It's the daily Talk Show Episode 537. What's happening guys? What's going on? It's Thursday, I'm feeling a bit tired because last night I ended up in a rabbit hole involved Harry on telly.
0:18
I checked my phone before bed, he buys it about 10 after I've meditated, which is a dumb thing to do, because you're in a nice place, and then I checked it and I'm glad I did because I saw young Harold, Tara, your phone that
0:32
just my hairy work experience, Harry night. We have a star amongst us because we didn't realise so when you'd been saying about the telly and that you'd been on the telly and all this sort of thing. I thought okay. He's been an extra in a in a TV show or something like that. But then the link that you sent me to I view you were a whole title of a seat like there was a series called teenage boss and there's a whole episode
1:00
I just called Harry
1:03
Can you confirm that confirmed? Yeah. Well, I thought it was a the Mako been guy Stein. And the stadia had coached him so well that he'd gone out and put himself out there within the couple of days of it happening. And now he's on a TV show. Or it's all footage. So you were at all happened is an accident. That whole show, really. So I came across it on TV TV tonight, that the ABC was doing these random. It was TV tonight. It's a TV blog. And they've got all the latest gossip with the pineapple logo. Yeah, another reason he's an old song. Yeah, just writing
1:41
you all that's like radio today. Do you watch ready? D right. Ready. I don't care about radio.
1:47
tv. Yeah, so it's already news. Just remember otoscope meeting TV show? signed up to it because it didn't have a name or anything? No, I just thought it will be lucky. Lucky student programme
2:00
Yet to something, because it sounds it was recent as he feels like a university student project. So I signed up for and then next thing you know, it's on the IVC. And did you and did you? I mean, how many people were filming? How many people were there? Because it was quite high production. There was a crew of see.
2:21
Mom and Dad side
2:24
salad into mom and dad. Well, I actually filled out the application with my school I bear in.
2:32
And then Friends of the Library. Yeah. What's your thoughts on the friendships of with teachers? We were speaking to layer about it. Well, I think in rural areas, it has to happen because like, I know my teacher, majority of my teachers socially at his school as well. So what did I do? Like what do you mean socially, like three seater or three, the football club or all that stuff? It's real community. VODs. And so anyway, so you librarian and you filled out this? Yeah. And then Oh, sure. Oh, and then
3:00
Today I filled out an application for sharp.
3:04
Okay. Few weeks later, we got a call from McAfee media in Sydney saying you've been successful in your application today. Can we send the crew down? Yeah. cried and next thing you know, we're and did you know what it was actually going to be about? Like I had a rough idea. So it wasn't too I had a rough idea but I wasn't too sure about the whole the hell it was all going to happen. Did you get Final Cut?
3:29
So what was the deal? Yeah. So what did you know and then explain the actual concept. So I had to take over the family budget for a month and run all our expenses for the month.
3:43
And they had a guy she
3:47
did you get a bit silly? No, no she documents every day that way the money's going.
3:56
Where you putting it 97 asked the money, money.
4:00
Were you spending it in the budget? Oh, wait towards my new camera and I was like cutting down on him and groceries and combine the fridge was getting empty and so you could get the camera.
4:10
So did you get to keep the camera? No, I haven't bought it yet. I've still got the money in my bank. Oh, that's good, how much cash did they give you in a budget and they hadn't financial advisor and she went through all their monthly bills like six months before it happened to the bills six months prior. And so she went through all them and worked out that we spend 3000 and something dollars so then they took it a month a month. Yeah. So then they gave us $3,000 that I could use Okay great. That's great. And so was it. You're getting paid for the shower? That's the sort of at the end you get that much the end we get them and was that a short before you start? Yeah, so I should have done 10 grand amount
4:54
to save the money was you get to keep it these key. Craft is fact like
5:00
I mean, you've ended up here. I said on the you know, Harry shouldn't for this style. Yeah, land
5:08
talk show so what was the
5:11
How long was the period that they'll filming a month? A month? It was they sent a crew down from Sydney every weekend to spend the weekend with this and follow us around.
5:22
What did you What did your parents think was the arguments around like this is all too much? Like for me even not the financial stress bit but just the fucking Harry. What have you done? Why they always want to do it? Yeah.
5:36
I'm not paying enough. He ended up he was grass or did he loved it?
5:43
produces Come on, we gotta get going. We gotta get going. That's good. Yeah, it's a true story.
5:50
And so what did you take away from that whole experience?
5:54
I think I'm not too sure.
5:58
I've got a lot from it.
6:00
Lots of it was lots of they organised a lot until luck. So the same filming the
6:10
the fishing, fishing local fishing competition. The producer calls up at three days earlier. And she goes, Harry, do you know about the fishing competition in the local tanika? Yeah, you guys will have spoken to the committee and move arrange for you to be filming it.
6:25
gryce so then I had to go and shoot this thing. That's fun. I mean, there's a lot of magic and TV. And and when you're, when you're amongst it, it doesn't feel that magical, because you're seeing all of it. But I think that's the beauty of it. Yeah. The smoking mirrors. And so you were talking yesterday about the cat cafe because you're producing this for us Fridays? That didn't work out. What did what were the secondary or third options? Well, lately, a guy has a gingerbread house. She did yeah.
7:00
Walk it yeah so we could do that tomorrow when I'm you know I first got together and you know you're really trying to while the early days got yeah
7:10
maybe she could though she could it's very messy though
7:20
the cause in my name is that none of the debts in
7:24
the car is in your name so that's not knowing because debt is
7:29
we're not going anywhere but maybe this is why we're so strong now. We got that news always like oh we should make stuff and we did the kid of making a gingerbread hot house but she does craft and loves it and loves it she's so good at it and so get into the crowd to to craft an audience together. Now sometimes I do my thing but it's not I don't She just loves the painting and you know, it's being creative and had a made over recently the crafting own you know, that I benefited from that was
8:01
lollies chakra. I said Does anyone want tea and chocolate and we had chocolate and it was a great excuse to the chocolate to get stuck into it
8:12
to the three o'clock
8:17
that
8:18
afternoon is Yeah, it's good. It's great. Anyway, so that was lovely. It's a great bonding exercise around Christmas time. I tell you what, guys, fact there's either a business in it or there's no there's not one of the two.
8:33
So What's the date today the fifth, fourth, fifth and fifth
8:40
bondings Kmart target. All the big fucking brands run out of Christmas tree holders. So the bottom of the base where do you know we went yesterday we went to earnings because we go to trade last night and real one real was the first time cut delivered
9:00
Oh yeah. And I'm so you on that.
9:04
You will like that will find it to do with it. We did find it cheaper. But in hindsight, it's $60 for them to give it to you. You can buy them from Bunnings for like 20 something bucks. Sure, boss. You can't do it you can't leave it this light because they're all and then the Bunnings person found two places in Victoria one was in Aubrey actually, the other was fucking in Toronto so far away for this thing. And then she checked the other places came out and stuff with Amy to say lovely and nowhere and so then we jumped on Gumtree and found a place of Facebook marketplace, found a guy flogging one for $39 I don't know why I went 30 940 40 only got 40 because we're not 60 at Bunnings or something. See $60 to get it delivered with the tray. And then we ended so the the point being is, this is why you end up like if you're being super tight on shit won't pay the premium
10:00
So, by the time you end up driving to Ringwood at 8pm this is cam share cam Shannon was talking about this. So when we had scripted Derek on, scripted, Derek was talking about Harvey Norman and he's up to I don't know if you saw the Insta story yesterday. He's done a whole video slamming Harvey Norman calls him ob Moshi with Logitech but wouldn't you be more shooting with Logitech or some speaker problem he bought a speaker
10:27
webcam so he bought a webcam Katie's a camera Yep. And he basically it wasn't working he spoke to Logitech are really helpful they're like yes, it's faulty
10:39
will send you out a new one. Just fill out this form fills out the form. They're like are you're in Australia didn't know that kind of help you gonna have to go to where you bought it from. He went to he bought it from Harvey Norman online. He's like to make it easy. I'm going to just take it into Harvey Norman takes it in they say sorry. It was online weekend.
11:00
do anything with it, you push back and lots of things that not sorry, nothing we can do. He goes home goes online says hey, I want to return this thing yet Wait a moment and then they said you're gonna have to take it in store. So they're just playing tennis just back back. So he mentioned my favourite thing which is the Ombudsman.
11:20
The ombudsman, is that like it's what's that old term? Is that was it like a guide? the Ombudsman, man mom has been like, is it what's the what's the, but it used to be a person. What's the definition of an ombudsman? Like maybe we'll find out like it was like, back in 1700. It wasn't gronk who love to but anyway so there was that but can shed was telling us he he went into a I think was a Harvey Norman as well. And he wanted to do a price match. And he said are this store has it for X amount cheaper, will you price match? And the guy from Harvey Norman was like, Look, it's going to cost you 50 bucks in petrol to get there.
12:00
Back home. So surely we got to account for that. Which I thought was a little like rageous Is it the policy for the price match like office works out good say that to your office works. Office works price match policies like the best Yeah. And then JB hi fi is great. Are you guys high fives okay? They have like a limit that they won't go below whereas office works will match anything is that like the JV deal thing? Now they can just price match it drives and she just literally search when you're in there just be in the aisle just searching local and then you just take it up and they like swipe because we're that one would argue is walking to JB hi fi and say Can you do a better deal with JB deal? And they just knock a few dollars? JB do a JV deal?
12:45
Your product at that point or you just walked in like I've got a Western Digital passport for life? 15 bucks off? Yeah, yeah, I got $30 off the Western Digital stuff. It was ridiculous. Me I was messaging nice. What did you get off Josh?
13:00
For now he's too he wouldn't ask is too embarrassed, no idea actually some the Apple TV that I bought a couple of weeks ago at the counter. I would like laughing I was like, I can't do any better. It's great. Yeah, he took like 15 bucks off. People don't don't ask. So you know, they're so primed for it. Of course now as I will just bullshitting that the process I think, Mr. 97, what's an ombudsman?
13:25
Hang on, give me a sec, an official appointed to investigate complaints by individuals against institutions or authorities. Okay, so this is shitloads of Ombudsman's.
13:34
Well,
13:36
back in the day they would have been and now they've just made it into a whole like collectives, I triple say is that right? I think so. But I'm not sure I don't know if because you can have you can have, you can have them feel like work
13:50
on but yeah, sure.
13:53
So you probably have like different ones, but yeah, maybe for the consumer consumer
13:58
or innocent for the internet.
14:00
No viewers or listeners there is you said the spit just in flying.
14:05
The Australian law is very good for the consumer. So if you go to Apple so for instance are made, told gronk page Shepherd, he's AirPods haven't been working properly. He's microphone. Why are you laughing at Nothing? Nothing, nothing. Again any
14:23
distract is slightly distracting. That's okay. So anyway, Pete went to the Apple Store and they said art so it's um it's been over a year, but within Consumer Law it's still valid under warranty. And so we'll just replace them wasn't a problem. Yeah, I mean you gotta you gotta be in the know don't you? Will you they actually need to buy right like right let you know like so they have pamphlets and stuff like if you go to an apple store, they'll have all of those things doubted cam Shan tell that guy to go. Yeah. Thank you
15:00
Much should have got the discount. Did you get the discount? In the end? I will have to ask. Yeah, I mean, it's also the the thought that the people working at these businesses, why do they care? Yeah, I mean, where where it has what happens like the apple stuff is just I'm in this line. I don't know much about any other line but mine so I can't help you. So this is like, less information. They don't have to lie. You don't want your staff line. You just want them actually unaware of how it even works outside of what I know. So if anyone asked me to 97 he doesn't know any
15:36
of the money. Well, yeah, especially even like when you go to the ones where they've got they're wearing like the Microsoft. polos on or the Samsung polos and if it was a bit weird going up and saying ID Can you help us with the iPhone? It's a bit like the I guess the my or David Jones models a little bit like that. Maybe they have like their Estee Lauder or whatever. They don't even work. They're working for the Lord and within the business.
16:00
Have you worked any jobs? Harry? No, you haven't. Haven't got a Mac as job or not a lot of regional towns where he'll mean like filming football games up. That's my only other job. Just a little serial entrepreneur. Just getting out there. That's what I appreciate about you. Well, dad wanted me get a job better they trickle in, but I couldn't think of anything.
16:21
Better electrical. Just Selfridges. Oh, so just fridges Yeah.
16:27
Harvey Norman Pam better or worse than Harvey Norman worse than having normal because having known Scott furniture and smells nice. Doesn't always smells nice.
16:37
I've never considered Have you ever gone for a job? No. Okay. Done a CV? Yeah, he gave us a CV, didn't you? I think so. Okay. What kind of a interview he you? What do you mean by that? What do you bring? You know, you had an interview earlier this week is what
16:57
can remember RMIT what's
17:00
What's the vibe? What are you bringing? What are you thinking? Like I think a lot of energy yeah what Harry do we see my goal at a coffee shop? confident like not to convert a bit you like?
17:12
Lucky?
17:14
Yes. Just wowing the room.
17:16
Yeah, well the people that are my tailor very relaxed and and i think that made it easier to ask questions. Yeah, I tried to I even asked a question that I knew the answer to because I want to say like always the case you know what, you know what it was? It was the date that we started
17:38
they gave me I realised on the frequently asked questions shape that they gave me before I introduce on there
17:45
that's fine. Yeah, what did nice. Did you have any jobs growing up or no, no, nothing nothing. Wow, you guys missed it. Like I didn't McDonald's only for three months. But the whole experience of just something very
18:00
We entering like a Mac isn't like you dealing with like a top dog there. Yeah, the manager or whatever. And they really like it's sort of a strange environment that's that's having very jobs because you realise that the high powered job to see this shit that's going down is exactly the same that's happening at cotton on baby
18:22
what what do you say that just like the opposite so if you're going like high end corporate financial sector versus retail baby clothes, it's like the the pain points and you know, this person is not showing enough commitment to the store and rearrange your like, this person's not committing to this person's million dollar fund. It's like, same problem you can think one's a bit higher than the other, but no the same fucking shit. Now we're going slow. I was slowly people being passier people are not talking to each other. It's fucking no different. We're all just being babies. What have you What have you learned? Like yesterday, we asked you sort of
19:00
To
19:01
give you the learning and you sort of pick the last thing, not picking that as you're learning what have you learned in the last last week?
19:11
Yeah. Trust what you're doing right. Would you learn that from time? Where did you learn that from Michael Ben? stone confident? Yeah. Michael bungay stanier Oh, yeah, that's good.
19:25
Michael bungay stanier very close. So that's good.
19:31
Anything else?
19:33
There's a bit
19:35
um, what do you think people wouldn't know? Like you're getting a behind the scenes look? Yeah. What are we like? day to day what all a surprise a bad camera doesn't wear CRAN 24. Seven.
19:47
That's a big surprise. We should try and get Jennifer in to make before.
19:53
What else? Anything within the Office like how do you describe the viewer to paint a picture for people? What's it like?
20:00
Lots of yelling.
20:02
Is that true?
20:06
Yeah, yeah, I mean we're across multiple levels so there has to be some of that. We probably could use slack more I was thinking that tonight or Linda calm it means to be like any old school. No I think yes. You're right you're going to be in it
20:21
everyone's gonna be in it is using it Yeah. Anything else Harry third and final thought for that. lagari sinese and straight
20:31
Really? Yeah, look at that the other day Have you checked? Well, I was looking at the No no no. level but the sign isn't level in the V fine. I think it's just because of the way the the Woody's I think the darker and lighter would he's actually playing a bit of a Was that your phone? not lucky.
20:50
Yeah. Okay. Good night. You're always thinking about that. So as you've been teaching Mr. 97 a bunch of things ever. Yeah. What the type on the ground was that spike.
21:00
bump in bump out you have been bandied about pumping bumpin Yeah, I mean these are all just old school traditional terms for which still get you still get used that would have gone over Mr. Evans head because he he doesn't need to use this shit. Right if you packed up not the guy just packing up and so we talked about perfect days a fair bit. We've also mentioned what our perfect day is. You're going to have some big changes next year, potentially moving to Melbourne. What do you think your perfect day is? Working at the early more time? Um, well when I stay in town awake it's it's weird because when I the stay at the farm I sleeping? Yeah, we're not saying tan Oh, I completely. So we're not saying Tanner wake up at 630 and a lot getting up at 630 and then and then going for a walk. But I don't do that lightly because I've got shitty shoes. So soon as you got these ones I was going for the local they're good but
22:00
look good. They're all right.
22:02
They're not very comfortable though. Okay, let's see. So yeah, you walk but not that much nothing What else? So this is the perfect day, perfect day do emails when I used to go to school I used to get at school, check my emails and go to class.
22:20
Lot class started at 10 to nine. So I'll get there at 830 that 20 minutes to a mouse
22:32
emails throughout school, when did you send your first email tips? What easiest thing? What What grade? It would not it would have been like
22:43
it wouldn't have been in school it would have been signing up for like Minecraft or something like that gmail account and sign up so fairly early. I mean, people are getting on me directly. What was that you got one.
22:53
Send your first female hip hop underscore 123 i think@hotmail.com. What was the first email you sent out?
23:00
I can't remember that kind of stuff like I am. But it was definitely to sign up for your missing and all that shit my mind by 1998 Yeah. So how did you say? It was? I was eight years old.
23:14
fairly early. Yeah, but it was, um, my teacher, Mr. Danson had left. But he given the email address or whatever, I remember sending him an email. And it would have been like two or two years after prep, which was 1996 a, it would be 1998. But I don't think I had my own hotmail that I don't even know if it was find out when Hotmail, Kmart and hotmail would have been around 98 it got bought by Microsoft, you
23:44
think that was potentially a little bit like do you think do you think old email addresses will come back in like the
23:53
like the iOS files and stuff? Yeah, even the hotmail one happy. I'll see that I was a mallinckrodt
24:00
One today and I have a yahoo I was like what was that life like? Well I said on the phone
24:07
to a woman that we're doing some filming with I said I so it's just your your iCloud email. Is that right? Because I was just confirming Yeah. And it's just a call. Yeah. People say, Do you use iCloud email? I've never heard of that. Like it because at one point people were using amy@icloud.com. That was a Mac and Mac. Yeah, that was true. Jesus really does my first email that nobody I mean, so many people are now just getting the name Tommy. Tommy jacket. That's it. I know a lot. I feel like within the entertainment industry, a lot of people have the at Mac or at me or at iCloud. I like knowing now what famous people's emails are, like, what are they doing? Are they bearing the later like Gary Vaynerchuk gave his email address out
25:00
at that conference
25:02
it's a different it's almost like his trading it like an address. Everyone knows where he's offices, everyone could send the mail. And so you just do it like that. And then it just just be like, Harry, I can spend 20 minutes before school.
25:17
You know, I've had moments in my life Harry, where I've sent an email that's changed a lot for me in terms of the connection or you know, opportunity that's come from it. Is there any that you've sent cold emails that have actually shifted? what you've been up to what you're thinking? Yeah. Oh, Peter, which now is a big run. So cold email, just educate his address. He gave it to me via Facebook, right? Hey, can you get that off him slowly serves and actually email him.
25:47
Who else?
25:50
With the teenage boss filming, I got the block that that changed my life. Big time just seeing that production of a TV show and it sort of confirmed what I wanted to do with my life. Do I have a floor manager
26:00
You're on something like that they wouldn't, would they? Because it's all like for managers studio? Yeah. Do you think so natural networking? I think people, some people are more of the natural networker looking to see how they can connect up. You know they're seeing ahead the plays and some people just don't go near it because they're like, I don't want to annoy the people in my bedrooms like this crime movie sweet through the string. Do you really know? I could believe that. When did hotmail start? Did you work it out? 1996 Okay, shit. Yeah, this has been around for a very long time. So, tomorrow night, Friday night. We got out. We go to NGV. What is it called? What's the event called at National Gallery? Victoria? I don't not sure.
26:49
So NGO National Gallery, Victoria, but there's an event that's on that we're attending and we will know the name of it. Definitely. But it's not the point. I mean, you always throw out the things we don't know.
27:00
For us to answer on the show, you always do it. The one thing that I know for sure is that you don't necessarily have the attire to attend one of the most. Yeah, what is they just art galleries in the in Australia, so we're going to pray about this last night. What do I said we were on a conference call yesterday. They said dress up or something? Well, I think that we're just hinting it's like, don't worry. It's an art gallery, guys. Yeah, sure. What are you going to do? You know, I've got like my white linen shirt. I got a shirt. I've never seen you in a white linen shirt. Yeah, I don't think I've seen you in a shirt. I used to wear shirts a lot. jacket chequered shirt. You've the white linen. One was for the white party that I went to that time where I bought the white shoes. So I'm thinking potentially because Bray was like you probably the shoes make a big difference. And so I don't know if I can wear my ASICs.
27:59
So I'm going to have
28:00
To wear my white shoes and so just accept the fact that I'll be back and have a sore back the next day.
28:09
chinos
28:11
and then the white linen shirt. Hello look good. What are you going to wear? Yeah, just wear some kind of shirt and chinos and I've got these shoes you know when you get those trusty pair of shoes they've had for a very long time like like actually we bought them for my brother's wedding when that was the year that I'm Amy so I I pulled them out Jules land pulls them out it was all a bridal party was wearing the shoes and so actually didn't what I could wear off fuck it now I didn't need to wear the shirt not so I think I'll just wear my onesy
28:44
onesy A wear my long sleeve black shirt, just like not not a collared shirt but just the sort of Steve Jobs
28:53
and James and runners now I was gonna say chinos chinos Yeah, yeah. I don't know if I can wear right
29:00
We run this kind of way Asterix into the
29:02
gallery Yeah, you can fuck it. I'm sure like definitely Jerry Seinfeld loose. The NGV is pretty let's let's think about like, travelling or whatever you're wearing like comfy clothes going to museums and art galleries and all that so they are Why did I overcomplicate? That's a better idea I think I'll feel more comfortable. The white linen shirt slightly see through it so I don't like that. Well you sort of say the definition because you're wearing pants Exactly. You see? No areolas I'm sorry. No, it's the the nipple I would shy you ready areas probably be okay. I'm just googling But anyway, the
29:43
please. What's up face? No. Just disappointed.
29:47

Let's just say the last six months have been a big one of growth and self development for me. Even though I'm not meant to sing the praises of therapy, I must say it has helped me a lot. I believe everyone should get therapy ago, but not everyone vibes with it. Cutting out alcohol, coffee and fast food for four months now has been a bit of a wake up to my system, allowing my brain to be exposed to the good, the bad and the ugly, but being able to work through it with kindness and care. Two things I didn't do well before. I've never had a problem per se but the habits were not serving all the time.
