:02] Oh no, no, no. Janet, just ways styles of it. Nipples like stickers, star stick and show
Josh Janssen: [00:14:08] the, um, But there's, there's been a few of those things, like a Brittany Spears she made out with Madonna. Do you remember that? That was a bit
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:15] that's right. I mean, these, this role, these are all manufactured. Yeah. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:14:19] But do you remember like MTV, like these music video awards where everyone's like watching it at the same time?
Do we have any of that now? I was definitely the debate was definitely, yeah. Everyone was tuning into the debate.
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:32] Everyone's funny. Mames such funny mains going around drinking games for Joe Biden. If he forgets where he is, you have to skull the bottle of light. Oh,
Josh Janssen: [00:14:43] well, Joe Biden has his own. T-shirts shut up, man.
And it's got a picture of Trump. Shut up, man. Shut up, man.
Tommy Jackett: [00:14:51] That was like a brotherly Dubai, like, think about it. Your brother you've got now you've got the most respect, but also the least respect, because you're happy to talk over your brother when you're, you know, you're just barking.
Josh Janssen: [00:15:04] Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:05] And so that had vibes of it turns out they're actually,
Josh Janssen: [00:15:10] yeah, the thing is, though, if you've ever, if you've ever done an actual debate, there's like rules in a debate.
So like, this is the weird thing about the whole thing is it's just like, there was no sense of structure. They just, just talking over it. Like there was so I wonder reef, they tried to put more structure on it actually said like, no, you can't. You can't talk even like turning off the mic until the other person's finished.
Yeah, because it becomes just like derailing thing where it's like, no one looks good. It's just, it's, it's a it's CNN called it a shit show, which is apparently a big deal. Calling something, a shit show on TV in the U S
Tommy Jackett: [00:15:56] I saw something like a headline. Trump took, uh, the debate to the gutter and bottom with Biden with him, somebody like, you know, the dirty fight needs to be played dirty.
And so then Biden's pulled into it, which is a tactic, but I think it's just. How Trump acts that, then, you know, it just goes fucking turns into a shit show, I guess.
Josh Janssen: [00:16:22] How do you feel about, um, so, uh, Mason in grace got me, uh, um, Gullah, uh, baseball glove, and a ball. Would you ever get your own baseball gloves?
So we can have our meetings like throwing the baseball. I'd love
Tommy Jackett: [00:16:37] that. I'd love that there's a little spot near our office. Um, there's a grassy little patch, you know, where we filmed, um, uh,
Josh Janssen: [00:16:46] fix up fix. So it's not big enough. I don't think like I want a bigger space. How far do you want? No, no, no. I think you just want like an oval.
You don't want to act like if you miss something, you don't want it to go through anyone's window. So I think it should be to be more sort of open space. True.
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:02] True. So then we go over to Victoria Park, the old training ground of Collingwood football club back in the day. Um, but then what we're going to have to do is because we're going to get skilled and quite a large right arm throwing arm pitching up, and we'll be quite far back from each other.
We're going to need headsets. So we're going to need radio headsets that allow us to communicate from 40 yards. You know what I mean? And so we can have our meetings and throw the
Josh Janssen: [00:17:29] throw,
Tommy Jackett: [00:17:29] but I liked that. I liked that. I mean, this month is all about movement. Um, the STEM challenge is underway. I think we'll have a full sort of a deep dive on that.
Tomorrow's show with the other groks Jess and Mason, a bit of an update there, but I like it. Love it. And then,
Josh Janssen: [00:17:47] uh, the other thing is just like sports equipment in general. Like, uh, so, uh, Jack posts and I had, uh, been playing like a football, you know, kicking the football. He had like a, um, I still don't know what it's called the, the bowl that they use in NFL.
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:05] Yeah. Gridiron
Josh Janssen: [00:18:05] Gridiron. Is it a Gridiron bowl? Yeah. Yeah. Using that.
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:09] I think you were kicking it
Josh Janssen: [00:18:11] now, the Gridiron will throwing and then I would kick it sometimes. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:15] But like,
Josh Janssen: [00:18:17] yeah, exactly. Yeah. But I do wonder. Uh, I always, uh, looked not look down. That's the wrong word. I always felt like the people who brought sports equipment to a park and weren't my people, like I just ordered it.
It's just like, there's something like overly. Al thera about it, where it's like, yeah, I've went to rebel sport and I got this fucking footy and now I'm in charge. You know,
Tommy Jackett: [00:18:42] meanwhile, you're over there with a Mac book pro and a 1660 inch LCD screen.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:49] No. So, but I think I could be, I've really changed sort of chewing on this.
I think I want to be the sports equipment guy. So. Just like going to a park. Maybe I buy some Frisbees as well, maybe. Uh what's what's the one that you, um, throw in. It makes a noise.
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:08] Vortex
Josh Janssen: [00:19:10] vortex. Haven't seen a vortex in a long time. We'd love to get a vortex. What other, what other sport, if I want to be the sports equipment guy at parks, what other things do I need?
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:20] There's one that I, so it's in the Frisbee realm. It's not as insensitive as buying a, uh, a, um, boomerang. It's like a it's from a Robi, I think. And it looks almost like a Ninja star and, and I think people would be very impressed. Like if someone's sold that that'd be like obscure purchase, but pay that and have fun with it.
Um, definitely, definitely. Definitely. The, this is transferable from park to beach, even though you don't go to the beach.
Josh Janssen: [00:19:51] Yeah. The Velcro bowl game.
Tommy Jackett: [00:19:54] That's fun, but then above that, so that's kids, um, can't remember the name I used to always get it for Christmas, like Velcro ball.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:05] You'd always, after a while the tennis ball would get sort of ripped apart because you're pulling it from the Velcro and you'd have to replace it.
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:13] And so the, the graduation from that is into, um, what the, all the Italians use on the Amalfi coast, watching Conor McGregor. The UFC fighter. He he's living over in off he's super yacht or something recently, but he's just got this footage of these old leathery looking, probably healthy, healthiest shit.
These, all the tabbing guys, it's a ball and bat looks like tennis, but it's like a hard bat and they're just hitting it together. And that's one bace. Get yourself a bace set for sure. Very fun.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:47] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Tommy Jackett: [00:20:49] And I'm like for these cricket, like you get your, your bat ball and stumps. If you rock out with stumps, you're fucking you're into it.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:58] Without the Baton ball,
I was like, man, I brought the stumps who brought the Baton ball.
You need to bring the whole kit. So you almost need a duffle bag. I think I need a pot duffle bag.
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:14] That would be funny. That would be funny
Josh Janssen: [00:21:17] if it wouldn't be fun as well,
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:20] I would find it fun. Cause I'm into this stuff.
Josh Janssen: [00:21:22] Why don't we do like a, a team sports rank sort of thing each week where we all meet somewhere and we like kick the footie around and we do different like PA sort of stuff.
Tommy Jackett: [00:21:36] Well, I would be happy to invest through the business. Couple of hundred G for a bat. We don't even need to buy the bag. I'll provide the bag, but just getting some Frisbees, some vortex's 40, um, some of those hand bats. Yeah,
Josh Janssen: [00:21:53] like the daily talk show, like getting one item that we can get for the daily talk show, like printed on it.
What's something good. So it needs to be sort of inexpensive. Um, free speech and I feel like could be it
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:08] Frisbee, man.
Josh Janssen: [00:22:08] Yo yo could be good, but yo-yos aren't is that fun for parks?
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:13] Alright. Frisbee's a great, you know, you know, my affinity for Frisbee and so I would love. The
Josh Janssen: [00:22:20] daily daily talk show Frisbee, because it's a great marketing tool, because if you're, if it goes to a fan site, someone grabs, it's like, Oh shit, what's this,
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:28] you can get promotional Frisbees, right?
Josh Janssen: [00:22:32] What's the cost. What's the unit cost.
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:34] I reckon that'd be it at the $4 $6 Mark. But the problem is.
Josh Janssen: [00:22:39] Can we do them for Gronk? Like a
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:41] no good. They're no good. At that point, I'd rather purchase a more expensive one and put our sticker over it.
Josh Janssen: [00:22:48] But the home McGee shoe that we had where it's like, you want a good mug people, aren't going to pay 70 bucks for a month.
Tommy Jackett: [00:22:54] Look, I reckon what we could do is get a, so coming into the summer months in Australia, we have a bag. So we actually get a bunch of equipment and we have a bag and as a team, because we've got like, you know, five, six people now,
Josh Janssen: [00:23:09] but I just want to start, have a clean bag. I don't want it to get, cause I can see this getting messy already and people losing shit, not knowing like, you know, that I was the kid.
Who managed all the sports equipment in year six and we had a whole tag system. So we just need to work out how we can do it,
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:25] not mind to duties, how many items in the bag. And at the end of the session, we have to count them as we put them back in. Right. And so, or I can 10 items, basketball,
Josh Janssen: [00:23:35] soccer, bowl,
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:37] football, Gridiron, Frisbee, um,
Josh Janssen: [00:23:42] uh, rice bowl, gloves to everyone
Tommy Jackett: [00:23:44] yet.

Josh Janssen: [00:23:50] we're good. This is good. Okay. Alright. Right. If you, uh, if you have a sport that you think that we should play in the park. All right. The daily talk show.com. Remember I spoke about Gronk Olympics. Maybe we could do that.
Tommy Jackett: [00:24:01] Yeah, I like this.
