It's the daily talk show everyone live from the Gold Coast once again yeah but Episode 64 Tommy I'm sorry everyone about the audio I expect that in myself
0:15
Tommy having the good audio
0:17
well I'm coming I'm coming to your ease clean and crisp is far from Melbourne so studio
0:23
yeah and I'm I'm outside broadcasting from the surface paradise we said that if we were ever doing remote
0:33
episodes you have to paint a picture what have you got surrounding your
0:38
so I've got a really good so I'm staying with my friend nice on which I said yesterday and he has like a short term like six months or so lace surface paradise in it's like God I think it's part of mantra that like a couple of buildings and some of them short term revenue we
0:58
need another lease fucking and great I'm asking a picture visually
1:04
so I can do the business plan of the fucking business
1:08
I can say water I'm I can actually there's a few trees in front but where the there's a big
1:18
what would he call it like a stage that performances and been happening for festival I can say that it's a very cool spot with a nice logistical
1:30
explanation of a painting a picture
1:34
I can see why not many people that not many people out but if I look down the balcony you can sort of see the pool for the place and you can also see those people seated watching on like a big screen the com games
1:49
can i i'm just going to do it for you. So right now I'm in the Gold Coast. It's It's been wonderful say brains.
1:59
As you look at about from the balcony you look straight ahead. All you see is water it's blue. There's waves from going is a few buildings the the the energy here is electric the calm games are on and it's just a beautiful place to be in the food is so lovely. It feels like I'm on holidays because I Anna
2:20
you fact it it's the foods okay but when I said to nice on this morning when we're deciding what to have for breakfast. He said you rolling the dice wherever you go here. Yeah And yes, it has its advantages of cheap coffee but the smashed average this morning is almost like avocado puree. It's just it's different. It's different than a lot of us eyeballs haven't seen as much fruit salad as I would have liked but I'm sure there's a fruit salad
2:50
God so yesterday I was I had to go buy some batteries from the supermarket I just chose together so from I wanted to get mothership from there and I did and I've had this thing I haven't I don't really do this. I usually go for the cheaper option in most things because I don't really think there's going to be much of a difference. But I had this moment where I'm looking at a fucking a packet of 10 batteries for $8 or a packet of 10 batteries for $16 What would you buy? Which which which packet would you buy it again the main batteries really notice a difference so it's one of those few items aware sometimes you'll pay $20 for four and they're like the long lasting lithium esque batteries I would I would always go especially if you're doing it for audio recorders or things where you don't want it to fuck up drive the expensive ones so you drop the Six Day backs yeah I drop 16 bucks but I do think about is I he's one of the items in my mind that I'll only go the expensive why not like I'm even now cause like I'm not fact you can buy like a you know 100 jazz and it'd be sick it'd be fucking it's brand new it's nine grand it's fine you know it's like it's batteries yeah definitely and then I was reading the back of them they're like the you know the double strength the endurance mode it's like they they marketing behind batteries it just will kill you because you believe every word of them because you're putting I hadn't yeah audio devices that I needed the power that wouldn't fuck it run out and and they still it's still got down to low battery on these ones. So
4:38
I was I was the rechargeable ones that are right pro tog in Melbourne you can shoot about the place I know this is a is there like commercial grade batteries that you can get which like sound those will use in theater when they like myki people up for their Mike attacks it's good to get them and get reach out vegetables like I it's like cost effective like it makes sense financially and then you know having a fucking check them in the bin and close your eyes and is again What then is there anything else that you buy that you always go the more expensive option like what's the sales What's this translate into? What else? Yeah, I'm trying to think like gum I think flight solo times I won't go the cheapest option I won't fly Jetstar
5:29
would have is probably an example eggs
5:33
oh yeah free range knocking on caged so you
5:36
guys a premium
5:38
yeah what else I get premium of like I'll get like the bear avocado is You know how sometimes it's the cheaper ones that's like a lighter green or sometimes go the ones that are actually better and strawberries strawberries is another pray mon there's like premium strawberries which taste tastes better when we'll we'll do that
5:59
so how do you relate this to like a business charging more and then having to think okay cuz I immediately you think more expensive potentially better yeah
6:13
I think it's a well it's it comes to it's always that value game isn't it so you're you value the batteries that are going to give you reliability and time Bosh in saying that that's not always an important thing your remote control is a low level device it's taken taking not that much power and it's going to sit in there and it doesn't need to do anything special so you going to spend less on that then then what you're going to spend on the batteries that's going to charge that it's going to power a microphone which can't die so it's the same with things like Internet a commercial right internet is a lot more expensive than sort of residential internet and that's because like you can find and contact them when it back there's all these you know user agreements software in town so you know where's yeah yeah we know this podcast is anti Telstra podcast because I always says official official statement
7:18
unless they are willing to sponsor us and then we'll take that up and will change your fucking chewed but I know I've always thought pay the premium get the premium service and so you're you're actually for Telstra because you're Telstra guy yeah I am still on it now and I still think they're like internets, the fastest reception in all areas. But fuck May I thought paying the premium meant you actually got good service but it's it's interesting. I think there is a shift in that business and then them scaling or maybe even reducing the scale to maximize profits if that makes sense because of times like they've outsourced everything like how do I even get on to an Australian
8:01
customer support person half the time but the thought there was always premium and they still have the product premium but everything else around has gone to shit in my opinion well
8:15
I feel like Fox tail used to be an example of a company that would express the fact that will communicate that they were like no ads or hardly any ads yeah used to be a certain point where is now somehow we've managed to be paying for a subscription for the service and they still give you is it's a weird but I am talking about luxury cars and things like that to just hear about this lady called King a car and Sydney know
8:45
the key in culture in Sydney been massive. I say this
8:50
Yeah, well, this
8:52
is this article on us comes at Are you at the moment and it says, as Jane Flanagan strolled through the cashed up streets of Sydney's Dover hides. On our way to work, she casually took her key out and made a 10 centimeter gash into an Audi four wheel drive. The nonchalant town planner did this five times in total, but Little did she know that someone was watching the car owner, Evan caught the 53 year old twice on a dash cam, hey, had to catch the culprit after he's out he had been targeted four times I just think like I would have fucking loved to be Evan catching someone like just the you know, I remember as a kid living in areas where there was like car break ins and stuff and just thinking I'm going to stay up all night and just watch the car and we're going to catch him Did you were full black outfit black Exactly. Yeah, I had my my fight done and ready to roll back How would you feel being this chick so she was find 1200 and $50 I think that was about five charges but I did a Google search event yeah and that's all that comes up it's almost like you with Obi if I type in and again it's like the results is overhyped woman who keys car in court serial luxury car key caught on camera all Cade luxury car finally admits motivation motivation was that she thought he was parked illegally fucking
10:29
is a LinkedIn Jane Flanagan content and brand director not so that's not her
10:35
soul searching I feel sorry for this is a town Yeah, there's a town plan is town plan. I did some LinkedIn searching and founder on that. So that's slightly awkward. It's it's the How do you feel about it? calling her fucking pitches probably communicates how you feel the D looks like actually looks like a beach. If I was to ever say someone Hello. Sorry. It's
11:00
just playing it. Now.
11:02
This is news.com. Dave I don't use the word How about this? He's He's a thing I've been thinking about. I don't use the word beach anymore. I haven't used to which is for a while, like a few years at least. But I would call her an asshole over a beach because I think a beach has this connotation that it sort of
11:21
people can say it might be sexist or it's like it's a word that specifically only people use it for females but she's a fucking asshole really isn't she she's like that's she's
11:34
you're looking at very closely to the what the meaning of the word is. I mean this thing if you're trying to country she's a bitch it's a female dog I just mean the
11:46
exact feeling when I was called pitch however the thing is that I reckon there's more power and cooling You're an asshole because people will be like my you can't say that but not she's a fucking awesome robot like be like my that sexist just laid in with she's a bitch because they'll say Don't call her a bitch and then say she's an alcohol and they'll have more cutthroat
12:10
just calculated this is interesting my brother's telling me he's got like a big news and he was reversing out of a spot so he's the ass interviews cow was going backwards and these woman somehow he looked he looked over your shoulder so this woman like you know in a big merch like fucking 20 meters away pulling into this what and then he starts to reverse the next minute she's fucking behind him and he backs into her and she backed into him so then they're both both the backs backed into each other
12:46
yeah what do you do that is that docking
12:52
look that up look that out I don't know that's not a Ducky is a ducklings the one that when you're like a face mail would
13:03
penetrate to do it is that we're talking you know you fucking we know the Docker no bit doc I thought docking was like I just have managed and
13:13
I'm not even explain it just dock it just
13:15
looking to target domain google it
13:18
anyway
13:20
they weren't they didn't show so
13:22
So who do you think's at fault if you if if you reverse and they reverse and you clash
13:30
and that's a good question
13:34
i think i think put it down to down the middle 5050 well I don't think that's the actual
13:41
works that's not the technical thing so my brother who's driveway I guess it's like who's backing out of the driveway Coppock, just say car park general public space and you both back into each other I'll tell you so my bro spoke to the because he got the details of her she got his and he spoke to his insurer and they said you both have to fork your own bill yeah so it's actually you have to put it is so that's kind of 5050 you're paying you'd pay your 50 you pay your side I pay my side and anyway she was saying all Can you please put it onto your insurance my husband's gonna kill me
14:21
my brother okay you can deal with it Micah because he's got a big tray on the back of his like it it's just metal he said he had a little bit of paint from her car and she obviously factor car heaps of times and she's like I can't put another claim through and
14:50
who has been was the bitch he could hear when she was on the phone to him he could hear human ground like telling him who say things and then when he got on the phone because my bro was like just let me speak the husband and then when he got on the phone he was a fucking bitch wouldn't say anything was just like just fully skirting around everything but was happy to instruct his wife throw his wife under the bus teller like what an ass how that
15:19
actually sells more of a word is an auto losing beach as all
15:25
good
15:28
talking about like Tom crashes and shit like that finds right what's the biggest fine you've ever received for speeding or should like that have you ever lost your license never not not even close I I lost four points or something race last year yeah
15:47
it's not my proudest moment but I like to give it a caveat I was sitting in fucking punch road traffic at 8am done no punt road people synonymous Lee call control because it is it's basically it's basically every high why in a lie is another way it's standard traffic right so sitting in traffic like I had my car completely stopped foot on the brake and no moving and I had my hand on my phone and I just going to tap on the window hoc my
16:22
motorbike night it was he was like a couple of cars behind and he got out of his car and walked up and just looked and it was like I had
16:31
gone was a placement that did this this was the
16:36
highway patrol they're the ones that are out there I mean they are on the quota right there trying to get the numbers up and I get it like to be honest I paid the fine I tried to get out of it and i i would say I've done it 98% less like you
16:56
me and I look out and I play whatever game looking into other cars saying second factor please put that away it's $500 it is the most expensive Fine fine it is over 500 bucks and I wasn't even I didn't even have my phone in my ear like driving it 60 k laughing talking doing the podcast fuck now start stacking Stansfield traffic so the lesson I learned I don't fucking do that question for you Do you know how fast do you have to drive when you going past cop car with their lines on if they're parked my car What do you mean to get it is if there's if there's a cop car on the side of the road yeah
17:41
to it what's the rules when you go in? Pastor
17:45
I didn't know it mean as in like a spade? Guys
17:48
no no you say you say police cars pulled someone else over yeah in Melbourne in Victoria they've got their lights on or an ammo an emergency service would you just what would you do is they're normally is a really nice rule yet yeah, a fact neither. Oh I just said the rule is the rule is in Victoria you have to be going 40 kilometers per hour when you're going past any emergency service vehicle when they have their lights on there on the side of the road fact not only that, but
18:25
there's an article of there's another article
18:29
talking about is this the most obscure road rule and what they talk about is guess what the speed limit is in South Australia when you going past emergency services fan pro My guess is 2525 kilometers an hour and how about this get out more a lady in New South Wales visiting South Australia
18:51
they were on the freeway where it was 110 kilometers an hour she was going ice three kilometers an hour went past a police she can get like you know that were pulled over there were two cop cars pulled over and other car anyway few minutes later she gets pulled over she actually thought she was going 85 they said she was going 83 they said you know you meant to be going 25 K's in our she got to find what over $1,000 and she got disqualified for six months
19:27
fuck off stupid bullshit rules they that's annoying you know what a height mall is fucking
19:35
church great Richmond coming up the hill from Bridge Road I'm trying to get pen a piece for you Joe so you know Bridge Road no sorry going up the hill from Swan Street and you go past the church and then it goes down the hill toward bridge Bridge Road so I was coming out there when I was about to go down to
19:55
say Trevor long left a review on iTunes and said how much lot he loves the podcast and said that it's very in I don't think we'd be any for Tigers right now. And you're
20:09
right you're my main audience. People are listening to this as well so I just want to make sure that story. Griffey you'll get the point. My point is this cop car pulled over on the opposite side of where I was traveling. So I was about to go down the hill, and Nikki's fucker pulls out his gun he thought he was fucking service to
20:29
me yeah yeah
20:31
he's speed guy but he treated like a fucking like he was using a rifle and he loved it up onto the top of the car and then started getting speed getting my speed going down the hill and he did it so fast. Like I I made eye contact with him because I was going to for his own I made eye contact with him as I went past him and I sort of just smiled at him and then I think that's a tick two martinis are fucking teach you and then he just was like, he literally looked like he pulled a gun from holster and got it up onto the top of the car to get I'm at me and he had his you know radar gun and even get shit but I was like, that's that he'll, you know many going down a hill and they're trying to get your speed. And of course, like, unless you get your foot in your break, you're going to roll into a higher speed and so I saw speeding fine down hill. I had a feeling that maybe this is a complete
21:28
mess. But I thought that he couldn't be fine. Going down a hill.
21:32
Well, I would have found it if
21:35
that's sure that's in a row. I'm sure that's a myth.
21:39
Yeah, he did. Hundred down the hill
21:42
at the end of it is, by the end of it, you get back down to 40 a year. Okay,
21:48
I had one I had one instance where I was filming in the dandy knowns which is sort of this for people who aren't from Victoria, you know, sort of Hillary mountain he sort of area really nice forest and we were filming a cyclist I was in I was driving my mate VW Golf and he was strapped in the back on the backstage with the seatbelt on and we had the tripod set up in the boot pointing out the back within the
22:23
the the sort of open filming will gain some great stuff. Anyway, we were getting some shots pulled over on this corner to do a us to do it again. And we just got like, boxed in by a cop car. And he said, yeah, this is I think he said that it was idiotic, because we were driving slowly on my next to these like double lines. And it was super dangerous. And I think he was angry at cyphy cluster because it's like, yeah, that cyclists could have been because we were filming the silence. But did you get fun? No, no. Didn't get find it was a day after my birthday. I don't know if that play to a passionate but license. And he thought is like, yeah, or was his birthday yesterday, I give him a break. But maybe not to think I'm maybe Ill informed.
23:18
very lovable, as if as if he gives a shit. Oh, you never know. He didn't. He didn't say anything. Oh, get these I know a copper who used to devil in some illegal behavior of himself and himself. And he was telling me the story about how he pulled over a car. And he was with a female officer. And they were looking through there was like night, it was like, light light at night. And this is dodgy cow. And they found a huge bag weighed in the car. And so they got that out. And I had to, you know, give him a fine or give you a I didn't even know if they arrested him. I think they just took all these details. And he didn't have an email somebody many wasn't high himself. Anyway, he said to that because I need to like log the evidence, right? Yeah. And he's like, Oh, yeah, that's probably 4.3 grams. And and then they weighed it. And she's like, as you know, that What do you mean? Like that's it's literally four
24:22
five grams. It just popped up just then we need to work out this tech technology side of things. I think it's got nothing to do with fucking ass and everything to do with this.
24:32
And he was in there finish that story. So that dude was like saying he's calling was thinking he was very sad because he could
24:41
almost down to the number say how much weed that they found?
24:46
Did ended that
24:48
like, was she did he get the vibe that she was like, actually my fucking sauce or
24:55
no, no, no. She's like, what? Yeah. Who? Mine would have been thinking? What the fuck have Do you know that when we haven't even Why? I asked you when we hadn't wide it. And now
25:06
you laughed at what's the deal with being a police officer? Like what past? You have to have no criminal record? What's the deal if I don't understand it? But I assume that you cannot have a criminal record to be a police officer.
25:21
But there's plenty of things people have done that haven't been logged in the crime database. Yeah, sure.
25:28
It makes sense. Just very quickly, before we wrap up walking along. Byron Bay yesterday, yesterday.
25:39
Just I think we just finished we hadn't had lunch or anything yet walking around. Anyway, I am go path go past this corner. And someone goes Josh and it's my friend Sarah Lee, who's from Hawaii, who like leaves in a completely different fucking she she she leaves. She actually lives in San Diego now. And she was in Byron by fact manual and it was just and I saw her as always I walking parcels like men. She looks like Sarah like and then she like was the one who caught a cold it out and like Josh it was just amazing experience I have like
26:22
I made her online back in 2008 were the same age she's a awesome surf photographer. And she liked one of my videos on Vimeo. I followed her stuff on flicker and we've stayed in contact we catch up probably every couple of years we end up bumping into each other shit I just like I loved like it was just such a moment where I was like fucking sick is that that's cool. Have you had any of those cases? Well I mean it seems to happen when I'm near a beach because she's because she's like a full time like surf photography time and it's time naturally anytime I'm anywhere near the coast it's more likely to happen but have you ever bumped into people that you know
27:08
you know in a completely different country accidentally yeah I
27:12
was in LA and I walked into a hostile we're all staying and I sort of chick that I grew up with and then we started hanging out it's fucking see. My brother though was in Germany and they got snowed in it was like probably 2011 or something that was like massive storms all across Europe and snow just like ground and hundreds of flights in the England all over Germany. And anyway, bro, we're staying in this hostile that he owned like found a room last minute. And he was leaving to flee to go fly out because there's no clear is walking in. So he's walking out and my best mate walks in to this fucking random hostile and they're like, holy shit. What are you doing here?
28:00
anyway? Yeah, coincidence, such a small world have that. Just to top the serendipity. Even more than that is I feel like all like Sarah. And I like it. We, when I was in 2012, I went to Macworld, right, and the guy who I was who was going to come over and film with me, he's wife's granddad died the night before we were going and he pulled the pin at 11pm, less than 12 hours before the flight. I'd never traveled on my own before, he was like, Hey, man, I'm gonna have to cancel and sorry, I was going there on my own with all these plans are like filming this stuff. So I contacted Sara Lee and she we booked a flight for for her from Hawaii to San Francisco and she filmed the whole Expo
28:58
these things these things right, which just like and we'd only caught up for the first time in person in like 2011 and she
29:07
stayed with my family in Melbourne. And she's hanging out with brain I it's amazing. But this is where it even gets weirder. So I got an email today and I think I told you this but I got an email from an interesting sort of technology company or like a you know big company today I told you that bit denied Oh yeah. Yes morning. Anyway, I asked that I had to sign this non disclosure agreement it took they write back with what they're after. And then after a they're doing a production in Byron Bay that are they wanting to produce a video in Byron Bay and there and it's related so all these factors weird fit like talk about serendipity so I'm like call me up Sarah they might high would this be something that you would want to collab on like Africa like what I random fact is, you know, turn like turn of events like a bunch of events that happen all at once was like when like it just so happened that I went to Byron bumps in bumped into Sarah get the same email and for all and for me to even know what her schedule is like. I was um it's pretty fucking weird was it was it was oh man, Josh and I think what it means is I don't know
30:31
what it means. Now I'll give it some meaning. I think what it showed know what is shown so what it demonstrates is the power of serendipity and so the power of like getting out of the cocoon and just having little moment if I'd stayed in the one spot and I hadn't gone to Byron none of that stuff would have happened so it's always probably liking getting at having the fact and skin the the touchy skin or the fat whatever analogy you want to use like get out and the real world and be like connecting with people because that's where shits gonna happen yeah
31:07
free at the opportunity.
31:09
I'm annoyed about this audio I'm going to run out zoom cast who is the tech behind this because this is literally something's gone wrong. every fucking nuff episode
31:19
stalking Trevor long please do a review on zoom cast on our behalf. She'd asked. You know
31:26
I need some way. I like the concept. I like the concept that this is it's even likely quality is gone downhill since you're Mike's disconnected. So I don't know. Cool, man. Well, it's a talk show everyone remember. Please subscribe to us through iTunes on the podcast app. My favorite podcasting app is what is it costs which is on which is like six bucks or something on the iPhone. It's amazing.
