It's the daily Talk Show Episode 124.

Happy Monday. gronk What's happening? What's going on? How are we?
0:13
I am. I'm very well, because yeah, the tangent side of the shipping in Victoria, you would think that it wouldn't be great with everything else happening.
0:25
So postage Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's, I mean, I mean, I think you still go to the post office. I guess that's still loud. So it's still open. We've got a few little things going on. Sorry. You know, a little few things getting shipped here. I actually saw yesterday, an F 45. Delivery so they do food. They don't meal, pre packaged meals, got delivered next door and I was surprised it was a Sunday.
0:52
You know, it seems like they're doing more stuff on Sunday because I had the package of the the keyboard that I'd been taking About the mechanical keyboard, the T Kron two keyboard and
1:08
I could change around the way. That's good.
1:13
I mean, I've already sent you a video of it you. You like 1995 once a cable back Can I show Can I show everyone?
1:27
I don't know we need to put out a disclaimer that is all. So what Josh has pulled up is his keyboard that he purchased and you're the guy that buys one of these. It is the biggest gimmick I've ever heard of in my life. What is the reason he's having a gimmick is because the sound of it is the selling point tactile keys with dense sound sound like you're from back in 1940s using a typewriter, and it's also
1:57
got I'm not much of a light Die, but also it has an off it's going to show show very well. But it's got quiet it's got like
2:07
it's got Yeah, it's cross between you know in
2:13
the game so again
2:15
it's like a real game you know what like Hope it increases your writing and I hope it increases your time spent already has already has that's great then it's done this job
2:25
thousand words yesterday I was just fucking typing out I was it felt very very good end didn't need a little wrist wrist
2:39
dude, the sheet you get into is so great. I love it because it's so beyond like, I would never in my fucking life think to get something to do something like typing like get a new keyboard just so I can type like I've got a keyboard. I've got one I got a pin. Like it's a weird one too and The thing is, there's a reason these things exists for guys like you. There's a reason that gaming chairs exist.
3:07
But this isn't a game item. It's not a gaming aesthetic. It's I know okay, I'm not a gamer.
3:14
It is weird that I put like on so what it's what it's meant for plus the lights. Like the lights, the lights are off. I love lights, but just to seem like with the the blend of someone who is a thoughtful writer, and wants the tactile nature, plus the neon lights like you're 16 and want to light your room because you may think, could you get your life? I don't know.
3:39
Don't you think there is something? So the problem with this sort of work that we do, especially if we're not out filming stuff, it can feel like you're missing something. And for me, it's the tactility like you want to feel like you're doing how do you how do you sort of create a posture so it actually feels like you're doing some work and I feel like this clicking and clacking makes me feel like I'm doing something.
4:07
Yeah, it is in all in your head. It is completely all in your head. But that's fine but in so what you're saying like it's like it's the excuse of not having the right camera by the fucking wrong camera. Yeah and then if you don't do it, don't use it and then don't use it but then know that you're you're full of shit. Like, we're all full of shit and but but it doesn't mean anything. It's not like you're an idiot for by it's like if it actually works. It helps. How much was it by the way? 160 delivery. Yeah, that's not that's not that crazy. So
4:42
the three, three and a half now and the good thing is like the cool thing is you can connect it to your iOS devices. So I could type text messages on my phone using either the key cron
4:54
I mean, I've got some fucking real lengthy ones from you that I'm worried that you'd be pumping. More More lengthy ones. I definitely can I am.
5:05
From the notes perspective, I've changed the way that I take notes and I write I was big with notion what do you what are you using at the moment? What's that you will be on biscuit. Obviously, it's
5:17
a way to access all the things that you so if I just I just get I've got something called quick notes. And you know that pain of like, I want to write something down on my computer, but I don't want to have to go and try and open a new doc and have a doc were in it, say Baba, or a Google Drive. And so anyway, I've just got notes, and then that is just like, a Notes section where I just quickly write shit down. What things Oh, sorry, sorry, it's accessing my notion. And so it's actually my notion where I have a page that is called notes. And there's nothing like if I lost, it wouldn't matter. It's not like I'm trying to it's we don't want to cause any I mean, I won't lose it because it's digital. If I lost it, you'd be worried about my Had you do that, but it's just where I just quickly write out anything?
6:05
Yeah, that's the thing with the notion I've gone off notion. And the main reason is, is that it's too difficult from an input perspective to do stuff really quickly. So with notion so what you were describing there, you're using another app to have it there. And I like it sort of works. If you're if you're on your computer, it's fine. Yes, the the phone with notion is a bit of a pain because it's sort of like there's multiple presses. It's it doesn't load that well. Sometimes you'd go do that the text and it fucks up.
6:40
I panic the other day on my phone, this is the thing you need something cross platform. And so I panicked and I still use notes on my like my apple notes.
6:49
Can I suggest something? It's 299 I think a month, but I think that all is not your goal is not to My life. Yeah, what would it have to be to be 299? And you know, so I think it's $2 99 Yeah, it's 299 Yes, it's cold drafts, drafts. So I've been using drafts for a while, but now that I've actually like, worked it all out, and I've been using my keyboard and I've set everything up properly. It is it has changed my life this weekend.
7:27
And I mean, I'm sure Georgie boy could put together a montage
7:32
of all the different software of the
7:34
the the note taking software specifically. Yeah, because there has been a batch like you have bought what was the thing Mr. 97 was using and still is something about like note taking or to do lists. It's all Yeah,
7:48
there's still a lot. There's a lot he bought that you bought that?
7:51
Yeah, well, there's a groove in there as well, which I use for specific sort of my memoir, but the so the thing with drafts Which is really great is so there's a, there's a section on there where you can quickly export to different things. Granted, so think of drafts as you are drafting text of any form. It has tags. So you could have project specific tags, work tags, whatever it is. And you also my favourite function in the whole thing is there is on you know, widgets on your phone. Yep. On the far the far, you know, you swipe right, you go far left,
8:33
quick access to weather or news or
8:36
Yes, and they are with the with iOS 14, they are going to be incorporating the widget so they're actually on the home screen and all of that stuff, right? Anyway, the widget of drafts is sick because what you can do is there's a button where it creates a new note. So the first one is a plus button and you create a new note The one along from that is a button way, if you press it, it will create a note with whatever is in your clipboard. So if you copy a URL, so I'm sick of having on Chrome Safari, just tabs open, I'm a no tab guide. I don't want when I open Chrome, no tabs. So if someone sends something to me, and I need to, like I need to keep this for later, I need to do something with this. I can, you can do one of two things. You could press the copy, you could copy the text and then press the button to create a new note based on the clipboard. Or the other thing that you could do is, you know, on Chrome and Safari, there's the little Share icon on the top right of the app, you can press that and then you can share it to draft and then it's the reason why you pay for it. I think there is a free version. But the 299 gives you the the cross cross device. So it works on my Mac, it works on my phone, I can start typing something on my Mac, and then pick it up on my phone. What do you think?
10:16
Well, I mean, it sounds great. I mean, it sounds a little bit more advanced than notes. Like I surprised the villa. Matt de Villa uses notes on his iPhone. And that's cross between his computer and here and so I don't know. I mean, I could spend the whole day when I'm looking at my schedule now
10:35
or I could spend a whole week a whole day whole
10:37
day to draw Yeah, I had a few things on today that were probably better for us as a business but I reckon I'm gonna go date but
10:45
you can also like they've got a whole marketplace of them or they call a directory, or ag Knights Knights actions. So So for instance, you could have an action you can set up an action. This is why I think it could be handy for you. If you're still in notion and loving notion,
11:05
they're loving it. I don't have a lot like, my problem is if I start loving something like I don't have any of these things
11:13
you're gonna fall for you fall well hard,
11:16
you know, I've got I don't want to get hurt
11:19
the only one I love I love zero. And I think it's just it's just what we've been using and it's there's competitors out there but i think it's it's like the one subscription that I that I love. It didn't have business I'd still have zero.
11:35
Well, they used to have back in the day they had a personal finance product that they just continued. Yeah. Anyway, I thought that that was something that was interesting if people are looking for a way of taking notes. For me it's like becoming my What's it called? Not something that you put up your ass because I always get confused between the two repository is it repositories something You store a bunch of notes. I was confused it with the thing that you put up your ass. Thank you
12:05
suppository.
12:06
Yes. And bizarre is another way that I had liver Dr. Tree. That's a
12:12
repository. I didn't know that repository a place where receptacle or place where or receptacle in which things are or may be stored. for coming. There was a hard way of just saying that's where it gets stored.
12:28
Yes. In a repository. No, but it's like, it's Yeah.
12:33
And so and sorry, I cut you off. You said if you loving notion,
12:37
yeah. So you can there is an action where you can just press a button and it can go to notion so you could set up drafts as your easy first step. And then whether you're using Rome or notion or whatever app you're using, you can quickly send it out, right.
12:52
So hang on, you're the no apps guy or the low apps got on your phone. If you were putting this one in. What do you think? looking at what's getting done, I took out
13:01
so many yesterday so I'm nearly on one screen.
13:05
So but what are you using? What it's not. So what are you replacing if drafts is the
13:12
thing most I always had drafts in on the phone but I just hadn't properly sort of committed to it. So I hadn't attempted this six months ago. But now I've worked out the tagging function. I've worked out the the copy and paste. The the clipboard thing has changed everything for me.
13:34
Okay. All right, we'll check back in six months time. Put in the show notes service. Check it in six months time to see how drafts is going. What did you do? What did I do on the weekend? Well, it was great. I we decided not to give Bodhi screentime Saturday at all like he he wasn't allowed to watch any TV. Any television. These were Hi, I'm not I'm not watching television, not watching television anyway, so we had fun. We ended up building a slide down the staircase with cardboard, which was bloody fun. Always wanted to do it as a kid. I did it with boogie boards and would put like a knee through the wall at the bottom of it.
14:20
Alert, alert. centre, you sent a video where there was a mattress set up.
14:26
Yep, it was perfect. It was perfect. And so how
14:30
long is the setup? And then how long do you actually so it's going down the stairs with like, it's a made of cardboard, it's a slide and then bowties slide. Did you slide down it
14:42
now because my I'm too heavy. So would you Amy's were all too heavy. You ask bumps on each stair, whereas body glides across the top of them because he's lighters feather and so it got used for probably 20 minutes. That's good. And then we took it down. He went hot 20 minutes and then he kind of it kind of fell apart. What else did you do
15:05
to to alleviate the anxiety of no Telly?
15:10
Oh, it was just we went out walking, you know getting out playing in the in the backyard. It's Yeah, I mean thankful that we have a place that has a front and back yard. And so there was a lot of that going on. But then we needed some bit of response. Yeah, I definitely definitely think a few weeks in to this lockdown. bodies' feeling it like he's, he's attitude is is like, uh, you know he is being a bit naughty. Like he's is he's doing stuff that he wouldn't normally do. And I think it's because he's he's going a bit stir crazy. And so and so.
15:49
Yeah, what is
15:50
this ego depletion is run out of willpower. Yeah, definitely
15:54
is. I don't know how much willpower you had. It was very small. Yeah, kids, usually have very little willpower, and they wouldn't even understand it. Anyway, we wanted a bit of a break. And so last night, we did a date night. And you know, it's we're like children, we're going to be home by eight isn't where it doesn't know where to go either. And so it's not
16:17
because of the curfew or just up there.
16:21
Dan's told us that we have to be curfews in place can be either out after eight. And so anyway, this is what a date night in isolation in stage four lockdown looks like here in Melbourne. We got in the car, and about six Amy's I mean, sister looked after birdie, and she lives with us and so we just cruised got in the car. Drove drove past a pizza place thought maybe we'll get that like getting takeaway. We ended up going to KFC drive thru,
16:55
of course, you'd already put it into your madness when you go Well we ended up here How did that happen?
17:02
Got some got some kernel went and parked in the dark side straight. Right and we ate and we hide it and then we just hang out talk went and then got some ice cream from Kohl's so like some guy times that were blocked so it comes with for just you know how to well we try it we went out on a limb and tried a different flavour. It was like a Krispy Kreme style. Oh yeah. Like the lazy No. Well, it's like the inside minutes is like a donut and the outsides meant to the outside is meant to sort of replicate glazing cram or something. Anyway, that point just mess with the donut never don't mess with the outside of a daytime. That is that winning. That is it. I think that is it.
17:54
is a is a is not a great ice cream
17:58
personally well I mean, but it's it is the outside of it. That is Yeah,
18:04
I agree. I agree. But I think that that's just based on the hierarchy of the whole ice cream not bang. And I apply
18:13
Yeah. And so then we ended up driving close to our house we didn't want to go back because we thought it definitely won't be asleep yet. We don't want we don't get but it's all it's trying to always get back when they're in bed. So until it feels like it's a longer period of time you've had home and then
18:30
what time was it by this point?
18:31
All my life, it was seven 715.
18:36
So you'd say everything so you left At what time?
18:39
Six. Okay, it was we added to our, to our deck and then we get to close by to a house, did a few laps around the block and then decided to park there's a spot where you can actually see the CBD. And so you can see the big bill has lit up and and we parked and then We thought Oh, we got Netflix on our phone on the
19:04
screen on your phone. I used to delete it chunky screen time is this is what's going on.
19:11
And so what I ended up doing was just propping had it plugged into the cast I had surround sound and and put Netflix on and it was on the dashboard. What is your one noise? I didn't have my quad lock in the car, I would have had the perfect quad lock Netflix viewing and so yeah, we've been watching something called kingdom, which I mentioned it's a show about a UFC gym in Venice Beach California is awesome. It's awesome. Anyway, that consistent the date night of drive thru, it was a contactless contactless date.
19:47
Did you have to wear a mask at any point
19:50
or I was almost gonna put one on as we went through drive thru but is like
19:53
as you go to get the daytime or Emmy winning.
19:57
So she put a mask on So anyway, it was a successful date night,
20:03
and I've only got a home that was Bodie, asleep. I was in bed based.
20:07
Yeah. But he was a little he'd been a little angel.
20:10
Oh, that's perfect. And do you explain it to him? Do you say, look, we're having a date night. This never happens.
20:16
Can you just be good? Now we left and he was losing it. And so we just got out of it.
20:23
Got out. Was he losing it? Because you guys were going?
20:26
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So he can't win and then and then he's fine. As soon as we go on. It's so annoying. That's the deal, guys. That's the deal. That's the date night deal in isolation. I don't even know if that's allowed. Like I don't know if you're meant to be. If you're even meant to be sitting in your car watching Netflix, but what are they going to do? I mean,
20:45
it would be a good news article. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, try it out watching that. Go That's nice. It's nice that you had a had a good night. Yeah. Bringing I've started sharing a toothbrush
21:04
Come on, man. I mean I've done it. I won't judge you too hard. I've done it and it's always been mine I haven't hadn't wanted to get like it's been in the woods especially when I mean like I'd fly up to Sydney might forget my toothbrush when you're doing long distance and and then you end up just getting your own one that if you solve that problem, but why, what are you doing?
21:26
Well, no, because Bree was at the break was at the shops on. She must. She must have came home from a walk or something on Saturday, and I had I was watching an unboxing video of a toothbrush and a mechanical toothbrush, a electronic electrical toothbrush. Yeah, and somebody watching as an electrical toothbrush. The boys are making fun of me for my toothbrush the other day and Okay, and I just left it at that because you know, my 30th is coming up. But yeah, coming up with ideas. I'm trying to work out like I never. I don't like, I feel like as I get older, I don't buy as even though I talk about every single thing I buy, I don't buy that much stuff. Really?
22:18
You got a small house, there's not much space for you to finish it.
22:22
Yeah. And so I was looking at all different options. And then Bree went to war words. And she said, Hey, which, which toothbrush was it? I was like, I you know, it's like an IQ series nine blah, blah, blah. It was like, like, I actually don't need I don't need something that crazy. Like, you don't need to spend over $100 on a tooth toothbrush. You can
22:45
easily
22:47
Yeah, so it was like 100 and the one that I had been looking at was like 190. And I was like, Oh, why? Why? And she said there's there's one on sale and it's down to 70 bucks. Do you want? Do you want me to get it? I said, Yes, Yes, please. And then when I brought it home, it was such a good experience that Bray was like, I think I want one. And so what we ended up doing, how good is this? You get multiple heads. You get two heads with it. And so Bree has a head and I have a head and now she's getting a head holder, that will, that will go in the bathroom and she will have her head. I'll have my head. My This is old school, like when? Yeah, it's an interesting thought, because a lot of people have their own toothbrush, but then when you're in a relationship, or you have a family, like when I was growing up, we had an electric toothbrush, I think was probably ahead of the times back then mom and dad probably spent a bit of money on it, but it was one for three boys. And so it was there's a few things though. There's a few issues with them.
23:56
I said to me over the weekend, so I have an old sheet with Rush, which is annoying. I should I should invest.
24:03
Today was a toothbrush. Was it an issue? We're talking toothbrushes on the weekend?
24:08
Well, I just said My issue is, hey Amy, why do you not put your electric toothbrush back on its holster and because every time I bend down my elbow knocks it because it's one spot or I like somehow either side if it's not in its place, which is away from the sink slightly. I elbow it or I knock it over. And so I was like, I didn't get this why why not put it back on the charge. And he's the reason because once if it's not dry, when you're putting it back on, when you put it back onto the charging by slightly wet it builds up like a sort of like a fucking disgusting gunk on the bottom. Like it builds up this sort of because it might have a bit of toothpaste stealing
24:57
clean hat you need to I think especially When you're sharing, you need to make sure that everyone's cleaning their head while the head buttons off at the bottom of it.
25:06
Yeah. And so I get what you're saying. Yeah.
25:08
But so that's a reason to So is she putting it on us on the side?
25:14
Which should just go back to where it's meant to go? Yeah, but where
25:16
where is she putting where you're bumping into it? Yep. What I'm just trying to work out is what is what's the benefit of the way that she's putting it down, versus putting it on the charger. Putting it down for it to dry versus putting it back onto the charging point which it will go the water would go down onto the bottom of the charging plate. So just need to dry with a little tat like I think I've done that like just the my towel just at the bottom giving it a solid, just walk around. And then we also remove the head of the head comes off and goes it will go on the head holder when we have it.
25:55
It goes to the fights like as a kid, there was definitely fights going on. I remember having one where you'd put the heading and it would close the lid. And so it was like a concealed are yeah area and you you'd press a button to open up and all the heads up, and then you put it back in and close it down. And so I mean, I've changed a bunch, and so you're happy with You're so good.
26:18
So mine is. So there were two versions. One was the r&b 100 and I got the r&b 800 and the 800 has 3d cleaning. Please 3d clean I don't quite know. I was racing. I thought I was gonna get 3d glasses I got to put on during
26:42
but um, there is a lot of buzzwords around marketing toothbrushes.
26:47
This omit that but also there's so many different. So when Bray was trying to determine which toothbrush to get you meant to be there getting essential stuff. It seems a little obnoxious Brian and I are having a conversation trying to work out what series number you want but they they need apple or someone to fix their their name I mean Apple still not great with their iPhones lately, but this fucking can I'll read to you all the different
27:19
aren't they Bay? Wi Fi
27:21
like the tricky names that they have for the individual.
27:25
Exactly like if I have a look, here we go standby. I'm just having having a look on their on their website. Because Bri was like, okay, just go on to the arabe website and make sure that you you are happy with the one that we're getting. Right? So electric toothbrushes find yours.
27:44
All right. Oh,
27:46
my God. So there's the the genius 9000 the genius 8000 the smart for the pro 500 the vitality. This doesn't even include my one. This is the problem like forever. Just they've actually simplified it. But the it's too much
28:06
the I don't
28:06
know why they go such big names but there has to be a reason. Have they done 7999 other versions and now they're on version 8000
28:15
Well the thing is that I think it's brushing so look at looking at the between the genius 9000 and the end sort of the smart for its built in brushing modes. So you have a hammer, but the thing is, I don't even know how to fucking change my brushing mode. Yeah, I am. I just haven't on the same brushing mode. I I will say though, brushing your tongue is a little bit more difficult with an electric electric toothbrush. Oh, yeah.
28:49
There's, um, there is one. I saw Sam Scheffer, a YouTuber, New York dude. He's was posting about it. Rush Hour obey. Clearly sponsored post, but it looked pretty insane.
29:06
Like if you do a good one out when I was Melbourne gate Philips sent me a toothbrush did Yeah, but look Look how I say that like it really it says it gets rid of 100% more clock
29:23
that's that means nothing. That means nothing so far it will the selling point for me was always that you could do the same brush as a toothbrush, but like triple the spade. So it's like you could spend 30 seconds brushing your teeth with an electric one. And it'd be like two and a half minutes of using now it's way
29:47
like I was really just like as brushing How much do you brush your gums?
29:53
I don't brush like I brush my teeth. On What do you mean? are you rushing your gums
30:01
It can be like building liens come out of a lien
30:05
on the show gentleness. And so yeah, it's no bit so the first the first day I went too hard, and there was a little bit of blood, but I was like there was something in it. I don't know if you've ever had this rap BAM like, Fuck, like when I go to the dentist next that they are going to fuck and not know what hit them like you can see I don't feel like dentists really talk about electric toothbrushes that much and I reckon at this moment I'm
30:33
like, they're always flogging them. They've always got one for sale at the dentist.
30:37
I feel like I never I never hear it. And so my theory was maybe this is just a conspiracy. Theory. That's not true. I was thinking it's too good. If we, if we all started using electric toothbrushes, we wouldn't have to go to the dentist.
30:52
Yeah, but habits it's like saying if people started realising that exercise was actually good for you, but people
30:58
are brushing their teeth every day like it's a habit. It's all it's doing is changing. I'm becoming a three day like a three times a day. brusha
31:07
I mean, is that any good? Way Janssen suggests that
31:11
No, I just I've just come up with that. No, but usually people where it's like, yeah, I brush my teeth after lunch.
31:17
Yeah, but then there's I mean, that's a working from home thing for sure. Nice. It's, I mean, you brush you, you would always brush your teeth at work. No, that's because I forgot in the morning. I was fucking getting Bodie prepared. And then I get to work and so I had no excuse. I was like, have one at the office just in case. But now I've got a routine of in the shower, and I've been having shower every morning. That's my change in routine since being at home. Like first thing and then I brush teeth in shower. So it's like, you know batching the habit.
31:47
I tried to I tried to give myself a neckline over the weekend because I was like and it'd be with my bed. I've done a horrendous look at it.
31:57
I look ahead it reminds you jersey shore bro.
32:02
Well it reminds me of when I was in the Philippines. We can post a photo on the Instagram account and I got a haircut and shave and the guy's like what do you want to do with shaving like whatever you think looks good and so he gave me like Craig David like
32:21
it's just oh scribe
32:24
really didn't suit me
32:28
it's a new keyboard Yeah.
32:32
Okay, but I stand by the keyboard is really great. I've also one thing that I'm testing this week so last week really good screen time all that sort of thing this week Amanda Yeah, what the thing
32:44
was it can we can we can we do a show comparison? Because I was worried you came out of retirement on Thursdays, which is now your new rule. Thursdays you get to jump onto the Instagram. But then I saw yesterday you followed someone on Twitter so you know you're on Twitter. I said, maybe it was from a while ago. But it just gave me notification that you're doing something on Twitter. So you're following Bill Gates. You follow Bill Gates recently? When did you do that?
33:15
I was thinking about Bill Gates and I feel like I followed him on Twitter. What why was I think about Bill Gates I was trying to work out. So I'm reading a book called how not to die. It's a it's a it's a cookbook. There's a cookbook to it and so brilliant. The cookbook as well. The guy, the doctor has a website called nutritionfacts.org. And he just takes all of the literature around nutrition and writes about it. That's his shtick.
33:49
And this is perfect JJ. I've I've just put up my screen time and I was thinking about telling you this over the weekend, the from your suggestion Deleting just a few apps. I haven't deleted everything. But even just getting rid of Facebook, on my phone, because I can still post on my computer. I'm down 11% last week I was down 11% so my average last week was five hours and 47 minutes. Oh, that's so good. And what was I'm trying to say with my average just swipe across on the screen time week.
34:27
So awake the
34:29
swipe across, so
34:30
it was up 13% Okay. 13% But remember, I had the huge drop of over 40% the week before. And keep in mind Thursday. The the Thursday was a huge day for me. So every day was like so I look at Friday was five hours and 15 minutes. Saturday, five hours. 40 minutes Wednesday, four hours 45 Thursday when I download at Instagram, again 11 hours and 41 minutes. Keep in mind though, keep in mind that that is including monopoly.
35:10
Sure, sure.
35:12
Okay. So yeah. And so the thing so the things that I'm doing a bunch of stuff because I I'm turning 30 in 28 days and so I've got a bit of it like like JJ, come on, let's get your shit together. And so one of the things Brian and I are cooking from this, how not to die cookbook is great dry simple recipes. But the one thing that I'm trying trialling is to do one hour of YouTube a week. And so this is where drafts come in. If I find something online where I'm like, this is a video I want to watch, copy the link, paste it in, put it into my YouTube, like our session, and then I open up drafts, I go to that tag and I can have the consumption so compartmentalising and just Watching that consumption so I'm not fucking spending all day on YouTube.
36:04
Yeah, sure. And so what was the average last week? With the slight increase, but we now have the cavia
36:11
breeze also made them
36:15
what's it like some sort of vinegar?
36:18
And what's it got in cayenne pepper?
36:22
It sounds horrible.
36:24
Yeah, it's it's meant to be good for digestion. Here we go.
36:28
I was five hours 47 minutes. So average
36:32
is the average count I get need to click wait six hours and 42 Not good, not good, not good. And so as you What are your apps though in that? So the apps are chrome at nine hours. messages at seven hours back which is the email at one hour 30 monopoly one hour 30 pocket costs one hour 30 phone 41 minutes settings 20 I spent 29 minutes in settings. doing
37:05
you know what's crazy, though, is that you look at the total screen time in a week. What was the total screen time in a whole week?
37:15
So this is the total screen time. Yeah, sure. Yeah. In a week. And then I've got another thing. 46 hours and 57 minutes still way too high.
37:25
Well, I put in 40 hours. That's a fucking work week the
37:29
way I was the other way. Fine. Do you know what's really interesting? Last week's average go down and look at last week's average for pickups. How many times in a day on average, picking up your phone?
37:44
Last week average was 99 and 130. Yours? Yeah, dude. I mean, if mention if,
37:52
I mean, how many notifications Do you get last week's average? 101 109 for me, and that's just What's your breakdown?
38:02
messages? Yeah, 235 messages, mind 580 598
38:05
messages 36 New York Times notifications 22 calendars 11 watts apps.
38:13
That's, that's phenomenal. 20. Yeah. The thing is mentioned if like workplaces found time, like started asking employees to show their screen time so they're trying to work out, like, how much time at work are you putting in? Because a lot of it's overlapping in the work day, especially home time. I mean, this is where it's just shaking up what it means to have a job these days. And what we're doing
38:42
well, this change for money. I mean, tracking has been criticised. There's a it doesn't create higher productivity. It's, it's like a people are on edge. It's tracking software's people end up just like retro tracking the visitor writing in what they Think they did? And the thing is that so known to be like time sheets and stuff known to be super inefficient. People underestimate they don't do a great job at it but the thing is what a UK company I feel like connected to BBC in some way they'll criticised there was some deck a desk tracking that was going on
39:21
with a sensor
39:23
yes a sensor like you say it fucking Shaco when you're trying to find a carpark and so that would know how long you are faithful? Yeah, not really a good indicator of how much fucking work you're doing?
39:34
Absolutely not. I had a moment yesterday, where I was like,
39:39
Fuck,
39:40
like the, the whole universal basic income thing. Removing what it would do politically to the world, like the sort of pushback and what it would mean in terms of like being like a focus on your happiness or mental health like What if you took off money as an issue? Not saying so you're not rich you're not poor you just have money you have what you need to survive and then what and and that pushing people to work out the end them what is huge because you think about these impoverished communities that are just the transfixed on fucking we need cash, we need to get some food on the tight like removing all of that what does it do to humanity? I don't know. But I was thinking about even for myself that I have money, I don't have much money. I can survive. But we're in a time now where it's almost close the closest thing to universal basic income jobs people being on most people are on 1500 bucks a fortnight based on job paper in the last six months and so
40:47
Jobs was amped as well.
40:50
That was opt in so what how can you What does that look like? What does it look like to think about? Yeah, you had a bit more And do the work there if that becomes the job. And then anything above that is like, because you wanted to not because you had to.
41:08
Yeah, well, I mean,
41:11
yeah, I think it is interesting. You think about status. Money is used as a way of determining status or it's sort of a status symbol.
41:20
Well, they've definitely been constructed, right? Like, the whole step on the status thing is a result of what money does like it, what it brings you. And yeah, status in itself like other than hierarchy of the food chain status, there is a construction of status as well like, just because you have cash doesn't mean you really like your urine. It's a certain game, a status game of money, so against other people that don't have cash. Or if you're looking at people from a financial perspective, then there's the status But other than that, it's like, you'll rich if you're fulfilled in your heart and you know there could be some Yogi that's doesn't mean any any money but he's the happiest person like and so they're they're rich in one aspect but just not cash and so what what's the status there? How do you compare that status of someone who
42:22
status is only relevant if you if you play the game? So if you're not if you're not playing the game, then it becomes irrelevant but if you look like there's so many like even look at them face masks. They were like they were status games going on what type of face mask? do you have? Do you have some fucking hipster handmade? One Do you have did you make your own? That's like that's high status now it's like if you make your own it's like you can so like it's a good flex like, fine yeah, she gets really bad like that's like so. Status I feel like will always be exist. Status could be like look at health, like it is a heist, like having a like a super healthy diet is considered this high status thing. One thing that was really interesting, which I saw I saw this this is a read a few weeks back on Twitter and it was like what is high status for the wealthy people but would be considered but the same thing would be considered low status for a poor person, right? And what are they and so one of them which I thought was brilliant was learn at knowing two languages. So if you think about it, if you know wealthy people or whatever sound like they speak another language, but then you think about the how many people around the world who aren't necessarily that financially secure or whatever it is, yeah, fucking no multiple languages. It's not considered high status.
44:02
What about people doing things for you, as a rich person you have, you know, butlers and maids or whatever. But then a higher status thing for some people without the means to be able to do that version is I have to do everything myself, I do everything myself. I am the guy that fucking looks after all of this. Versus I am the guy that has my suit fucking pressed and pill. Yeah, it's like, it's, that seems like as well, it's I think it's a same similar example.
44:36
Well, I think that it's also the Yeah, I mean, the interesting thing is what's going to happen with work ethic or what's happening I am, I think about what we're able to do now when the type of work we're taking on and being able to sort of be a little bit more like selective in some ways. And so it does When they are, like job tape or all of these things have taken off pressure for people. But pressure is sometimes necessary to move us forward. And so I do wonder, in the future, what it will mean like, I feel like there's definitely Yeah, like, I'm sure that all of these things will be culture changing forever. Definitely.
45:29
Definitely. I mean, culture has changed by people's perspectives changing and people need core needs changing. And so when, when there's a mass amount of people that have gained a new perspective of I'm not pushing as hard as I thought, like for that game that I was just thrown thrusted into and I didn't realise I was playing but I was a part of it. And so it's like, a no, I probably think more about the ability to leave anyway. And do the thing that we're doing and be really happy. And, and, you know, whether it's backing down the coast or just feeling that connected connectedness inside of people's core, you know, someone who really values human connection was like, Am I gonna be in the office? You know, it's like, and then you're thrust into this where it's like, we talk every day, we have a whole team that we're talking with every single day. And it feels similar, like, I'm getting the same, the same feeling of like that,
46:31
a supplies guy that
46:33
you know why, but I also like, delighted based on what I feel the future is going to be become gonna become so it's like, it makes a lot of sense. And it's like, fuck it. I think it's like you start saying the stars have aligned. It's like, of course, this is what's meant to happen because that's what the future is going to become the new like, I'm feeling this way because it's, yeah, this is we're shifting with what what's going to become the normal And so if you're resistant to it, that resistance is gonna is, could be amazing, some negative vibe within yourself. And so if you push back on the workplace push back on, wow, it's changing. It's like it's disempowering
47:19
inside. So, trying to get things to go back to like if you're attached to the past, or it can, I guess it's, it can be a bit of an issue, like, especially right now. Like, I feel like for someone who like I love travelling so much. I'm proud that I've been able to just disregard like I haven't really obsessed over When am I going to be able to trap like, I've just accepted it. And then as soon as we can, as soon as we're like, shits good, we have a fuckin vaccine. It's all like, going and flying is no longer a selfish thing to do. I'm fired up. I can't wait. I'm gonna go watch the Astros The Phillies gonna do a big baseball tour
48:06
of some hot dogs not bad idea,
48:07
but the thing is you're not allowed to do it for content it's actually
48:10
just literally just so yeah
48:13
Hey Josh Josh Josh has gone for six weeks I haven't heard from it we stopped doing the show because he wanted to go to a good fun
