EP 1007
George Martin: [00:00:00] Very low barrier to get into the growing squad.
Josh Janssen: [00:00:07] We've committed to do the daily talk show for 10 years. I had guys
George Martin: [00:00:11] put it in the calendar.
Josh Janssen: [00:00:12] I just like to check the temperature in the room. I told you my squeegee story.
It's the daily talk show episode 1007. That's George Clark. And, uh, Jess is here as well. She's off, off camera
George Martin: [00:00:28] today. Uh, I'm filling in for Tommy again. Yeah. Good, good. Um, good on him for going home.
Josh Janssen: [00:00:35] Yes. Uh, you, uh, you both people that would struggle to take it.
George Martin: [00:00:41] Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I think like, yeah, it's not good.
Is it, I mean, last year we're in and out of sickness all the time in amount of lockdowns this year, having a bit of a sniff on like,
Josh Janssen: [00:00:52] Oh, she did it. What is it? How many sick days Jess, have you taken, do you
Jess Lucas: [00:00:56] think I've taken two in my entire
George Martin: [00:00:58] life? Really? Yeah, I reckon. Yeah, probably one. Just so I can bait
Josh Janssen: [00:01:03] Jess by one, but do you think so, I mean, it's a, is it admirable?
I don't know. I've definitely taken a lot of seats. I, if I was feeling really terrible and I didn't feel like I was. My optimum. I'll take a day. Yeah.
George Martin: [00:01:19] I mean, you've got them,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:21] so yeah, I've definitely wasn't that vibe, you know, there's like people it's like, well, I've got 20 year. I've got a UMass. Every single one.
They treat them like annual leave. Yeah. No,
George Martin: [00:01:31] I've never done that. I've never actually, uh, pre chucked one sicky in my time.
Josh Janssen: [00:01:36] What'd you do
George Martin: [00:01:37] actually came here. It was last year. That's right. Uh, sorry to my old, company's not listening. Um, And I came here and did what for you guys? I chucked a sickie for them. I it's not gonna work for you,
Josh Janssen: [00:01:51] Tommy.
George Martin: [00:01:53] He said, if you, if you want to come in, there's a word for it. Just a little video. I couldn't remember. I can't remember what it was, but it was. Yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:02:01] And did we pay you?
George Martin: [00:02:03] Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I made bank that day,
Josh Janssen: [00:02:05] Jesse. I mean, we don't have a camera on Jess, but the way that you'll using the microphone right now, like you've gotten very comfortable.
It's quite, Hanzy, you're holding. You're using both hands on the Mike. Yeah. Like you're about to sing a belter.
George Martin: [00:02:20] We could be on the voice right now and you were just getting ready.
Josh Janssen: [00:02:23] There was a little annoying sort of sound that it's making. So this really, can you hear that? Oh, it's not good. Uh, have you ever been a singer?
Jess?
Jess Lucas: [00:02:34] You've had my voice.
Josh Janssen: [00:02:36] Not really. She belts it out. Yeah. You
George Martin: [00:02:38] belt it out. It thin quite a bit in the
Josh Janssen: [00:02:39] office. Yeah. George, have you been a singer? No, but I
George Martin: [00:02:42] always would like to. Yeah. That's that's a goal. You start now. Yeah. Okay. What do you want to hear? Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:02:51] Billie Eilish track. That's too hard. The hard thing is I couldn't think of any song.
Like if you said sing a song. Yeah. Wouldn't know the words, but if I had the music behind me, yeah. A lot easier.
George Martin: [00:03:02] All right. Grace lightning. No,
Jess Lucas: [00:03:04] no, you can't be picky.
George Martin: [00:03:07] It's just not, that's not in my range. Macy gray. Oh, yeah. Give me what's what's this, that trad
Jess Lucas: [00:03:13] say,
George Martin: [00:03:14] okay, try that. Try to say good. Now it's a bit, it's not in my range either.
What
Jess Lucas: [00:03:19] is it? How about you? Give us a few options.
George Martin: [00:03:23] Try to walk away and a stone, but I mean, it's kind of
Jess Lucas: [00:03:27] is Jimmy bonds more in your range, screeching?
George Martin: [00:03:30] Um, um, what
Josh Janssen: [00:03:32] do you think, what do you think about a, uh, Just the, no more touching on the deck because you've got the microphone that's like with a desk Mount and pick up on more nights.
Yeah. Yeah. Fidget spinners. They were a real thing for a while there. Yeah. Never had one. Um, Oh no. What I was going to say is around karaoke. Um, I actually did karaoke when I worked at Fox FM, uh, triple Lam and Fox. The digital team did a sort of a evening out and we did karaoke.
George Martin: [00:04:04] Was it in one
Josh Janssen: [00:04:05] of those private roads?
What is just laughing? Do I still have a sidebar on my lips?
Jess Lucas: [00:04:12] I was just going, I was just scratching using the microphone. Then he looked at me for sweet sake. And you didn't notice?
George Martin: [00:04:25] Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:04:25] Okay. Yeah, you're done to it and she's still doing it. Yeah. Um, So
George Martin: [00:04:29] was the carrier in one of those private rooms or was it really? Yeah. Okay. So not in like a public bar where everyone could watch, Oh my God,
Josh Janssen: [00:04:37] you okay? You all good? I can't to pass out the, um, no, like doing activities. I spoke yesterday about, um, Uh, golf and whether that would be a good perk as a business, getting a golf membership.
Um, we should, we've decided no to that instead. We're getting, um, I can kind of announce this now we're getting, um, fetch. For the business. That's great.
Jess Lucas: [00:05:05] It's not a perk. You got that as part of your internet
Josh Janssen: [00:05:09] and you can, you can watch ESPN, you can
Jess Lucas: [00:05:11] watch it getting an extra chicken nugget and be like, guys, I got you some chicken nuggets in my Mac.
His daughter
Josh Janssen: [00:05:17] and fetch is like, Foxtel. Did you have Foxtel as a kid?
Jess Lucas: [00:05:21] When are we going to be able to watch Foxtel
Josh Janssen: [00:05:23] at work? Just having the news on MSNBC what's happening? Is that what you, we finance. Get, we will get that. Yeah. With the $14 package, we can get the whole lot. That's
George Martin: [00:05:33] great. Um, are we gonna put it on the TV?
Yeah. Downstairs. Yeah,
Josh Janssen: [00:05:39] no, you've been sitting there a lot on the couch working, so I think it could be, it's just good sort of ambient remote sound. Yes. You get a whole box as cool. Get all the channels. It's the mighty one too, was the good one that is good. People would pay good money for many channels. So I think we get 16.
Included. And
George Martin: [00:06:00] so what is it like sports
Josh Janssen: [00:06:02] news, MTV, ESPN. Um, we don't, and so we, they do the whole first month you get everything and then we will watch everything and then we'll say what we just need all of it. And so we'll pay the extra $14 and we'll have it all at $14 a month extra, if you want everything, which is not that, you know, that's one coffee run, so surely we can do it.
Right?
George Martin: [00:06:25] Yeah. Well, that's exciting. So that's a perk for the business coming up. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I got nothing to add.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:35] I actually, in that moment I was like, okay, I better say something. And then I thought, you know what, maybe George has something and this is, we
George Martin: [00:06:41] got Kao as well, which we need to hook up. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:44] Do you watch care?
Yeah. I'm watching it a bit. LPG. PGA. Yeah. I've
George Martin: [00:06:50] been using your cannabis.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:53] Hmm. All right. I will page LPG
George Martin: [00:06:56] that AGL, that LPJ LPG.
Josh Janssen: [00:06:59] Have you guys ever had gas? You've never owned a car, have you
George Martin: [00:07:03] not? No, not like in my name. That's my mom's name.
Josh Janssen: [00:07:08] So, yeah. So what happened? So have you got your license? You do. Yeah, of course you drive the other day.
So when you turned 18, is that when you got your license?
George Martin: [00:07:18] 17, 17. I got my pace. Did the test drive to school that day with
the
Josh Janssen: [00:07:24] windows down? So did mom get you a car or how
George Martin: [00:07:26] did you manage to use mom's car Citra and C3?
Josh Janssen: [00:07:29] So you turn, what brand is Citron? Is that the actual,
George Martin: [00:07:33] yeah. Yeah. It's like a French
Josh Janssen: [00:07:39] France. Your first, your first car?
Jess Lucas: [00:07:42] Um, I had a Mazda two. Oh
Josh Janssen: [00:07:45] yeah. You're not, you don't do manual now. No, it seems unnecessary. Doesn't it? You can't
George Martin: [00:07:51] drive manual. Can you?
Josh Janssen: [00:07:52] I can, yeah. I'm actually very good at manual
George Martin: [00:07:57] drag race. That's true.
Josh Janssen: [00:07:59] Motor sports is in my family. There's not drive manual. They can all drive manually.
Yeah. Yeah. We
George Martin: [00:08:07] learned manual and manual manual thrown through love training manuals.
Jess Lucas: [00:08:12] Totally fun for a little bit. And then you get sick of that when you're stuck in traffic and you have to let your foot off the
Josh Janssen: [00:08:18] clutch. I could definitely be the guy who has an auto, but still uses the Tiptronic the man.
Is that the like tapping it to change gears? Yeah, but my dad used to turn off traction control. Um, when we're at the lights, what's that mean it would sort of, it would stop the wheels from spinning, but if you were going for, if you're taking off quickly, You actually didn't want traction control. Cause it would sort of would make sort of a drag racing experience fun.
And he used the drag
George Martin: [00:08:50] of the lights. Yeah. That was sort of famously. Yes. Yeah, yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:08:55] Yes. That's what I said. I saw, they used to say. Yeah. But um, I mean, I haven't been to the drags in a long time. I've never been, I think that could be a fun, great experience. Do they even do that? So it used to be called a park Raceway.
I think, um, Heath kit, we could go out in the sticks. Did you say that video?
George Martin: [00:09:15] Heath
Josh Janssen: [00:09:15] kit? That's
George Martin: [00:09:17] good.
Josh Janssen: [00:09:19] How, like how long was it? Oh, that's great to know. Would you, I feel like you could get into the drags.
Jess Lucas: [00:09:27] I grew up with, um, car racing and stuff. Cause my dad and pop used to race. No, um, cars. Yeah. W what sort of cars?
I don't know. It's a quarter Turner. Yeah. Do you
Josh Janssen: [00:09:39] know what that is? Are they like the ones that sort of have, like, it sort of, it almost looks like a, um, a marquee on wheels
George Martin: [00:09:48] now, a moat?
Jess Lucas: [00:09:49] No, it's looks like, it looks like a car, but it has one side is blocked off for the passenger and, um, and then the other one is like, where it's all open.
Obviously. Dad's just chilling in there. You show me a
Josh Janssen: [00:10:01] photo. Yes. Okay. That's cool. And so work activities you were saying Jesse wanted to do. Something like freight, uh, for you to frayed or, sorry, sorry. Freight to feed, which is like a, um, uh, you learn how to cook. Uh, yeah. So all the team, because we did a golf the other day and Jess, you weren't really into that.
So the next thing we do as a office, I want it to be something that Jess is really excited about. Can you give me some other options, Jess?
Jess Lucas: [00:10:36] Um, I dunno, what do you reckon GB? Anything
Josh Janssen: [00:10:40] that you'd like to do? I think the things that GB likes, I'll probably like, mm,
George Martin: [00:10:46] yeah. I wouldn't mind playing golf again. Yeah,
Josh Janssen: [00:10:49] well, yeah.
Tomorrow that'll be good. Yeah. Uh, have you found the phone? Oh, that's not what I was expecting. Yeah. It's sort of, um,
Jess Lucas: [00:10:59] an actual photo of my dad driving the Turner with my pops, holding it. Cause he's so proud.
Josh Janssen: [00:11:05] Yeah, it's a, can I show the camera? Yeah,
George Martin: [00:11:07] that's good. That sounds cool. Um, so did they with the racing, did they, um, how long did they race for
Jess Lucas: [00:11:15] every year for a while?
Sick. Oh, I like those cars
George Martin: [00:11:19] dangerous. Imagine flipping that thing.
Jess Lucas: [00:11:22] He's going up to Winton. You did you used to go into it a bit? No. Um, yeah.
George Martin: [00:11:28] Any crushes
Jess Lucas: [00:11:30] are maybe skidded out one day and that scared me. Um, I just remember the smell. It was always just like, you know, that, that smell and the sounds of the cows popping like rumbling and yeah.
And so other
Josh Janssen: [00:11:43] activities. So Jess other activities, can you just give me three others that we could do as a team that you'd get pumped about? Skydiving? You'd get pumped with skydiving. Okay. Go. I would do that, but expensive. Yeah. What? 600 acres or something? 300. It's pretty cheap. Isn't it? I almost don't trust 300.
I prefer to pay six,
Jess Lucas: [00:12:02] three 50. Yeah. Um, rock climbing. I could get around really. Yeah. I mean, it's a little bit,
Josh Janssen: [00:12:13] I'd prefer rock climbing over, um, bouldering bouldering, but the one thing is there is I think that we all have to be in a good mental state when we do these things. Cause I could imagine TJ and I having a PLO up at a rock climbing facility.
Jess Lucas: [00:12:30] Yeah. You too are not being together.
Josh Janssen: [00:12:31] Just being like. Either letting him down too quickly, or me or coaching you to be gone. I can imagine being on the wall and him actually climbing rack, he actually lifts my leg up. So that, that could be fun. What else? But another one,
Jess Lucas: [00:12:53] clay, clay turntable thing.
George Martin: [00:12:57] I've done it before.
It's good fun actually. Yeah. We did it like just before COVID night, I'd come back and pick it up in six weeks and then went into lockdown,
Jess Lucas: [00:13:06] should be
Josh Janssen: [00:13:07] masterpieces. I actually, we still have about four years ago, I got Bri kayaking experience on the Yarra and that had some of the worst flooding ever. So they couldn't do it.
And, um, so I got a credit there's probably expired. Now I
Jess Lucas: [00:13:24] should get one of those boats. It goes down the
George Martin: [00:13:26] Yarra. Oh, yeah, fishing fishing. That'd be sick, but
Josh Janssen: [00:13:30] you're not drinking it. But what would you do? Like you just, at that
Jess Lucas: [00:13:35] point, that's not going to be happening for how long
Josh Janssen: [00:13:38] Friday.
Jess Lucas: [00:13:42] I mean, if you want to do it Friday,
Josh Janssen: [00:13:43] it could be fun. We've got to shoot. Oh, that's right. That's only in the morning though. Isn't it? Yeah.
George Martin: [00:13:50] On Friday. Well, yeah, I think we should go do something. Yeah. Um, anything else?
Josh Janssen: [00:14:00] I feel like it's similar to golf for Jess. All right. Um, so the boat thing could be fun. Would you be happy with the boat? If we organize that for Friday ARVO? What's do you have any, if it's like writing concerts on or
Jess Lucas: [00:14:11] anything, why don't we go to the foodie
Josh Janssen: [00:14:14] foodie? You want to go to the footie Friday?
Josh? His eyes just Twitch there. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Friday, no, maybe not. No, let's go. Let's go Friday. We're going to the footy. Who are we saying?
George Martin: [00:14:26] Well, that's the issue with Friday night. I suppose we can do fine on
Josh Janssen: [00:14:33] Friday during the day afternoon. Yeah, we could do the finishing early thing on a Friday is quite an easy sell because we're not that productive unless we've got like something Jew, if you thought about saying,
Jess Lucas: [00:14:47] Oh, it's just funny. We're not that productive.
Josh Janssen: [00:14:50] No, we, we all like, sort of like after three o'clock it sort of dies
Jess Lucas: [00:14:53] off.
For sure. Yeah. But you know, what was really nice for those two weeks in a row? The chase plot is
Josh Janssen: [00:15:00] remember that. Yeah, we could. I mean, the problem is that, um, your like, and the like from a dietary perspective and I'm also trying to dial it into, um,
Jess Lucas: [00:15:12] okay. Fun. Jeff and people are excited by this conversation.
Probably not,
Josh Janssen: [00:15:16] but that's okay.
Jess Lucas: [00:15:18] Team activities.
George Martin: [00:15:22] I don't know. I got nothing,
Josh Janssen: [00:15:25] no mini golf.
Jess Lucas: [00:15:28] That's exactly
Josh Janssen: [00:15:29] the same. It's actually not driving wrench. Yeah. Thinking that I'm just the problem with the driving range. I can't go with mates because of the whole, because I'm a member and I feel like I'm getting the driving range and we come up with an idea.
What is it? An escape room.
Jess Lucas: [00:15:48] Oh, that's
George Martin: [00:15:48] a good tip.
Jess Lucas: [00:15:49] Doing activities, love escape rooms. I want to do a scary, okay.
Josh Janssen: [00:15:52] Yeah. I want to be scared Friday. Lunchtime.
George Martin: [00:15:55] Yeah, we
Jess Lucas: [00:15:55] don't get back until after lunch, but
George Martin: [00:15:57] yeah, that could be fun. That would be fun. Yeah. That's a good
Jess Lucas: [00:16:00] problem solving. I'll look into the best ones after this.
Okay, great. I love you'll love that.
George Martin: [00:16:05] I've never done it. I've done it once before really
Jess Lucas: [00:16:08] escape room hour. Oh, that's true. Remember how I got into solar last year and had to watch all the series? Was it, is that why I said that it's because I did the sort of skate route when I was like, Ugh, I love this shit.
I'm going to brainwash them. And
George Martin: [00:16:20] when new ones coming out, so well, when's that coming out? Not that wasn't a fun.
Josh Janssen: [00:16:26] So when is the next one coming out though? He's asking good questions. Um, Nick, uh, from the numbers game, I w I did something the other day and he said, ah, that's so funny that reminds me of blah, blah, blah.
I didn't understand what he was talking about. He said, entourage, haven't seen it. And so I said to Bree, we need to watch entourage. That was only like two weeks ago. And Bree is into the fourth season, really, but I fell off after one episode just because it's very hard to sort of keep up, but I have
Jess Lucas: [00:16:56] entourage
Josh Janssen: [00:16:56] is in Melbourne.
You did tell me that. Yeah. Which one?
George Martin: [00:17:01] The main one. Yeah. Did you say that? Um, I think Russ K's posted it last night. They're shooting that show in port Melbourne,
Josh Janssen: [00:17:09] correct? I was going to say, look shit then seriously, it looks like,
George Martin: [00:17:13] um, they were meant to recreate an LA traffic scene. It looks smoke
Josh Janssen: [00:17:16] going everywhere.
Literally look like Bay straight port Melbourne. It looks shit. Yeah. They literally took cars. Didn't look very American. There were Australian cars. On the right-hand side of the road, I think
George Martin: [00:17:32] that left-hand drives. No,
Josh Janssen: [00:17:34] really? No, no. It looked fix it in place. Do you know what film that is?
George Martin: [00:17:39] No, it was a TV show, I think, but, um, Le Libra or something. Um,
Josh Janssen: [00:17:46] But I, I do like the idea of, um, watching a series. Obviously I was watching Shahs of sunset, which has finished up, starts back in may. Yeah. We'd love to get restaurant.
Um, who's been on who's one of the main people
Jess Lucas: [00:17:59] did we get to the bottom of that from yesterday or the day before
Josh Janssen: [00:18:03] about getting him on or whatever
Jess Lucas: [00:18:04] about what you did for Brie? That was actually for
George Martin: [00:18:06] you. I looked it up. I couldn't find anything.
Jess Lucas: [00:18:09] I'm not making this off. Am I? What do you mean you did
Josh Janssen: [00:18:11] something.
Well, the golf club staff
George Martin: [00:18:14] last year. Um, but you say you want to get him on?
Josh Janssen: [00:18:17] Yeah. Yeah. On, can you actually produce this for us getting a Reza from Shahs of sunset on the show from Charlotte use? Um, you could use our poll doctor and as if he was Bain who's from, I think Bravo as well. Yeah. Who's been on the show, the plastic surgeon, surgeon.
George Martin: [00:18:38] Yeah, he's on botched. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:18:40] Yeah. Um, so I think that could be, it would be great if we could get restaurant. Okay. Um, so to see your series wise, though, the
George Martin: [00:18:47] circle, have you ever watched the circle on Netflix or I can you like it? It's so bad. It's, what's it about? It's like, um, there's all these different people in like basically an apartment building.
They have their own rooms. And I only communicate through text, but they tell the circle to send a text to
Josh Janssen: [00:19:06] someone it's like a big WhatsApp group, Netflix
George Martin: [00:19:08] series, and some of them are catfish. Okay. And so they have different identities and they're like, they got to catch them out.
Josh Janssen: [00:19:14] Someone told me to watch that show where it's based in, I think it's called Superstore.
No, it's not in the office, but in a
retail. Cool. Yeah, I think it's called Superstore. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. I haven't watched that. Um, but the FA the TV show that I just had a hat backwards and I said, reminds me of Alex Mac. Do you remember the secret world of Alex Mac?
George Martin: [00:19:37] No. Never heard of it.
Jess Lucas: [00:19:40] Do you recognize that he showed me the intro and it was,
Josh Janssen: [00:19:44] it's probably going to be on fetch, correct?
Nickelodeon. Yeah. So it's Alex Mack. She, um, falls into some chemical at a chemical plant and then she has super powers. She can go and visible and all that sort of thing. Oh yeah.
George Martin: [00:19:59] Yeah. 7.5 and IMD Bay.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:03] Seems
George Martin: [00:20:03] high. Doesn't it. First episode, eight of October, 1994, final episode, 15th of January, 1998.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:10] Both had to binge something, not food.
As in like, um, that we've already said yes. Where, okay. The weekend. I'm just bingeing. Yeah. What are you bingeing? Breaking bad. Haven't seen it. Gossip girl. I haven't seen it.
George Martin: [00:20:25] Can you please watch breaking bad and go, go at
Josh Janssen: [00:20:28] the same time.
George Martin: [00:20:30] Breaking bad. It's the best show of all time. I never
Jess Lucas: [00:20:32] got into it.
Seriously. I really want to get into game of Thrones.
Josh Janssen: [00:20:38] I don't like any mediaeval shit. Yeah. I'm the same. And I think that's not in the present. Yeah. I'm only just getting by, like I only get by with like, um,
George Martin: [00:20:49] breaking bad is great. Seriously. I reckon you'd like it. Okay. What
Jess Lucas: [00:20:52] about, um, Harry
Josh Janssen: [00:20:54] Potter? What's the first one.
You haven't watched. I couldn't tell you couldn't tell you anything about him. You haven't read the book either. I read 30 pages of, um, of the red one, which is the first one what's that called philosophers. And there was a big deal. Like I remember doing that. It was a massive achievement for me. Like, I'm pretty sure like it, it was one of those cases where I read 30 pages and I spent more time telling everyone at school that I was reading Harry Potter and then just gave up.
George Martin: [00:21:26] Can I just say my rating this year has gone down the drain since February.
Josh Janssen: [00:21:31] I'm not happy
George Martin: [00:21:31] about it. I can relate to that. I might start writing again. I've got, um, I need to read Jessica
Josh Janssen: [00:21:35] Jones, Jess, but Jones. What's that about? Well,
George Martin: [00:21:39] it's a nutshell. It's about this boy, but the author, right? Jasper Jones. And then he's recently written honey Bay and I flew through honey Bay and.
A day and a half. Yeah. And so mom sent me down Jasper Jones. I'm going to read that. And what's honeybee about honeybee is about a 14 year old trans girl. Um, who just wants to be
Josh Janssen: [00:22:02] loved. That's nice. Was that the B one? No, it's Jasper Jones. What's the B one about that.
George Martin: [00:22:10] Oh, that's that's that one? I don't know what Jasper came about.
Yeah. But that's good. I'm going to write that by the end of the Bay.
Josh Janssen: [00:22:18] I mean, give going back into winter. Surely I should finish that water book Baton sort of, because I read some fiction. It's all made up.
Jess Lucas: [00:22:29] Exactly. It's
Josh Janssen: [00:22:30] not, it just takes you away. I think I, um, I bought a book, um, that was short, made up stories fiction.
Um, because, uh, someone said Matt Mullenweg who founded a word price in an article. He said he reads a, um, a story every night and it gives him funny dreams. Oh yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:22:55] And do you want
Josh Janssen: [00:22:55] funny dreams or no? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I love the idea of funny dreams. Yeah, that would be good. And so anyway, I've gotten that book.
It's very small text is quite small, so I'll get sore eyes. Yep.
George Martin: [00:23:08] Well, you know what that, uh, John, my stepdad who owns the bookshelf, he told me I, uh, a good book will make you think about what a good book will teach you. Something about the world. A great book will teach you something about yourself. I ran nearly all great books of fiction.
When you
Josh Janssen: [00:23:27] think about it, why is it, why do you say that? Or just think about all the best
George Martin: [00:23:30] books, the great books. Yeah. Hardly any of them are like.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:36] Nonfiction what a great books. Just like on
George Martin: [00:23:39] a series. Yeah. All that stuff.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:41] Give me the other books. I don't know how to win friends and influence people.
George Martin: [00:23:46] Nonfiction a clockwork orange. Is that a book that's maybe thinking of, um, to kill a Mockingbird? Oh yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:23:54] You just going through school texts. Yeah. Um,
George Martin: [00:23:58] and you know, like nonfiction books are great, but the other thing is you get the gist of them quickly. Yeah. But you got the jurisdiction. Yeah. You get the, just like by halfway and then you don't want to finish it.
What's
Josh Janssen: [00:24:08] like lost connections. Yeah. I got to the point where it was like, don't take antidepressants. Yeah. And then stopped. Right? Yeah.
George Martin: [00:24:17] Does
Josh Janssen: [00:24:17] it really, what is he making that up? He's he's all about like, just connect with people. Like,
George Martin: [00:24:23] I mean, it doesn't say flat out don't take him. I think he says take them if they work for you, but there are other reasons why you're depressed.
Yeah. Yeah, not just a chemical imbalance in your brain. It is interesting. I'm just writing. This is
Josh Janssen: [00:24:36] Johan Harry's work. I really is. He the one that wrote, um, is he written a few books?
George Martin: [00:24:44] Oh yeah, he has. The other one was, um, uh, the big, big one, the war on it's like a war on drugs book. Okay. Yeah. Um, which is interesting.
Jess Lucas: [00:24:55] What are you gonna do with all your books downstairs?
Josh Janssen: [00:24:58] Oh, the library or they're just common then they're not mine anymore. They're all of ours. So you can, yeah, there BMCs, you can help yourself to a book. Thank you. Um, yeah, so, uh, someone was saying the other day we've got something like four Bibles down there.
Really?
George Martin: [00:25:17] Yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:25:17] Yeah. I think there's like a M series or something or you
George Martin: [00:25:19] donate them to sell that.
Josh Janssen: [00:25:24] Yeah, it just seems counter as sort of some sort of shaman centipede situation where I'm just like buying them and then selling them, like giving them pack and we all wait, what you're describing there as a library.
Yeah. True. Um, no, but I, um, yeah, it is. I always feel great when I'm writing. I know what's happened. Not reading. Instagram's got ya. Yeah. Um, actually I think I should delete the app as well. Yeah. Yeah. I've been watching the guy that says, um, He goes up to cars like fancy cars. He says, what do you do for work?
George Martin: [00:25:58] Oh yeah. I've seen
Josh Janssen: [00:25:58] that. And they're like, ah, I'm a stockbroker or I'm a
George Martin: [00:26:01] doctor. Or I've only seen the ones where he goes up like Jake, Paul
Josh Janssen: [00:26:04] and stuff. And he goes up to all different types. It's almost like a car meet type of situation. Yeah, right. So what's, what's the story here? Just the traps you've
George Martin: [00:26:15] been watching.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you showed me your YouTube history. The other day
Josh Janssen: [00:26:18] is a lot isn't there.
George Martin: [00:26:19] Yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:26:22] Just looking at his actual Safari
George Martin: [00:26:24] history. Yeah.
Josh Janssen: [00:26:26] Yeah. I can. Let's see. What's what's happening on Safari. Everyone go to your Safari history. I actually don't even know how to say it here. Yeah.
George Martin: [00:26:37] Mine's boring
Josh Janssen: [00:26:38] news.
George Martin: [00:26:40] Oh, this is funny. OzBargain Doug cocaine, because it was that funny video of that dog who knew the word cocaine. He said,
Josh Janssen: [00:26:50] yes, very funny react. I looked that up. V-Loc batteries,
George Martin: [00:26:57] um,
Josh Janssen: [00:27:01] bonding, internet connections. Yeah. Combined multiple internet connections. Boring. Isn't it? Yeah, this is
Jess Lucas: [00:27:06] so cause I'm just news, Optus. And then, and I'm looking for teen activities,
Josh Janssen: [00:27:14] gridlock looking at that word North Carolina time. Have
George Martin: [00:27:20] you told you a gridlock fact
Josh Janssen: [00:27:21] on the show now gridlock is an English word, but it was actually created in the U S um, on a commercial properties.
Just looking at what's out there or lots. Oh my God. There's so many.
George Martin: [00:27:35] Did he talk to Bray? Didn't tell Barry you're buying a house.
Josh Janssen: [00:27:38] Nah, I'm just looking at commercial properties. Commercial. Oh yeah.
George Martin: [00:27:41] Showed
Jess Lucas: [00:27:42] me this one yesterday for the office. Yeah. It's where. Trains go to die. Really?
Josh Janssen: [00:27:48] Why it's more than the office?
Sorry. At the moment I feel that the Sophos is sheet that's no shit. It's actually, I'm very grateful. It's um, but you could go homey vibes. Oh yeah. It's like, it's like a house. I don't mind that. Um, and so I'm looking for something that's. Sort of a little bit more clarity. Yes. But so then we do
Jess Lucas: [00:28:13] Sarah, all the lighting with, so
Josh Janssen: [00:28:16] even so we can control the lighting, the problem with like warehouses and shit is that lighting's an issue.
Sound's an issue. And so when I was like, I'm looking at like places where they've got like glass meeting rooms, which we can, then that decals over it. Yeah. You don't want cooperate? What are you going to explore a bit more fun?
George Martin: [00:28:38] What are you guys? Would they be inspired when we walk in?
Josh Janssen: [00:28:40] So what do you want?
What sort of profits you don't want to work from home that you really? Yeah. No, you don't. We offer you to work from home all the time and you still come in. Why
George Martin: [00:28:49] did you really don't? You're like here, I want to work from home.
Josh Janssen: [00:28:52] Yeah, you can. You should.
Jess Lucas: [00:28:55] Thank you. You guys can't come in. That we all have to work from home.
George Martin: [00:29:00] Ah, I'm not doing that. Yeah.
Jess Lucas: [00:29:02] But you always want an office or your internet sucks.
Josh Janssen: [00:29:08] Yeah, I actually like, and so the thing is, the office has been great. We've been here for over two years now. Um, a lot of great memories, but yeah, I think there's, it is very hard, like looking right now, there's just so many options trying to, so we're an Abbotsford right now. Trying to work out. Do we want to go Hawthorne?
Do we want to go Richmond car parks or initiate? Like making sure that you've got enough car parks. Yeah, Collingwood. So very hard
Jess Lucas: [00:29:38] somewhere. That's just, just on a random Backstreet, like not in any vicinity of an office. Five or like commercial vibe,
Josh Janssen: [00:29:48] like a house
Jess Lucas: [00:29:49] possibly. Why don't we just rent a
Josh Janssen: [00:29:51] house?
Not like it needs to, the thing is we'll have our own
Jess Lucas: [00:29:54] bedrooms. I want hate,
George Martin: [00:29:56] you just want your housemates. You want a housemate? She doesn't like talking at work.
Josh Janssen: [00:30:01] Yeah. I mean, would you like it? If you have the option, if we said to you today, Jess, Jesse, you can. Uh, work at your desk or we've actually got a new room in the office.
We just knocked down a Walmart. There's a new room. Jess, do you want this as your office? Would you take that? Yeah. So you like it, you would like your own office possibly. Yeah. I think that could work because I don't necessarily want an office. I like the idea of being out and about, so maybe if we had a space, you could have an office and sort of set it up the way you want.
That could work.
George Martin: [00:30:35] Can you have, can you put a thing on your door that says JM, general manager,
Jess Lucas: [00:30:41] anyone needs an office space or their own room? It's you?
Josh Janssen: [00:30:44] Yeah, I would love to run it this way. That would be nice. Just
George Martin: [00:30:47] black it out, but also lonely. I like being out and about you guys. I can put my headphones on.
Josh Janssen: [00:30:52] Yeah, that's true. All right. Well, uh, what an episode
recording. Just chatting.
George Martin: [00:31:01] I think it was good fun.
Jess Lucas: [00:31:04] If any of the listeners will
Josh Janssen: [00:31:05] enjoy this one? Yeah, that's fine. Hi. Oh,
George Martin: [00:31:07] can I just say coming off the high of my monopoly when I want a monopoly today? Twice? Yeah. We play monopoly at work and I went both times deal. We play monopoly deal. Yeah. Shorter games.
So you can smash them out at lunchtime. So you just want to.
Josh Janssen: [00:31:22] A lot easier than actual monopoly.
George Martin: [00:31:26] Yeah. That would take too long. Yeah,
Jess Lucas: [00:31:28] we should actually do that though. That'd be fun.
George Martin: [00:31:29] Yeah. That would
Josh Janssen: [00:31:30] be fun. Yeah. Friday. I mean, I was playing a lot on my iPad. We could get back into that and play on night. Oh, my you've got an iPad.
Yeah. You can't use your pencil though. It's an advantage, I think. Yeah. We just like being able to move things around quicker. Um,
George Martin: [00:31:44] is it a speed game?
Jess Lucas: [00:31:46] Oh,
Josh Janssen: [00:31:48] I was joshing. That'd be fun. We should do that. Great monopoly tonight, height, the Dallas talks.com. He can use his phone if he wants to, uh, have a great day, guys, bye-bye get better soon, Tommy in the say, bye.
Bye.
